The Raffle Rover gets used a couple of times a week usually! It had to cover for the ZT for the last 2 weeks whilst getting the ZT through its MOT. Needs a few jobs doing to it but so far so good for this little car.

2002 Defender which was inherited from my Great Uncle. It has had a working life in the hills of Perthshire with 84k miles on the clock. Recently rebuilt due to a slight mishap with a Mercedes Sprinter van. Galvanised and all new bits underneath so should be good untill it can attain shite status  :-D

The Raffle Rover has taken over from my main P6 as my show car at the moment. Toying with the idea of selling this as it needs a few things doing and I am just not mechanically minded  :?

1974 and only about 4 owners, was rebuilt with all welding done in 2006 but the paint was not great a few panels are bubbling through now. When it was rebuilt it had an older high compression engine was put in with SD1 heads and a 5 speed conversion. Still goes ok but pretty much in full time retirement at the moment. Pictures are from when I first got it and a picture that came with it from 1978. It cost me £450 in 2011 so must be shite!! Passed an MOT 2 weeks later with just a nut needing replaced on the suspension  :-P

Good thread, this one.
After losing two Volvos to accidents, I managed to sell the dull but very competent Carisma and buy this;

Which is now my only form of transport.

Ok couple of P6's that I have in deep storage waiting on an inheritance or something so I can afford to get them fixed up!

First one is an 1975 Auto with power steering and a good engine from an SD1. Collected from Dumfries which is quite far enough for me to tow a car home straight after doing a night shift!!

The Wedgewood blue P6 is the gem in my collection it is a June 1964 car. So one of the first and PROBABLY!! the oldest P6 in Scotland?? 47k miles and 1 owner from new. I have spoken to the previous owner and he is a retired professor of physics at Aberdeen University. He ordered the car in Aberdeen and because of a typhoid outbreak in Aberdeen at the time he had to pick it up from further down the coast. Doesn't need a huge amount small amount of welding on outer sill and some reconditioning under bonnet!

My previous daily car was Rover 75 Tourer Diesel which i had for 4 years until the clutch went for the second time a year or so ago. I still have it sitting around along with another gold tourer which i bought for spares. Its a 1.8 turbo with a blown turbo. Probably the most expensive car i ever bought!! Only cost a couple hundred but as you will have seen above i wrote the Defender off whilst going to pick it up  The costs start to go through the roof from there. Insurance, Land Rover rebuild even getting the borrowed trailer back the next day cost a couple of hundred  :-(

Couple of random pics of old cars i've had and a caravan i bought last year which is 1990 so probably shite!

The 45 was my car before aforementioned gold tourer and the green Astra was my second car back in about 1989 !

Also a crappy picture of our David Brown cropmaster tractor. Poor tractor has been sitting for 15 years

This is my only car, a Volvo V70 TDi automatic, spoiling the view of the shonkiest road bridge I have seen.

It is quite good, sounds like a diesel Audi quattro, goes well, is super comfy and there's plenty of room for our lanky dogs.

Would recommend, I need to treat it to matching wheels and a new set of tyres, some more modifications to help it digest vegetable oil, handbrake shoes and tappets. Maybe even a clean.

My Volvo TDi automatic, also with odd wheels. The last time it was beside that 900 both cars belonged to Jonathan Dyane.

It only occurred to me this week that its registration is SVM backwards.

The modern daily. Has survived pretty well being mercilessly thrashed everywhere in my ownership. Now desperately in need of a new hydro pump (because sometimes it doesn't steer when you turn the wheel) which is the next thing on the agenda. Just rolled over 143,000 miles. I keep meaning to give it a cosmetic spruce-up but I seem to spend all my money on other, less useful cars instead. I love this thing and honestly can't see being without a BX now.

post-3924-0-27997800-1442606584_thumb.jpg

Old car v.02. I bought this on a whim a couple of years ago but never really gelled with it, and to my shame when it eventually broke and left me stranded I stuck it on my drive and ignored it for a year. It's finally fully functional (ish) and should have a new MoT on Monday, when it will be going up for sale straight away

post-3924-0-28767000-1442606805_thumb.jpg

An Allegro. Half share with Garycox. Hasn't had much use lately but was my daily for a long time. I really like driving this, but it is just out of MoT and needs a few jobs sorting for that which I can envisage taking me AGES to bother with. Currently on my drive sulking.

post-3924-0-37774100-1442606938_thumb.jpg

I still don't have a proper photo of this. Now MoT'd and currently in the early stages of the complex registration system (it came in before NOVA but was never registered here. It's a drag.) Will then be sent back to France for an engine rebuild unless I can find somebody trustworthy over here.

post-3924-0-37916600-1442607061_thumb.jpg

The fickle French mistress. Still off the road with ignition problems. Now have a new distributor that needs rebuilding, and then MAYBE I will be able to complete a journey in it without it breaking down. It's very pretty and can get away with being a little bitch. And it knows it.

post-3924-0-94421200-1442607190_thumb.jpg

The long-term project. Nothing much has happened since this arrived, but it's sort of out the way and I can pretend it doesn't exist until such a time when I have some money to throw at it. Again, pretty, not to mention historically important, but I can already picture the huge world of hassle it's gonna be to get it back on the road.

