The insurance on the bx on here was over 1500 quid, insurance on the 1.4 I looked at was 1400 too. And no I don't live in th bronx and I havemt been banned either!

The coolant temp sensor had gone on our Punto 1.2, common thing, I think. If it's shit to start when cold and keeps stalling it'll be the same problem.

Deal or no Deal. What a pointless show. All the ridiculous emotional stuff, combined with a really boring format. And I wish Noel Edmonds had stayed in the 1980s doing Austin Montego adverts. I don't know why, but I find him really irritating.

All the contestants stay at the Mercure in Bristol.

You have never seen such a collection of wannabees and they don't know how to talk to each other without shouting.

I can never really fathom why insurance on PSA cars is so steep, I can't think that they're more likely to be driven by maniacs/fragile/complicated to repair/have more expensive bodywork than anything else. In my more paranoid moments I suspect some chicanery is going on somewhere...

It's completely different here, where the premiums are calculated by initial purchase price and power output, which completely ignores the fact that some cars depreciate faster than others. 3rd party only too, unless you want to pay a significant portion of the car's value every year.

I was there the second time the curse of Edmonds struck. True to form he blamed the pilot for taking kids up in such poor conditions, and the weather was appalling, but I bet the pilot was shit scared not to.

I've got cash on him lying low for a bit the next time Yewtree go knocking.

What started as a small hole got a lot bigger very quickly. Didn't help I literally pulled off a repair* piece with my hand.

Unlike the suzuki I know I can fix this!

It was actually proper welded if you call two sides of a square stuck on top of the crap you didn't cut out welded.

The black crap is some spray underseal I out on it a year or so ago when I saw it changing colour

[Francis Urquart]You may very well think that, I couldn't possibly comment...![/Francis Urquart]

Hardly a grump. MY BX has never used a drop of oil, water, or even LHM , so there !

I've probably mentioned it before, but there's an excellent chapter about DoND in the book Lost At Sea by Jon Ronson. Edmonds is indeed a rather odd individual, and the contestants are basically kept in a 'lab' environment for the duration of the series filming.

They all do that sir

That's the problem apart from the inner wings and small bits of the front panel the rest of the car has nearly 0 rust

DoND is wrong, but mostly because of the incredible and hateful greed of the contestants. That said, the bloke from my chippy was on it and he's a great fella, so they can't be all bad.

I caught an episode of DoND a few months ago. It must have been years since I last saw one and I genuinely couldn't believe it was still going.

Noel Edmonds must have used a lot of hair dye and botox or whatever in the time since I last caught an episode, as he actually looked younger than he did when I suffered Noel's House Party in the nineties, never mind the previous time I watched the Box Opening sob story snoozefest.

I got up later than usual today (forgot to change time on alarm clock) so instead of going to work in in the Cavalier (nice leisurely drive) I went in the Vectra. Then I spotted another Mk1 Cavalier and was robbed of the opportunity to flash my lights and wave.

Girlfriend is searching for car insurance today, she got it down to something like £475 but forgot to mention it has an alarm, so she amended the quote and searched again......

Prices then went UP!! And the insurer offering £475 then refused to quote!

WTAF!?!

You fitted an alarm?

O M G your car is modified innit!

Fuck me it's windy tonight... Watching the perspex shed window bow in the frame as I type...

Aye, it's a bit breezy here too. I'm keeping a keen eye on the (wood-frame) greenhouse - it tends to flex quite vigorously in the middle despite the 2x2 bracing frame I installed the other week. It survived the winter gales last year though, so it should be OK. :?

Out at 4am last night to catch the Perspex from my cold frame that was rattling around the garden. Couldn't get back to sleep afterwards.....

F**** wind. :-(  :-(

I nearly got blown out of my lane on the m40, fuck driving a truck in this wind!

Posted

Was heading into the wind driving home today, 45mph max speed on the downhill bits. Fuck driving a Dolomite 1300 in this wind!

Posted

That wind was pretty bad last night, my mates really upset as his neighbours brick wall blew over onto of his stunning Ford Orion stuffing all the A pillar in and denting and scratching the side. :(

Made a right hash of fitting the MX-3's new steering wheel. I hate those plastic horn push surrounds - you're torquing up a cheap piece of plastic.

The inevitable happened and the horn push won't stay in. Ultimate bodge master salvaging kicked in and I ended up gaffer taping it on temporarily.

I really need to get the boss adaptor off the spline too, but it won't budge.

I've been collecting discarded bottles of waste veg oil from various laybys and truck stops and now my XM won't start! Changed the filter and nothing!

Any advice?

Damn weather needs to make its mind up. Last night I got on the a38 and roads where wet but not raining. Within 2 minutes I was reduced from 70 to 25 as I couldn't see a thing. Hail, snow and the sodding passenger wiper lifted up and spun round.
