The grumpy thread

True enough and it'll only go to shit if we let it.

There's thousands of car forums out there and as every week goes by someone spies their arse and starts a new one. You can't please all of the people all of the time and all that jazz.

Some people will be missed, others won't.

What is it about deleting posts anyway? It achieves bugger all and must be very time consuming. Surely it's less effort to just ignore whoever has hacked you off.

Posted

It's turning into a right dummy-spitter's ball though. It's as if there's been a shockwave of PMT shot through some people on here.

Have to admit I wish that I'd joined earlier and not spent so much time lurking.

There'll be another heyday, Im sure it's just a passing phase.

Can some one fill me in please (Not literally) to whats happened for Tayne to delete his account?, Have i missed something?.

Posted

God knows Trig.

I've pm'd him and I hope he comes back if he has gone, he put a lot of worthwhile stuff on here and will be missed if he has done one.

WHY THE FUCK IS TAYNE DELETING ALL HIS POSTS????!!!!!

My thoughts exactly. Tayne, perhaps you'd care to enlighten us? (by PM if you'd prefer).

My grandad was taken ill this morning, he hadn't been feeling well all week and he couldn't get out of his chair to get to the toilet, collapsed on the way and rang an ambulance. We were on holiday in Norfolk so had to rush to Southend hospital this morning and I've been there all day with him. Seems to be a urine infection, he's extremely weak and can't get out of bed by himself. He's had some antibiotics and had just had a sandwich and some water when we left at 6pm, but he's still not feeling too good. He was supposed to be moved to a short term ward today but because he had diarreorra (SP?) he needs a side room and they haven't got any spare, so he's still lying in A&E.

I just hope he feels better soon, everyone is very worried at the moment.

Tayne got the hump because someone had the TEMERITY to ask how to post pics instead of read a sticky. And then promptly spat his dummy.

Posted

heres what happened:

somebody or other: Can someone tell me how to post pics on here?

Tayne: JESUS CHRIST, THERES A FUGGIN 3-PAGE STICKY TELLING YOU HOW TO POST PICS AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE, WHY DONT YOU READ IT FFS

somebody or other: OK OK dont go mental, give us a break will you.... it cant be that easy if it needs 3 pages to explain it!

Tayne: AAARRGH! THATS THE LAST STRAW! I AM CASHING MY FORUM CHIPS IN!!!!! *DELETE*

Posted

If it make Tayne feel any better I had no idea how to post pics until I read his sticky.

Ah well!

Thats a shame. Tayne posted some pretty interesting stuff as well. Just as it seemed things were getting better as well...

He did and he liked Landys too. I don't understand why people get so wound up, it's just words on a screen!!

I'm going to stick my nose out here but i think they way Tanye has just behaved has made himself look like a right prat, I know it's frustrating when you post a helpful thread that gets stickied and then get someone who hasn't read it ask how to post photos but to behave like that when one person asks how to do it is just silly, maybe just pop a friendly link to it and a  was all you needed to do without behaving like a pre-Madonna and causing more upset to the forum.

I know I sound a bit harsh but I'm getting pissed with this behavior lately, and deleting your threads so no-one else can read them is just fucking stupid, grow up!

Catching up on several days postings...

1) It has gone bloody silly on here.

2) A5 - that's pants, as Cher once sang; I ran up the arse of a bellend in a taxi who stopped dead halfway out of a clear junction when my last Focus wasn't even a week old... grrrr. Hateful bastards at the best of times, but the fffker put in a claim (and got) nearly ten thousand dollarpounds compo, the ambulance chasing... no. I'll stop. What I was going to say is going too far.

3) Ditto points about people having to get past older cars; strangely never had the problem in the G-reg Cavalier, but the Proton attracts all manner of mouthbreathers who seem to think I'm fair game because I'm driving a knockoff Mitsubishi with a shitload of plastic stuck to it. Whats worse is that I've had it all day today in the bus, to the point I actually stopped giving a fuck and started driving like a proper bus driver, ie indicating and pulling out. The final straw was when a huge line of cars refused to let me out of a stop and I then spent the next five miles sitting at 28mph in a 60 behind the bloody lot of them, trying to run to a timetable that was devised using a helicopter.

The worst of it is? I wouldn't have held any of them up to any degree, the road was clear, sweeping bends, and I had the second fastest Dart in the garage... 57mph isn't far off 60 ffs!!!:evil::evil:

Sorry folks... had to get that off my chest...

57mph is absolutely fugging flying for a Dennis Dart.

All ours bar the two ex London wrecks have high speed diffs; the one I had today isn't the fastest, that honour goes to the newer Mini Pointer on an 04-plate which got the engine and gearbox out of the big one which went on fire - it does 61 according to the GPS doodah. Quite fast enough for an 8.8m, though handily they will also go round bends at that speed due to the fact they're like a big bloody gokart.

The really, really dangerous one is a late Euro 2 example with a 6-pot ex MOD engine in it putting out slightly more than the factory intended... before it ate it's gearbox (which lasted four whole days with the new engine), it was clocked at the scary side of 70mph but it now only does 44. Gets there in about 20 seconds dead though.

We've got a Mini Pointer with a 6-pot as well, but it only does about 55...

Bus things...

I really need to do some bussing at some stage, I've often wondered what they're like. I know that there were various Atlanteans rebodied with single deck bodies in the 80's, they must have shifted a bit with the lower weight. I can identify many buses by sight or sound, but of course know nothing about them to drive.

Hi Trig. I love your cars, I love your pictures, your opinions are valid and your posts well made, however, I feel a grump coming on, if I may.

Nobody is perfect, least of all me, but it's off my chest now, carry on. Don't go changin'!

All those years in the "special" class at secondary school weren't really they effort in hindsight, Mind you I'd love to buy the man who invented the spell check button on my computer a big beer one day.

Makes me wish I knew more about Buses now, no clue what some of the ones round here have powering them, but I do know that the X reg Darts sound incredible, and kick out so much black smoke when given some throttle. There is also a T reg one, which has a Voith gearbox in it, and it is rather fast. No contest for the B10s left though, somehow another one has recently appeared on my route, an M reg one, and they are both impressively fast. I realise this isn't a grump, but I needed somewhere to write this...

Actually here is a grump!

I took this photo around 25 days ago, and uploaded it onto Flickr.

Checked it on the DVLA as per, and it has been deleted, and therefore scrapped. Gutted, I was rather happy to have seen such an early MKIII as well.

It's a grump of mine; a mate got me interested, he always wanted to be a driver, I wanted to be a teacher, blah blah... he's now in his last year of teacher training with no great interest in buses, I'm daft on them and ended up driving them :lol:

That is a grump and a half; doesn't look too bad at all either, you'd have thought they would at least try to shift it on?
