The grumpy thread

This bloke who's offered me a deal on my Cavalier isn't half pissing about. He's been coming down for the last couple of weeks or so, now he's messaged back and said (after a few days of messaging) he can't make it today as planned and wants to come tomorrow. That's no good to me, nor is Sunday and I'm back at work next week.

I think I'll just sack it off now and see what else I get offered.

Just started fitting my new handbrake shoes on the V70, just about got one side done.

Raining.

Bollocks.

Still raining, still bollocks.

Just consoled myself with a Chicken Tikka pastie.

Mmmmmm.

Pissing down with rain and I've got a stinking cold. I feel poorly and need someone to come and look after me... could be 'manflu' and I'll die and no one will care.

Sob, sob. :)

Office was dead so I thought I would work from home this afternoon and avoid the Friday afternoon rush hour. I'm now stuck on the M40 and a couple on fire engines have passed on the hard shoulder. Arse biscuits.

Sod that, it sounds like an engine off and feet up job for a couple of hours while listening to Sally Traffic.

Just got this message on a listing on ebay.......

words fail me.......

What language even is that?  Google Translate reckons it's Haitian Creole, but even then it can only translate a few of the words.

I have absolutely no idea...... I went through a few more common languages but no joy. as it is a Honda C90 and collection only it left me a little perplexed....

I was going to fit my roof box today. It has 4 rubber feet that sit on the roof of the car. One was still on the box, one was in the boot of my car but could I fuck find the other two. I dragged everything in my lockup out but couldn't find them. Fuck. 2 hours later I found them wrapped in some bubble wrap (wtf I can't remember doing that).

I was relieved.

So I got the front of the hold up and was curious as to what vehicle had found the thought of get another foot closer to Solihull so repellent that it decided to self immolate instead.

On my left, as the last fire engine left the scene, sitting on 4 piles of Dunlop's finest ash, charred grey from toe to top, bow to stern was the shape of a Land Rover Discovery, probably a mark 2 but it was lacking the usual distinguishing features to be sure.

Now where did I see that 'Should I buy a P38' thread?

Everything and everyone is annoying me at the moment. This, in itself, is also annoying me.

Just wish the world would fuck off and leave me alone For a bit.

The M62.

I think it was ALL motorways today, I was stuck on the M5, my alternate route the M40 was blocked, and there were jams on most others if Sally traffic is to be believed

The Rover's slow steering and sllllooooowwwwwww performance is really starting to miss me off, and the coolent leak is not helping. Pushing it into the River Nene is looking like a good idea. Maybe then it will handle better. Big, cumbersome blue PoS.

GF made me promise to keep it though. So I'm stuck with the fucker.

Just finished work after starting at 11am yesterday. Nah, not really a grump as it was a cracking day out (whit Friday brass band contest at saddleworth). I was one of the coaches annoying the fuck out of the locals.

Brassed off FTW!

Well, I finished fitting the new handbrake shoes to my V70 yesterday.

Made sure all linkages etc were operating freely, adjusted the shoes to lock, then backed off to turning freely, adjusted the lever to 4 or 5 clicks,

and guess what, the handbrake is still shit. MOT on Monday and I know it's going to fail.

Don't know what else to do now.

Bollocks.

What I would do is drive around for a bit, pulling the handbrake on from time to time, just to bed the shoes in. Then re adjust.

Don't overdo it, those little shoes overheat really quickly.

Handbrakes don't have to be very good to pass. If it will just hold on a steep hill it is probably ok, as long as it is acting on both wheels.

I'm afraid it won't. As it is at the moment, it doesn't hold at all going backwards.

Thanks for the tip though.

The brakes are only tested in one direction and I'm fairly sure it's forwards. If you follow Sorn Me's advice it should improve anyway.

To put it in perspective, I'm sure there are places that will charge you that per chip
