The grumpy thread

A friend of mine took his 480 Celebration to be MOT'd and it failed because the tester refused to believe the clear front indicator units (with an orange bulb) were standard. He insisted the car 'wasn't made like that' and that matey had to go and get some of the earlier clear \ amber units from a scrapyard. They were like that from the factory.

I know testers can't be expected to know every trim \ bodywork variation on every car ever made but the cluster was using an amber bulb with the right relay for fuck's sake. Some of them are just pig-headed. Mind  you his opening gambit of 'why do I have to test this piece of shit' probably wasn't a good indication....

In the end matey complained to VOSA and got some of his test fee refunded.

There was nothing 'else' wrong with the car.

My Dad had a similar fail on his BMW's indicators on Tuesday. Clear indicators with orange bulbs are fitted as standard on the E39 after 2001. He's a BMW driver so it shouldn't matter if his indicators even work or not.

You can put whatever indicators you like on as long as they flash orange

I removed the amber plastic inserts to my Cortinas indicators which left them clear and fitted amber bulbs instead and that's passed 2 mots since, both at different garages.

Pillock; try a new fuel filter, they are a bugger for getting clogged if not changed often enough. Be warned that some fords with that engine aren't fitted with a primer bulb, which makes the impossible to bleed.

I have one at work I made from scrap pipes and a Xantia primer bulb.

My old 206 1.4HDi van was the same, Bol. Makes a mockery of the emissions law really.

Looks like there might be a LOH-UH-REE ticket boycot to protest a price hike. Now I have to buy some.

Myself. Why do I want to get rid of the Golf again? I've got two cars that I enjoy very much, and one which is fairly pleasant to pootle about in as and when required. I've spent good money getting the Golf up to scratch. I should just keep it. Listen to yourself man!

DW:  It is a wise man who listens to his own advice.

I'm grumpy because the weather is appalling and it's stopping me from fixing my car because the axle has to be worked on out of doors and I have no covered area to work in.

ref the lottery prices hike. What else hasn't risen in price over the past 17 odd years ffs!

And it's a luxury item not essential so stop moaning!

This is not directed at people on here by the way, just the twats on the Jeremy vine show.

This reminds me of some dead, stray dogs ball sack of a man that I once heard proclaiming placca wings on a Clio 'Valva' to be illegal.

Pre-60's the way forward, stops all that knob-ache....!

Jeremy vine show.

That's your problem right there. I can't actually listen to the Jeremy Vine show because it makes me want to put a hammer through the radio and it was getting expensive...

Or Steve Wright!

Can a radio presenter get his tongue any further up the behinds of the mediocre guests he has on? Every interview he does he always comments on how great they look.

Is it time for the annual/monthly rant about Radio 2? Good. It's shit and Steve Wright should be banned.

Yeah, I was just going to say I've lost ount of how many times Steve Wright has been mentioned in this thread!

And rightly so. Every time.

I like Steve Wright, you're not supposed to take it seriously

He drives a fairly old Range Rover, if that makes any difference to people's opinions...

Wife cut the corner in the works car park and ran it down a bollard, doors deeply scratched, the arch has a fist sized dent and scratches and even the alloy has copped a tap, really annoyed about it as she only done it because she was late for work and rushing.

I can't see me getting much change out of £500 so I might have to go though the insurance instead.

Even taken with a pinch of salt and seriously not taken seriously, tis still shite in my opinion.

Banal waffling with a bit of Jeremy Vine 'Daily Mail' rabble rousing chucked in just to make the audience angry and keep them tuned in.

Idiot family. My sister flogging her clio. Started at 1500 quid despite everyone telling her it was too much. Finally months later reduced it to 750 and it sold. Although she has told the guy that she has sold it to that if he finds anything wrong he can have his money back!

She told me there was some new law that said you couldn't sell a car with a fault it is on AA site. Cue me trying to find it. Did I Bugger. Just says if it is dangerous then saying sold as seen won't cover you.. fucking idiot.

Hey, if you can't claim in your insurance whats the point of having it? Is the NCD protected? TBH it makes sod all difference is that's the case in my experience (not that I crash that often).

Which is STILL dragging on with no sign of anything actually happening as insurance companies argue amongst themselves until they decide that the stupid bitch that hit me is at fault.

Hey, I am pretty sure I am not even female and some of you might remember I did this the other week by crashing my car INTO MY OWN HOUSE!:

Mrs Shitpeas reverse parked into a WRX at Mcdonalds. Scuffed his bumper and bent his 6" stainless exhaust tip.

Bad parking, insurance avoidance tax quoted at £240.

Commence the women driver not being able to park without crashing anecdotes.
