The grumpy thread

Imp part/serivce supply specialists: I have contacted 3 of them in the last few days (2 engine and 1 body parts) by phone and e-mail, the body parts guy in 4 different ways including by PM(which has been read) and had SFA response. Are they all on holiday or do they really not want my custom? :(:?

Hmmm... This again. One of them, a body parts supplier was contacted by 2 differnt means of telephone, by 2 differnt e-mail addresses, and by PM on the car-specific forum - but I received no reply. Is that my grump? No. someone else on said forum asked about a particular component, to which the gist of the reply from this trader was "well why didn't you phone me?". So the gist of my reply was:

Perhaps because you don't answer your phone, or reply to voice mail, e-mail or PMs?

Is this my grump? No.

It's the fact that I received a PM from a moderator to say

this message is to inform you that this post is being removed due to its inflamatory nature. I realise its annoying when you have problems with traders but that sort of thing on the forum really helps no one and just causes grief.

Causing grief? That's the whole Falkirking idea, you doss aunt! Have you no idea how much grief this onanist has caused me, advertising services he doesn't wish to conclude?

Protectionism at its best, I think.

Bloody hell, Ash...that really is awful. Try and support her- maybe worth looking into joining some counselling/self-help group to help her stop thinking that it's her fault etc.

Posted

I'm mega sorry to hear about all this Ash. As others have said its much more common than people think, hope you and your other half pull though all of this O.K.

Can't really think of anything else to say really!.

Posted

Ash, can't really say much more than has already been said. It is far more common than you think, as we found out when it happened to us. It is also nobody's fault, although trying to convince each other of that is very difficult. Sometimes, there are no words to comfort each other, but sometimes there doesn't need to be. None of us need to tell you to be there for Kate, I think we all know how much you love her. Try to make this situation strengthen your love, because it can so easily break it.

And, ther WILL be a next time, there was for us. Twice.

Best wishes to you both.

Ashmicro, very sorry to hear your news. I can't imagine what you are going through and don't really know what to say.

You both need to grieve, don't stay so strong for her that you bottle it up... if you see what I mean. You'll get through it together.

Andy - My thoughts are with you and Kate - You will get through this, time can be a great healer.

Ash, Bugger. Send the misses my best (though how best wishes from an estuary lout in a bad shirt, she's never met will help is questionable). Any bad karma you had was surely canceled off at the quay side last week geezer.

My thoughts are with Kate and yourself.

In another grump, what would you do if you failed your driving test? Some lad here went and got his brother, pulled over the examiner when he was doing another test, and proceeded to beat the living daylights out of him at the roadside. The cops have them, they did the whole thing in front of a security camera! The examiner has been in hospital since Thursday. He's the younger brother of my mate Costas, and is getting married in two weeks. Bastards.

And Mrs Ramrod isn't any better yet. :(

Posted

Ash, my condolences to you and Katie. Watanabe_mother also sends her sympathy. As ever, you need anything - give me a shout - I'm good at acquiring things \ having a unit with a kettle for people to come and chat, even if you are over the water.

Further good will also sent to Mrs Ramrod.

Commiserations Andy and Eddy.

I can't imagine how hard it must be for both of you having a loved one go through that kind of purgatory.

The feelings of helplessness in such a situation are crushing.

Best wishes to both of you and your respective wives.

Looks like the end of the road for the wankel engine

Sadly, this quote speaks volumes

Mazda's decision underlines how consumer tastes have changed to preferring green vehicles over sporty ones.

Was always going to happen though. Wankels are shite on fuel and don't give the aural kicks of a V8. Surprised they've lasted this long to be honest! Sad for sure though.

I was always glad that they existed (not only for the snigger value of the name) but never felt I wanted to own one.

Jeez Ash, thats terrible. I've not been through anything like that myself so don't really know what to say, apart from adding to everyone else's condolences. Stay strong, but as Louise says, don't bottle it all up.

Take it easy dude.

Well if we're "not bottling it up...."

Been back and forth to doctors yesterday and today; today we were sent hotfoot to Paphos General Hospital A&E. Neurologist suspected Mrs Ramrod may have had a stroke. So we went in, were seen fairly swiftly by NHS standards, and Mrs went for a cat scan. I could have told them, she has 2... After that she was taken up to a ward where she had a lumbar puncture. She didn't like that at all! Anyway they've kept her in, which will probably run to a few days, so we will just have to wait and see.

Thank you, to all those who have wished her well. I told her and she was rather impressed that all these strangers would do that. As indeed I am.

We were in the Granada this morning, you should have seen us racing to the hospital! Looked like a scene from The Sweeney, I'm sure I've lost about 2000 miles off the back tyres!

You really really don't want to spend any time at the General, by the way. Think of the dingiest NHS hospital you know, and you'll get a hint, just a hint, of what this one's like. But it does have quite a sea view from the ward window.

There, unbottled...

Best wishes from the Claim family as well Eddy. I had a feeling that was what she was suffering with because my mum went through a similar experience last year.

Thanks guys. Warren, which one's your mum in that photo?

AH-HA!

Eddy caught red-handed asking about women in photographs! Documented, filed, stored in triplicate against apocalyptic loss of data records.

Now I want those pics of the DMV lady and your landlordess, Ed!

We're all still waiting to see a pic of Mrs Blitz. Come on now! Don't be shy!

Yeh, more best wishes headed your way from me as well Eddy - everything crossed for a swift recovery.

DMV lady? What DMV lady? This is a new one on me!

A couple of weeks ago, I had a car delivered to where one of my other fleet is stored, I was looking to take on a garage there as a 'mate' was giving it up. We agreed that it would be sub-let to me. When the car was delivered, the 'mate' who was supposed to clear out had lost the keys to it, a couple of days later it transpired that he didnt know the locks had been changed despite me telling him a few weeks back. So its been left parked up against both garages and since then I've been fearing it being damaged/lifted as it really does look abandonned.

Matey-lad phone me up whilst at work and says the garage locks would be changed tomorrow by the local clowncil which means my car would have to be moved as its parked right-up against both garages. That was of course until I was ask to stay on at work for an extra few days, I was going to go tonight but I felt so tired as I attended a job presentation this evening, I knew I wouldnt make it to move the car. Matey-fella informed me over the phone that he now wanted £50 rent for both garages despite them costing only £42 per month for both (About £21 each) the other £8 being supposedly for using his name or something as its being sub-let to me.

I offered him the £42 per month but as I did so he got all huffy and puffy and accused me of arguing (I was in the works rather small canteen sitting with a few of lads, so arguing wasnt really something I was looking to do) he stated that he wanted £50 a month or theres no point. Point to what?

He knows I have no other choice as I have no land to keep the cars on and the council would not rent directly to me as I'm not a resident of the local area.

I think I need to find somewhere else long-term to store them.

Brilliant.

Posted

Tell him it's £42, or the council will find out he's sub-letting the garages to someone else for a profit. If he tries shafting you on it, call his bluff. If he's a proper friend, he will not profiteer from you.
