Mrs Trigger went Christmas shopping to Lakeside this afternoon, she left here at 3pm, Picking up her mum from Colchester and sister from Chelmsford on the way, At 11pm she rang to say she was leaving, That's ok i thought, She be home by 12.30am by the latest.

It's now 2.20am and she's still not back, They had closed the A12 at the M25 junction until past Chelmsford meaning she's had to go miles out of her way to get to drop her sister off home and then drive miles out to get to Colchester to drop her mum off and rejoin the A12 again, and she said there was no signs saying the A12 was closed until she got to it neither .

I'm now sat up waiting for her to get home safely  , Glad i never went now.

Did Mrs Trigger get home okay amid the CRASH CHAOS?

Yes cheers Jon, it was 3.30am when she got in, a full 13 hours after she left the house to go to Lakeside (a 2 1/2 hour round trip tops normally), She wasn't in the best of moods when she got home!

Scenes are starting to turn ugly outside Parliament, I've been watching the protesters on Sky news live for the last few hours and it's now looks like the few who are looking for trouble are having a pop at the fuzz.

Glad your Missus got back OK, Trig. It's always very worrying when stuff like that happens.

Re: Police response to unruly students: dogs, mounted police, water cannon, plastic baton rounds, CS gas, lead. In that order. Some of these people aren't there to protest, it's recreational violence for some.

Yes, it does our cause a world of good being associated with that sort of thuggery.

It looks like I'll escape the increase in fees - I got in on the second to last boat before the cut off. However, this leaves my cousin Josh utterly fucked, as he's applying to University in 2012, and wants to work in the public sector. He doesn't stand much chance of being able to pay the fees back.

I got a second chance, he gets jack. Nice one.

I am going to get some stick for this but:

I fully support the protests and hope they burn down Parliment with all those criminals inside it.

perhaps it might discourage some people from spending three years at their expense doing a course that is sfa use to them when they leave!

You just know it's going to get worse, I'm sure I just saw the Winston Churchill monument on fire which is very disrespectful, I can't imagine the yobs behaving like this doing anyone any favors.

Awful.

I always thought she had a beautiful singing voice even if her songs were all covers , died tragically young IIRC

Would it be wrong to say I nearly went down to watch the city hall protest to see the louds mugs society get a good kicking.... I'd say that the balance of people going for violence has shifted significantly, at the beginning it seemed like it was a very small minority going for violence, looking at the Belfast protest's facebook page there was a large number going to smash sh*t up. (and looking at *some* of the "protestors", look like they haven't got a GCSE, let alone got into uni).

People complain about police brutality when many of those who complain about it break the law, are violent to the police and spend hours winding officers up, but somehow its always a suprise to them when a copper flips on them.

Oh and burning benches attacking sir Winston's statue is a rediculous act that does nothing but upset people.

Last night I tried to send an email to the woodie club. It came back with the message "unable to deliver." I've met this a few times, WTF is going on? Surely Practical Classics isn't going to print a dead email address? Not in a full-page feature about the club, anyway. So is Hotmail the problem? If so, what can I do about it? Anyone know?????

^^Let me get this straight. You want to join a woody club. Is that right?

I can help you there! £10 for four.

Just watching it on the telly, I hope they withdraw all funding from these waste of space wingers. GET A JOB!

I agree with the protesters too. Violence may not be the answer but as a group they are getting the message across and instead of writing letters to papers etc (which will go un-noticed or just be patronised) they're doing something about it.

I will point out that as a royalist I'm not too happy with them surrounding Charles' car and trying to put the windows through, and damaging Churchill's statue seems a bit daft.

Oh great,a burst water pipe. Why is it the stopcock is always seized and when you finally free it off it's the wrong one.Well the pipe isn't burst the push fit T piece has split spraying water all over the compressor, the bench grinder, the welder and the elctrical sockets,oh and the extension reel.Fan-bloody-tastic.Think I will get a compression fit T piece tomorrow and a ballvalve to isolate the outside tap.

My nextdoor neighbour came round five minutes after I'd switched my stopcock off and his has done the same.Still atleast I freed mine off.His was seized too so I lent him a ring spanner and he promptly sheared the tap off.

The fact that people are protesting against paying more when they themselves are damaging things, and in turn, making people pay for its repair, is a confusing situation.

The Woodie Car Club. No, I don't want to join, I just want a little help to find some information on a long-lost car. That'll be why the club's address was in Practical Classics back in October....

The next election's 4.5 years away - too long to help those who want or need to go now and in the next few years.

Most of them voted in the last election - the problem being that we've ended up with a non-elected coalition and a non-elected PM. A lot of the angst is because a lot of the protesters voted for the party that is propping up the coalition, i.e. the Lib-Dems, on the single fact that they would not increase tuition fees.

The tuition fees were introduced under New Labour, but the root went back to a 1996 and the Dearing Report - which helps to prove to me at least that we had red tories in power between 1997 an 2010.

However, here's the rub - any MP who studied at a university or higher education college over 12 years ago had their tuition fees paid for them, it didn't matter how much their daddy/mummy earned, they all had their fees paid for them.

^^And thusly, quoth I Mr. Keith Duckworth earlier. When you went socialist, that was the end of things. Just like the Kenyan Kommie we got these days. But that's getting rectified lately. Or at least ameliorated.

Neither Major's nor Blair's governments were socialist.

OK don't really want to get involved in this but....

Norm, I honestly cannot understand why anyone would think free healthcare could possibly be a bad thing, I don't see how you can say that it would ruin people's work ethic knowing that if they get hit by a bus they will be treated for it! Lumping it in with all those other things (which as far as I know don't exist - free flats? free groceries?) is stupid. In your country a ride in an ambulance costs a thousand bucks. I'm sorry but just because you have a low-paid job doesn't mean you should bleed to death on the street. What a totally fucking absurd point of view.

I see where you are coming from with the other things you say but lets get one thing straight here - the students are not protesting because they want FREE education - they do not expect this, no one does. Read M'coli's post above, he sums it up pretty much exactly. They are angry because the party they voted for has done a huge about-face on everything they stand for in a really short space of time. Lying to get power is nothing new, but this was a MAJOR campaign point for the Lib.Dems, and going back on that promise is an affront to everyone that voted for them.

Your post insinuates that anyone who goes to into higher education or is against what the government is doing is somehow automatically a work-shy bum, which frankly I find incredibly offensive as that encompasses 95% of the people I consider friends. I have grown up in a very poor working class family, I have never asked for any sort of handout from the government even when i've been entitled to one, and like most people this has got me exactly nowhere. The idea that "working hard, with brawn, lifting, welding, grinding, driving" is some miraculous way to a better life is bullshit.

Lets face it, there are no easy answers, the problems in society run far far too deep and are interconnected at so many levels that there is no one point of blame anymore. When I finally make it to the States maybe we can discuss this over a beer, but we are never going to come to any great understanding on a car forum, so let's just leave it here.

Could be any number of reasons. Their server might be down, it might not like your return address etc.

PM me the reject and I'll have a look for you.

Quite often these Clubs are not computer literate, so when things go wrong they don't know how to fix it, even if they know that there's a problem. :(

Have you tried Googling for "updated" contact info? PC's list could be well out of date.

As Oscar said "America, the only country to go from barbarism to decadence, completely missing out civilisation on the way". At least we don't top all our leaders when they displease us.........if you get lumbered with the wicked witch from Alaska, it'll be your just deserts.

No government has been even vaguely socialist in this country since the 1950s.

I know Americans are taught in school that socailism is the most evil thing on the planet, which seems to be why every country they don't understand are God-damn Commies who need invading and McDonalds.
