Not the first person to make this observation recently, read this somewhere else not so long ago. No idea what’s going on though.

Can't make an unbiased view on this as I hate driving(for work) and couldn't bear the thought of doing it for as living,

And I come at it from precisely the opposite angle!  I absolutely love driving, despite the constant efforts of the Government, the general population and the weather to frustrate me, and even having done other things, I can't imagine not earning my living at it.  That thought is just too dreadful.

I hope today doesn't sour things too much for you Mo.

Have a look to see if they are wearing UK Dealer stickers. Then I think they probably are dodgy.

Unless a Romanian has bought a UK car, moved back home, re registered the vehicle in Romania, and then sold it to another Romanian heading for the UK. May seem a little far fetched but I bet it's a possibility.

As I recently mentioned my spot was two English guys in a RHD Audi A4 on Romanian plates wearing UK dealer stickers. That looked like a blatant ANPR avoidance tactic.

If the owner/driver is UK-resident, i.e. living / working here, the foreign plate is illegal. Simple as that. But with no enforcement, what's the point having the law?

Romanian-registered double-decker transporter lorries head east through Dover every single day, stacked up with UK-plated cars that are going for parts and for a LHD conversion and resale. And if you pick up a Romanian auto trader mag the majority of the salvage and parts section is UK plated stuff. It's cos we have such cheap cars!

At the scrappy I use there will always be a few guys removing bolt on panels from cars. I was chatting to the owner and he reckons they containerise it and ship it to Europe to make a few quid

I'm sad that I didn't grow up in the good old days. It must have been marvellous!

It wasn't all good - I do think you've had an extremely sheltered upbringing though.

That doesn't work for prostitution does it?

How do you know?

Grew up in a very multicultural part of Birmingham in borderline poverty, but thanks for making such a huge judgement about my life. Appreciate it.

Nope. I've been trying to think of a response to this one, but incredulity is about as far as I've got.

Try harder then. You still think that 'professional ladies' (after all, the word prostitute is surely demeaning......right?) are all heroin addicted skanks? Seriously? What fucking world do you live in?

Actually, I'm going to revise that.

I've beaten you with your own pseudo intellectual stick and you've flounced off. Oh well.

Sexism is women not being paid the same as men for the same job.

Sexism is NOT having lycra clad ladies parading on a racing circuit. A pity you can't grasp that.

Oh, and............

Anything to counter this? No, thought not.

Am I right in thinking that no-one has actually banned these dolly birds? My understanding is that 'the sport' has decided its not really the image it wants to project in 2018 and so there simply won't be jobs available of this type any more in F1. The employer has decided that these employees are no longer required. Thats not quite the same as someone else ("The PC Brigade" no doubt) slapping a ban on it right? Those girls will lose a few weekends work per year but of course they can still do other glamour modelling jobs or whatever else. Surely in the end the F1 big cheeses are perfectly entitled to decide what they want done in the name of their sport, and if they dont want any more dolly birds on the grid its up to them?

If thats the case, an argument about 'if its legal and they are adults consenting to it, whats the problem' does not apply surely. No one is banning it - the sport itself is deciding the role has had its day.

The trouble is this awful, insidious moral superiority that seems to be everywhere. Women have the power and opportunity to do whatever they want. But for some, that isn’t enough. At what point will The Chippendales be frowned upon, and who the hell has the right to say it’s not right to admire attractive women?

I fear we are heading towards a society where we are constantly on guard, in fear of offending someone. I don’t relish that.

I've been to U-Pull-It in York a few times. Whenever I've been there there's been a load of eastern Europeans stripping aging VAG products of anything they can and loading up vans full of the stuff. One time there was a full size artic there and the thing was full of pallet engines - AIUI they also buy up our VAG 1.9TDIs etc by the truckload and ship them out there to replace theirs.

Posted

^^ there is one guy in Poland who employs several guys to strip cars and ship it all back home. It’s a major income for York and half the reason they’re still going. They strip BMW and Vauxhall stuff as well.

Prostitution is complex, multi-layered and nuanced.

I haven't been following the Formula 1 'Grid girls' thing, but my (limited) understanding was the same as Mr Bollox - that it is just a marketing decision and F1 have now decided that not having them is better marketing than having them.

Indeed - and it’s utterly naive to think that only women are trafficked and forced into virtual slavery.

I was behind some sort of Vauxhall estate on a 67 plate this morning on my way to the train station. I still have the image of the brake lights burned into my retina's. They were silly bright.

On top of that, they have tiny indicators so you cant tell that they are turning when they are braking which is not good news for motorcyclists or when they do an emergency stop and use their hazard lights.

We had this 10 years ago with Golfs but they seemed to sort themselves out and get sensible indicators on the next version/facelift.

Put me in a bad mood from the off that today as these will be everywhere soon.

People who pull up to the Pay-at-Pump petrol pumps in an otherwise empty petrol station and then go and pay at the kiosk.

No problem with not using pay at the pump, most of them will only deliver upto a certain amount then you have to start again anyway, you may as well interact with the cashiers.

My problem is people who stop on a pump, get a fivers worth of fuel then spend 20 minutes doing a months shopping in the station. There were 2 guys about to come to blows about it when I was paying yesterday, pumps were mega busy but there were a dozen empty spaces for shoppers to park in.

Likewise people who dump their car blocking the only lpg pump at the station whilst they go shopping..

Pay at Pump all offer £99 max round here so unless you're refilling an HGV it's not a problem. That's why they authorise your card first, even says on the screen "Begin fuelling max £99"

Your bit about the supermarket aspect is exactly why I prefer pay at pump... you end up waiting to pay behind someone with their weekly shopping, wanting to buy fags but the cashier can't see the ones they want etc. Maybe if they introduced fast-track "I only want fuel" tills at peak times, I'd go inside.

My grump is people who park in the air bay to go shopping. And then get stroppy when I wont't move my car that's a gnat's cock away from their back bumper because I've put 50p in the machine and fuck them, I'm not wasting it. They couldn't be arsed to walk 50ft for their biscuits and energy drink, they can wait.

Perhaps she hasn’t realised she’s in a line of work that is simply in decline (as happens to pretty much all jobs sooner or later, apart from hairdressers dentists and undertakers)

Internal combustion engines are in decline

IN THIS DAY AND AGE, i.e, the dawn of the motor car when we know the damage that exhaust fumes do my transsexual one legged kitten' lungs it is so irresponsible to be using motor cars as our hobby. We should scrap them all now and buy electric cars.

Oh hang on though. Electric cars are not the answer either. Never mind the energy used to produce them etc, what about the poor INSECTS murdered by driving at them. In this day and age this should not be allowed.

Walking is the answer. Bugger, my good walking boots are leather! OMG the poor cows!

I may as well just stay in bed and masturbate. ( no ejaculation though, won't anyone think of the poor sperms! )

#tongue in cheek
