Really bad maths in that article.

'25% a year scrapped meaning they'll all be gone in 4 years'

That's definitely not how that works!

Oh yeah for sure. Hence the warning in my post. ;)

However I posted it here as such an article in a mainstream source is good for pointing out the fate of once common cars to the ordinary person.

I am a big Star Wars fan. I went to see the last jedi last night.

I wont give the plot away but it's time to bring it to a conclusion.

From what I understand, there's now a list of 'acceptable' classic cars, and an awful lot of 1980s and 1990s cars are not on it. Especially Japanese stuff. An absolute joke.

I found this out in February when looking to reinsure the Puma: it wasn't a classic, but the same age VW Beetle was. A 20-odd year-old Fiat Panda isn't a classic, but a 10-year-old Fiat 500 is. It's pish.

What year is your 940 CtP?

FJ were having none of an 'R' reg 940 estate.

I've got a 2001 S60 on my FJ policy and had a 2001 V40 on before too; I've got a Volvo Enthusiast Club policy though, anything over 15 is fair game.

Ferry crossing postponed due to bad weather. Sat on the boat being gently rocked around whilst in harbour. Could be worse I suppose. Not overly surprised as it was blowing a hoolie driving back to Dieppe. Guess I'm going to find out eventually if I suffer from sea sickness!

Getting harder by the day to earn a living. Costs being increased left right and centre. Wonder why i bother.

But I got classic insurance on my Frontera 3 years ago when it was only about 22 years old??

Not really a grump. As well as the trapped nerve in my back I've had problems with a tooth that last night decided it wanted to torture me as best it could.

Eventually I rang the dentist. After a bit of messing about they rang and said come now (they'd had a flood and the power off).

I gets there to find the road blocked and the dentist having to look after a elderly woman that had just been knocked down in the road.

OK so it was dark and she decided not to use the crossing but it puts a sore tooth into prospective when stuff like this happens. Must have been quite bad as she was still there 30 mins later.

I am ill still, having spent Boxing Day and weds sleeping on the living room floor at my sisters in oxford. Dad drove home on weds night as he had a hospital appt. on Thursday morning. I drove up to my parents with my mum on Thursday in the merc with my mountain bike on the roof.

Had to stop at the services on the m6 toll and will probably get a fine for going the wrong way to park ( huge queue and Mum needed an emergency ladies visit so I drove into the coach area).

Went to bed at 8pm and work up at 9.50 this morning to the news that my parents were going back to oxford today to look after my sister who has injured her back whilst her family goes to Centre Parcs in thetford for new year.

I was going mountain biking in llandegla today but it’s under a foot of snow. It may be better tomorrow as it’s been raining all day.

Then back down home on Sunday morning with no food for new year! The one thing I wanted to avoid was pointless car journeys and that’s exactly what I’ve got. Again. Well not next year I don’t, I’m staying put. They can visit me!

The only part of any family visits I enjoy is the driving to and fro. In fact the same goes for holidays etc.

And I don't even have a cool old W124 to cruise the Motorways in, you my friend are living the life.

It does waft well and effortlessly, you’re right.

I did see a lovely Renault 4 gxl(?) on Boxing Day. C reg red in outstanding condition travelling west on the m4. Other than that not much- there’s a SD 1 vitesse in my sisters village next to an old swb Land rover.

This. I put in a zero at the end of the page number in the URL and it went to the last page. Unfortunately it means you loose where you last read and have to backtrack to find it. Saves a lot of tapping though.

Phew. Have to say that was an entertaining ferry crossing! Doors slaming, kids crying etc etc. Made it back in one piece thankfully

What the sweet fuck is wrong with motor factors these days. Gone round a few trying to get plug leads. They all want a reg plate. I have said numerous times to them you have leads on a hook there. Can't you just match it up. No apparently computer won't allow it. Found one though. Took a lead off the volvo and said any of these. He came back with multiple boxes until he found a match. That's how it used to be.

There's something like 20,000 Morris Minors taxed or SORN and 1300 Rover 600s. Speaks volumes when you consider the age differences.

I was going to tidy the garage and start on the Dyane today.  Naturally, it is pissing down.

The reg look up systems took all the required knowledge out of the job and factor groups lost all value and respect for the staff and employ minimum wage trolley collectors who neither know or care what they are selling.

27 years ago, I went to get a cam cover gasket for my uncle's Transit.

"What year?"

"Don't know, the Transit's a W-reg but the engine's from a scrappy."

"We still need the year..."
