The grumpy thread

I'm getting rather late to the parade here. I saw that "Tramadol Nights" last night. While I didn't find it offensive (very little offends me anyway), I found it about as funny as being kicked down a fire escape. So, that's our Scottish friend going to my "Come the revolution tied-to-a-post-at-dawn list". I shall need rather a lot of posts, and a metric shedload of 7.62x51 long:

Russell Brand - needs removed from the gene pool, lest he spawn

Ricky Gervais - reminds me of an irritating bloke I used to work with. I wanted to (and eventually did) slap him.

Mark Steel - Commie tosser

Peter Kay - one trick pony. Also a bit fat, so I reckon I'll need a 20mm cannon.

Rhona Cameron - "Comedienne". Prosecution under The Trades Description Act also looms.

I did laugh at Stewart Francis on Live at the Apollo the other night.....here is a 2 year old clip with many of the same jokes mind:

Unfunny comedians:

Lenny Henry: spectaculary unfunny wanker.

Jim Davidson: Fat, racist gobshite. Less funny than a terminal illness.

Yeh, me too.

How do people make a living from a bank of about 15 minutes of jokes? At least 2 years of the same material!

I still find Frankie Boyle quite funny, but he backed down on my at Glasgow earlier in the year... front row, in front of the microphone, unshaven, hairy schoolbus driver and he gave up. Kept looking back, but wouldn't rise to it... shitebag. Tramadol Nights has been very hit and miss, I was giggling like a twat at the first episode but the second one was just utter crud.

People I do find funny... Bill Bailey, Dylan Moran, Ross Noble, Eddie Izzard, Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Tim Wilson, Rodney Carrington, Craig Campbell, Jenny Talia and Kevin Bloody Wilson.

People I do not find funny... Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr, Lenny Henry, Stewart Francis, Jim Davidson, Russell Brand and Peter Kay. I just fail to see why anyone can find any of them funny, particularly that twat Carr, but each to their own...

I saw Jimmy Carr live last year, I though he was very funny, but then again i did piss myself then i saw Joe Pasquale live the year before.

I've met this a few times, WTF is going on?

Could be any number of reasons. Their server might be down, it might not like your return address etc.

PM me the reject and I'll have a look for you.

Quite often these Clubs are not computer literate, so when things go wrong they don't know how to fix it, even if they know that there's a problem. :(

Have you tried Googling for "updated" contact info? PC's list could be well out of date.

Thanks Keef. The addy in PC was the aol, so maybe the next step is to check out their site and use the other contact. On a world scale, it hardly rates as mildly interesting, never mind important...

In other news: Frankie Boyle? I'd be very happy to maroon him on the same island as Eva Cassidy and the others I mentioned earlier, he's annoying even on a good day. Ricky Gervais can go with them.

I liked Peter Kay's tv shows but didn't like his stand up at all

If you want proper comedy... listen to the Now Show, thats generally original and completely unoffensive. Comedy can be aided by offense but it should never be solely about offense, when it uses offense it much it just becomes shit.

The Now show is dire, a sort of satire with all detectable traces of controversy removed. Like a curry with no spices in it.

Posted

I've definitely heard The Now Show but I just can't place it. Does it involve the likes of Andy Parsons and Jon "funny as a worried frown on the face of an oncologist " Holmes?

Posted

My parents listen to Radio 4 and the "comedy" on there is about as funny as Schindler's List

Posted

Andy Parsons being that sort of nasally Cockney git?

Posted

I'm not sure what his accent is but he's the short-arsed baldy guy (who may or may not have a goatee, I can't remember) from Mock the Week.

Posted

Andy Parsons was without a doubt the most unfunny one from Mock the Week, he really ruined it with his crap jokes.

Hugh Dennis seems pretty funny, great impressionist and I liked that other one as well, the young one with the blond hair, can't remember his name though.

Russell Howard occasionally makes me laugh,

Andy Parsons is spectacularly unfunny. Just shouting things slowly does not make them amusing. Him and Jo Caulfield are two of the best reasons on television to turn the bloody thing off.

I haven't researched it thoroughly but I've never known anybody to express a different opinion, and nobody on here has defended him like they did for Frankie Boyle and Peter Kay. It does make you wonder why he's on a successful prime time programme.

Mock the Week is IMHO one of the funniest shows on, Andy Parsons is a complete waste of space. Theonly laughs he gets from the stand up segments are when he walks up to the microphone in a slightly odd way. I think I have seen one episode where could havebeen described as funny.

On th other hand, he is better than Paul Merton, who sits on Have I Got News for You being a smug bastard year after year....

Don't talk bollocks man.

Ditto. Merton's mind is lightening quick. I love it when him and Ross Noble are on the show together as they're both very quick and very funny.

I like Ross Noble by the way - he's like Billy Connolly. Not really a comedian in the true sense, just someone who's funny being themselves.

Ex wives...

She wants to have my access rights changed and she's determined to make me go to court again. Therefore I'm having a day off work tomorrow (unpaid) and having to pay £70+vat to my solicitor for an hours appointment. Somewhat unsurprisingly she gets legal aid funding.

If I was the sort of person who enjoyed paying £70+vat for an hours work I'd take my car to my local Mercedes stealership for a service.

Goodness, the VAT applies to services as well as goods? What a flipping rip-off!

Norm, they even manage to add VAT to some taxes! Oh, and it goes up to 20% next month.

(examine a petrol receipt carefully.. fuel duty is added to the base price, then you add VAT to the lot)

In other news, the Wikileaks lickers appear to have taken all Amazons European sites down. Not handy when I've only just finished working and need to buy some Christmas stuff. Had it sat in my basket waiting to buy as well

Fucksocks.
