I always buy butter, haven't had any alternative for as long as I can remember.  Cook with butter quite a lot.

But it always, or almost always, needs a quick zap in the microwave to soften it although it is always left out, never in the fridge.

Have had a grandson living with me for a year and to avoid the microwave nonsense I bought "I can't beleeeeve it's not butter" for him.  He is gone now and although I bought half a dozen blocks of butter yesterday, thought I may as well finish off the ICBINB off, and almost new tub.

Disgusterous!  The grease is just 'orrible.

And I don't buy expensive butter, just the FarmFoods Irish stuff.  Read recently that Aldi butter is supposed to be the best and superior to the Danish stuff, may try it next time I need any.

As for the pedestrian, I was told the motorist has to rely on sight to avoid an accident were as pedestrians, cyclist etc can both see & hear traffic so has more chance of avoiding accidents.

Bit of a grump today. In to work at 7 to prepare for an BSi audit at 9.  Make sure i get the actual work sent out before the day is overtaken. Phone call at 8.15 saying the auditor was ill and couldn’t make it ( fair enough), could reschedule remotely for today, but we are on 1mb broadband so that doesn’t work. They’ve rescheduled for the 16th.

My grump is that if I had cancelled for illness, we would have to pay the £1100 day fee plus the same again for the rearranged date. They don’t pay anything in compensation for my time.

Very rarely; there are no universities at the top of Mauna Kea or at ORM on La Palma, the observatories are operated by detached teams of astronomers or in some instances technology now allows them to be operated remotely by the universities.

I was in the USA in Oregon about 20 years ago and they had “common sense” speed limits. Middle of the night , deserted freeway in good weather, 90mph , no problem. 
30 past a school or too fast for bad weather even if below posted limit, you’d get a ticket. Don’t know if they still have this or not. Probably green Libby has got it changed.

There’s a radio ad on at the moment, with a driver in remorse for (presumably having a crash) because he did 68mph instead of 60. It’s bad driving (which may or may not including speeding), that causes accidents, not purely speed.

But bad driving (reckless/ dangerous / driving without care etc) is subjective and needs to be proven . Plod doesn’t like this , it’s hard work. Over the speed limit, easy to prove, don’t even need a person to be involved. Case solved for plod, clear up rate improved, box ticked by chief constable.

I’m sure the manufacturers could easily engineer something with a proximity detector that activates a pre-recorded loud speaker announcement along the lines of “oi! Moron on the phone, get out of the f@cking way!”
