Jeez Ken, at least you are still here to grump about it. Many others weren’t as lucky.

SD1 V8 starter motor. What a pain the arse. Two Allen screws with no access. And when you are lying on your back no leverage. If I cannot remove it I sweat i'll break it up - this car has resisted all my attempts at saving it.

I will have to cut down an 8mm allen key and see if that works.

Bub, surely your deposit is in a scheme these days so can't it just be transferred to the new property? I thought that was one of the reasons the law got changed in the last few years.

This is one of those things that came in with really good intentions and has had unintended consequences.

Last time I moved when I was renting (from one property to another managed on a total-maintenance basis by the same agent but owned by different landlords) I put this to my letting agent - but they said no, because they can't access the deposit without it going back to me first.  There's no clause in the law to allow a transfer of a deposit from one property to another, it has to be given back to the tenant.  And while there is a time limit on that, it doesn't go back in time... which is when the tenant needed it.

I totally support the concept of the deposit being there to repair malicious damage by tenants *and nothing else* but like a lot of rushed legislation it doesn't actually work very well to benefit tenants.

Granted, it may be different in Bub's position, I was renting privately.

For fuck's sake.

I've swapped coils and plugs.

If it stays at C4 I reckon it's high pressure fuel pump and trade in time!f223c64c88acf79f048451775204d7be.jpg

He's lost his ride for this season, and the next. Hopefully no team will want to suffer the backlash of having their name associated with him in future seasons.

Not like this is his first offence:

the brake thing used to happen in 125s if they were all bashing fairings

so they brought the lever protectors in

dont need a cnut like that doing it on purpose

noone will touch him now

Ta for the info. I'd stupidly assumed it'd work in a sensible manner.

ETA. I wonder if in Bub's position a crisis loan could be got & then paid back when the previous deposit returns?

I think the main reason I was grumpy/pissed off is that people are taking the piss. I am STILL paying to tax and insure that bloody Vauxhall, I only borrowed it for a week and that was 5 months ago. When I asked the owner when he was going to take it back, he made me feel like an utter c00t and it was my problem. I also have his Jeep taking up loads of space in my rented garage, not that he has paid me a penny for the space and equally, shows no sign of doing anything with it. As the guy is in Denmark if I do anything I drop him in the shit... I don't do things like that. Another mate wanted to store some gear in there as well but he was going to pay me. Of course, he hasn't and has now gone 'radio silent' so the garage is full of other peoples crap and I'm paying for it, £120 pM.

Also, while I'm having a whine, took Phoebe to the vets for a check up ( has to go or they won't renew her prescription for the drugs they supply) and while there, they discovered she's broken a back tooth - split right down the middle. Been done some time apparently and doesn't seem to bother her at all but... could get infected and needs to come out. They want £250 to do it. Also gave me a lecture about the fact I buy some of her drugs from Amazon for a third of the price the vets charge. This is illegal apparently and someone could get in serious bother. I pointed out that if anyone was going to get in trouble, it isn't me so I shall enjoy the savings (£80 per month) unless the vets want to reduce their price to a sensible level instead of seeing my poor dod and my poorer wallet as the 'cash cow' for the year.

People who exploit you are not your mates.

What he said.

I'd cancel the tax & insurance on the Vauxhall, tell 'mate' & if he doesn't collect it then it's his problem. While you're at it, dump the jeep on the road with the same conversation. Anyone who buys a jeep when they could have a Land Rover isn't someone you want to associate with anyway ;)

£78 to park at Stansted for 4 days....

It'll be worth it for the collection thread. Diesel Lancia Thema from Italy?

That's about* two hours in central London.

I could park at Westfield's for four days and get a train and it would be cheaper.

Convenience* though.

Unions being as fucking useless as they've always appeared from the outside.

I spoke to them about a pay issue I've got & asked if they could help were I to join. I was assured that they could so I joined & the first contact I get is 'oh we might not be able to help as it started before you joined'. FFS!

So you only wanted to join to help you with something and now they might not you’re pissed off about it?

Not overly surprised if they can’t be arsed, tbh.

Posted

Yes I asked to see if they could help. The same as I'd ask any other business if they could do what I asked for before paying.

I hardly think it's unreasonable when I'm told they can help to be annoyed when they change their mind. If they can't help then they should have said so in the initial conversations, after I spoke to the same people & was assured it'd be typical of what they help with. It's an ongoing situation so according to everything they advertise it is something they'd help with.

The only reason I've joined is because following the correct procedures myself results in being ignored by our HR dept, which is illegal.

Were they efficient in processing the payment of your subs though?

Oh very, but that's national not local.

Parked the MB outside the garage today and noticed someone has keyed it the full length of the passenger side. Got home and the next door neighbour who parks in front of me has had his 17 plate BMW done as well. Must have been last night as I washed the MB yesterday and it weren't there then. Bugger.

So Chris and I have just spent an hour or so with a buffer and G3 doing both cars (my stuff) and they have both come out okay. Still, I was knackered before so could have done without it. Bloody sods.
