Probably important that you're also tolerant; far too often I hear tales of 'aggressive atheism', which in my book is as bad as religious extremism.

In general I tend not to get along with people who are absolutely fucking certain they know they are right about something - particularly if it's something where there's plenty of room for debate.

'Towards the end' = 'after the first few pages' for most people, myself included. See also War & Peace.....

Ah, have you tried The Satanic Verses? I made the mistake of reading the lot and to this day I still don't know what it was trying to say. Biggest waste of time since "How To Learn French" was translated into French.

What was that said about politics and religion? If politics is a no-no here, then I definitely don't want to see a debate about religion.

This.

I don't discuss religion usually, I have odd beliefs anyway (Hate organised religion with a passion) and am a firm believer in science over faith. However, it doesn't hurt to keep an open mind now does it... called 'hedging your bets' I believe!  :)  I hope there is some form of afterlife and people like him get the closure they deserve, that's all.

Didn't mean to start a heated discussion about God/science etc.

Sorry :(

I fucking hope (against hope) there is an afterlife cos I am running out of fucking time in this one.

I just spent half an hour trying to google the Viz letterbocks entry that said something like "This praying to God malarkey is rubbish - I prayed to him to fix the gearbox on my marina - but did he do it? Did he bollocks, if anything, he's made it worse"

Just a small chuckle about this thread now after seeing a meme on FB with God saying 'ffs, that Hawkins has only been here four hours & he's already proved to me that I don't exist'.

Playing dinner time darts with my mate (we’re crap, but love it) and I missed a 167 finish by a whisker.

The fact you only missed by a whisker means you're a lot less crap at darts than I am!

No, as I said above.

OK, abortions for some, miniature American flags for others.

In the same game I think I threw 12 darts at double two, then hit the single (by mistake) and then double one.

Did you go for the gamble? Could see you flogging a speedboat on the adhesive tree.

Forgetting pills is easy, and the effects surprisingly serious and long-lasting. I'm only 42, and relatively mentally capable, but have to rely on one of those boxes when a compartment for each day.

Still forgot.

Never bothered, it seemed like a big publicity stunt.

The publicity for it at the time definitely caught fire. Completely unfathomable book - that's a near thousand pages' worth I'll never get back.

Just been and put fuel in the dollop and super unleaded is £1.34 a litre! Then went to Halfords (just up the road) and bought some etch primer (alloy doors with a bubble) and couldn't find my wallet! Left it at the petrol station! Never done that before, senility is not so much 'creeping' as galloping!

Shell?

Cooking super is £1.22/ltr at Sainsbury's.

This is just someof the state of the car after 4 months in the garage, under cover for the first three but then I took the cover off and it got wet...

I'd keep it outside where there is at least airflow. A wet garage will ruin it in short order, even my mildly damp garage ate the Dolomite's bodywork at an alarming rate...

Yes indeed, that's what I was worrying about! Fortunately it seems to have done no damage. After a good wash and then polish on a few bits to get what looked like oil that had run along the bonnet (where from? Oil doesn't leak out of the car and climb upwards, does it?)  she looks fine again. I would have polished it completely but of course, it started to rain as I was doing the bonnet. Job for another day.

CI Eccles Topaz i think.

Yes, but they took the cash alternative to the caravan. I know because I delivered the caravan to the ATV studio (towed by an Ital 1.7 Saloon) and collected it after the recording (towed by a Marina Van). My first job, caravan salesman, and the company had impeccable* taste when it came to tow cars!

That is brilliant, Bullseye, caravan & an Ital all in one. I think your the winner here.
