The grumpy thread

If it's any consolation Beko, when I was at University I got a slightly panicked call at 0800 from a mate who'd got up from bed without realising they had a dead leg and had done exactly the same thing.  Had to take her in, etc.

The difference was that the whole time she was on her way there, she had to put up with incessant laughing.

Bloody thing is much better this morning. Not told work that...

Glad it's feeling better.

My grump is I'm pretty sure I got got by a speed camera this morning. The speed camera. The speed camera that's always in the same place. The one I look out for every morning. The one I looked out for this morning, completely didn't see, and then zoomed past at probably about 80. Damn damnit and blast. I've already had my awareness course about six months ago, so it'll be points and a fine for me then.

What limit? If 70, 'about 80' might be ok. If 60, the Honda sump plug was karma. ;)

It's OK, I went past 2 camera vans in 3 days at 34 in a 30 both times. One course, one points! (and as per the other convo, I didn't tell the insurance about the course...)

70 limit, I hope I'll be OK. We'll see.

The guidelines they normally use are 10%+2mph so that's 79, if you were doing 80 on the speedo you're probably ok as most speedos overread a bit anyway.

I've just finished a slightly nervous two week wait after losing my shit with some tailgating van through the 50mph roadworks on the M6.  3 weeks today so i'm calling all-clear.

Moving on now to a possible bus lane infraction on Saturday - no points for that though so i'm not too worried.

Found out on Friday my uncle has died :(

A genuinely nice bloke, who loved his snooker and a whiskey. Always smiling and laughing and good for a laugh! Quite the charecter.

Sadly it may have been an incident at work that may of started off his illness, or at least, Pointed it out.

56 is no age!

RIP uncle Doug.

Friday I was not a happy boy and very Grumpy! His poor wife and young Daughters!

I know that pain, I spent a nervous 3 weeks after going under a gantry on the M4 by cardiff at over the NSL... Seems either I was lucky, or if the gantry isn't displaying a speed limit the camera isnt active.

Sorry to hear this, it is indeed no age, the good always seem to go young.   Condolences to you and your family.

I have just been attempting to get insurance quotes for something LHD and rare (here at least) but no one wants to insure it. Quite disappointing.

Lowest quote (only quote) was £1600 with a limited mileage and the car being kept in secure storage.

Several people owe me money.

I have been very patient and now it's grating - and hurting me financially.

I don't want excuses, I want the money. You have had long enough. I want the money I am owed.

Driving home from work, and I switch from 6 music to Radio2 to listen to Simon Mayo and the drive time show as usual, except it's now Simon Mayo and the hairy toed ex lap dancer Jo Whiley, and its massively, boringly shit.

Sigh.

Unicom are cunts.

My electricity was supplied through this shower of shit until July last year.It was from SSE through them and has been from SSE direct since January.Unicom took money from my account in Feb which was fair enough but when they then took money in March so when I finally got the time to cancel their direct debit I did so.The very next day I got text messages then two days after I'd been to the bank a letter demanding I contact their finance department and reinstate the direct debit.I contacted the finance department and explained that I am no longer their customer and by taking money for services they do not provide they have basically stolen from me.Erm,erm wrong department I will put you through to the right one.Twenty minutes on hold and they've put me through to the broadband department.Oh putting you through to the right department.Another twenty minutes and it's "I'll get them to call you back".Nothing until the next day "oh, we will look into it".

Within a week a letter asking for £40.00. Phoned them up and again wrong department and twenty minutes on hold.Told them I'm not paying for something twice what is this 40 quid for "we'll look into it but in the mean time we will monitor your account" eh,,,what account.Text messages again and another demand so again I phone the number on the letter to be told wrong department....Fucking twats....Finally get through and eventually told yeah they haven't supplied my electric since January but they are monitoring the account.Asked what for and it's oh we've taken money we shouldn't have and will work out by 15th of May what we owe you.In the mean-time ignore any more letters.Yeah there have been two more letters and text messages and today a text threatening to cut me off.Utter, utter cunts.

Nobody go with Unicom unless you've read the pages (yes pages) of complaints on the internet first.

“Will scrap if not sold by Thursday”

JFDI then, cunt!

To be fair, he'll be in profit if he weighs it in.

Bloody Hewlett Packard profiteering department!

A £250 monitor should not require me to spend another £45 on an adaptor to attach it to a standard VESA wall mount. It's a £0.50 bit of stamped metal that should come in the bloody box. I'd accept that on a £80 PC World store brand special, but at this price point is bloody inexcusable.

Pavilion 24XW is still a cracking monitor, and was bought purely based on the image quality...so I don't regret buying them. Still narked that it will cost me £80 odd...plus the wall mounts...to get them off the desk.

Will probably still do it though as the level of clutter and dust that gathers under them is really bugging me.

Actually had a little weep at work today.  Fuck knows why.

Worst thing about it is that I actually quite like my job!

Wasn’t aimed at anyone on here, it was a broken P38 on Facebook

Sorry, I thought we were still on the Tempra.

I’ve felt like crying at work sometimes and it’s my damned company. I think it’s stress - too much to do and too little time. I am literally pulling my hair out though- now have a bald patch on my beard.

Stop the world, I want to get off for a while.

Fuck that.  And I hope you told him to go fuck himself.

Richard, I've got no particular reason to.  They treat me well.  I think it's just that it's going nowhere and I really should be getting somewhere by now.  I'm 30 in June and whilst I appreciate that's no age at all, I'm a bit sick of feeling like I'm treading water.

I felt like that, at around the same age.  Talk to them.
