We have compulsory daytime headlamps here during the winter months, those cornering lights look really stupid in the daytime.

Since it's VAG mainly, and works on steering angle rather than indicators, it's a subtle way of allowing for the fact that all* VAG drivers are morons who don't indicate.

That's a good point, all they need to do is connect the system up to the actual indicators so it runs front and rear. ANyway, don't exaggerate, it's not all VAG drivers that drive like twats, it's only most of them.

 

Seats are VAG too now remember, I suspect the ones you're encountering bought them for this reason but couldn't afford one with a VW badge or the hoops of doom.

Nobody in Thornaby knows how to use a fucking roundabout.  Not lack of indicators, but understanding the basic principle of direction of traffic.  I've never known so many people wait until the roundabout on their LEFT is clear before joining a roundabout.  Mentalists.

 

I've even had people get irate at me for joining the roundabout when it's clear to the right at my junction and not theirs (which is to my left), as though I'm supposed to stop on the roundabout to let them out.

I nearly had a crash earlier on. While this is a daily occurrence here, for once, due to the Croatian highways agency, it would have been my fault.

 

There's a level crossing at the end of the village (idiot) we live in, once over that we have to turn left or right into the road that goes from the high road down to the motorway. Just before the level crossing there's a turning down to a small industrial estate (mostly an empty wasteland). That's pretty much the only way out of the village without driving miles along dirt tracks.

 

The road down to the motorway also has a level crossing, which they've now decided to replace with a bridge, diverting traffic onto a road going into the other end of the industrial estate while the work's being done. This traffic obviously exits the estate onto the village road before the level crossing.

 

I drove home earlier and noticed all the signs going up for the diversion, they also seemed to be painting white stripes on the road.

 

I had to go out again in the dark, I got to this junction and nearly took the front off a Golf exiting the estate, who then proceeded to follow me down the road flashing his lights and sounding his horn. WHich I ignroed, because that's what you do.

 

When I cme home again I realised what they'd done, they'd changed the priorities, so now the road into the estate is the main road, and the village road is a turning off of it. They've indicated this but painting a line down the middle of the road turning off towards the estate (which is now almost completely obscured by mud, bloody tractors) and putting just one unlit stop sign. Morons.

 

This also means that any cars coming out of the village will have to wait for the cars coming off the estate before they even get to the level crossing. The line is the main one from Zagreb down to the coast, so it's quite busy. Chances of escaping the village easily during the rush hour? None.

 

The worst bit is that, knowing the Croats, this will go on for months, if it ever gets finished at all.

TV License bastards

 

Owing to our little issue with being taken to court, and an early guilty plea given, with bending over readied, I just tried to set up a license. Entered the DD details, then my card details for it to take the first payment now, and after hitting confirm, wiating for the 3d secure bollocks to do it's thing it took me back 2 pages and told me to enter the dd details again. Just checked the bank account and the initial payment is pending, so they got that bit right. No confirmation email though. Feel a phone call tomorrow if I've heard nothing...

Somebody let their dog do a massive poo right outside my front gate and just left it there. Luckily I spotted before the kids went running out, but I was still annoyed to be picking up somebody else's shite.

 

I don't let my dog poo by people's gates/doors/driveways even though I pick up after him!

That's probably wise, imagine if someone came to their gate to find your dog squeezing one out, it probably wouldn't make any difference that you were ready with the baggy.

 

Good for you anyway, some people are really ignorant. To be honest it's not something I could do, I can deal with cat poo all day long (sometimes...) but dog poo turns my stomach for some reason. We have 4 so there's rather a lot it.

Dog poo is annoying, both the owner and the dog should be executed by roving execution squads specialising in dog poo and fly tipping.Execute cats too. 

 

Dad has somehow managed to blow up his Volvo 740. Lots of steam from the exhaust, death rattle, running on 2/3 cylinders. No idea how he's managed to do it. MOT has just run out too! He's on about scrapping it. Has anybody got a cheap 2.3 Volvo 740 engine?

Here's a little household hint for you. This'll help you clean up after your dog. Feed your dog a lot of rubberbands. Put a lot of rubberbands in with his regular food. Then, when he takes a shit, there's usually a little loop on the end of it. You just pick it up by the loop and...(whistle). Know what I mean? Throw it in the neighbor's yard.

Our dog usually decides the end of someone's drive or path is the best place to poo. I find it really embarrassing and drag him along a bit by the hedge or something. Those people who don't clear up after their dogs are lazy idiots.

My pet hate (see what I did there?) is all the arseholes round here never pick up after their dogs and I get the fooking blame! To be honest, it's a real problem as there is shit everywhere on the pavements and in the verges etc. But I ALWAYS pick up - all my pockets are stuffed with poo bags (empty) and I'm rarely seen without a dog offering in my mitt!

 

People see me as an easy target as I'm a cripple and they know I can't fight back so they have a go at me instead of the real culprits. Once or twice, people have had a surprise... I know I'm a softie, but they don't! Verbal violence... I'm very good at it when needed!

More "new" road layout fun. I popped out to pick t'wife up just now, I notice they've now put a sign up showing the road layout, high up on a lamp post and well before the junction so as not to scare anyone. Still no proper road markings of course. I cautiously approached the new junction and there's a woman waiting to turn across in front of me, she now has right of way there so I stopped and waived at her to go. Then I slowly pulled out into the junction and a lunatic coming the other way charged across the level crossing and tried to broadside me. I'm surprised there's not broken glass all over the pace yet. Coming back I see they've put massive signs up warning of the change in priorities, could have done with that from this side, you burks.