8 years on, this was a good buy. Always feels like it's on my side. Stuck in the limbo between modern and shite. Needs a maintenance catch-up but still completely dependable (if you don't set the alarm, which isn't at all dependable) 115,000miles / 34mpg. Stupid DMF rattles (as it did when I bought it, but I didn't know about DMF issues then)

post-17481-0-77428000-1442610590_thumb.jpg

This is my friend. First choice for most journeys. Much more of a Transit feel to it than expected. 1.8 petrol Zetec (NOT lpg) makes it pretty rare. 56,000 miles / 34 mpg. Stupid DMF rattles.

post-17481-0-66865200-1442610446_thumb.jpg

Honda's primitive hybrid system is fun. Terrible ride and electric pas are not. 77,000 miles / 70mpg Engine rattles. (Piston slap - they all do that....)

Pretty much most people have seen the cars I own. But since I last replied here, a couple of things have changed.....

DAILY AGAIN - RAB C STERLING

081020136971_zps544ab348.jpg

040420135429_zps2ec3779e.jpg

Snapped up for free and delivered to me by Andy McCMS206 nae bothar. Since I got my grubby hands on it, it has cost me a fair bit of money but its been well worth it. 100/10 - I LOVE this car 8)

MK2 STERLING - DORMANT

050520135755_zps36ac17a9.jpg

My 'stand by' Sterling. Last on the road in 2009 or something, it was my daily for a few months, then I went to Kuwait. I had NIL worth of moolah when I came back from the 'goodness knows how many months' jolly to Kuwait. It was towed to my then newly rented garage in Streetly tha' Coldfield but has now has recently taken up residence in Worcester. I LOVE this car 8)

MK1 STERLINGOF DOOM

G-reg Mk1 Sterling. When I last replied here, this car was undergoing a gearbox fitment, full service and MOT. This was probably the most sorted car I'd ever had, great mechanics and a rust free body. It was my daily for a good year and a bit until it decided to chuck its own engine and internals. This culminated in an uneeded day off work and a smokey scare-fest of a drive to Worcester where I dumped it at my mates. It has now been stored in the barn where I dumped it. I really can't be arsed with this car right now.

MK1 STERLING - GLORIOUS SOUNDING RUST BUCKET

20131201_154338_zpse4f30038.jpg

20131201_154358_zps3dfc3e0b.jpg

This thing came about from a swap I did with an identical car that shot its internals. The previous owner of this car got himself the shell of my old White Sterling that he could weigh in for moolah and I still retained ownership of a White E-reg 825 Sterling. Mind, I've never actually had E50UKJ on the road and I've driven it probably a couple of meters at the most. I'd like to put it back on the road at some point but it needs work and attention. It's got a great interior, like being back in 1986, but the body is fairly rusty, the engine though sounds as sweet as a nut, even the exhaust sounds great. But it's gonna need a grand and a bit chucking at it to make it presentable. Hence why it lives undercover off road. I love this car :-D

MK1 820E - SWEET RARITY

290420135683_zps24744c9d.jpg

THIS, is a great car! bread n' butter stuff. A big car capable of transporting 4 full-sized adults in comfort. Sounds like a Montego and drives how a Rover 800 shouldn't. But I LOVE this car. I love the fact it exist and that I own it. Similar reg to the equally Silver Mk1 825i that Gaydon apparently have (D170 OOJ vs my car D280 OOH) 8)8)

MICRA STERLING

RearSpeakers.jpg

Quality shizzle here. This is my Mothers car (so I'm told). Nevertheless I have treated and cared for it as if it is my own (and it bloody well will be if I get my own way). In fact, we have an agreement. Ma owns it and I am responsible for it, seems a bit unfair to me but someone needs to look after it. It's been with us since I was about 17, I am now 30. It's been on the road continuously since 1998 bar one year when it was kept under a sheet in a garage in Streetly when Ma bogged off to AussiLand.

I have added OEM dealer/factory 'options' to it since, rear speakers, A-pillar tweeters, OEM mats (from a Nissan March) rear trim cubby holes, rear ashtray. Wheel trims have lost but replaced thanks to muggins 'ere and his bank account. This little likeable little blob on wheels will have more work done to it soon, including re-fitting an OEM exhaust system, wiper motor change and coolant flush and gear link spring re-attached.

I love this car 8):-D

Absolute sod all change from me, I still own all of the cars above but additionally I did own and drive these for a while:

ROVER 827 COUPE - POOR RELATION

20140821_140519_zpsff757199.jpg

I'd always wanted an 827 Coupe, they looked like very cool cars, but I jumped in too fast to own one when this one came up for sale for a few hundred quid, I bought it blind whilst I was in France trusting the judgement of someone who frankly didn't give a shit about the condition of cars.

When I first clapped eyes on it, it was utterly filthy, the tyres were cracked to absolute buggery, the interior was a mess and the bodywork, although strong and fairly rust-free, just wasn't cosmetically great.

It was a fairly strong motor that had survived abuse and neglect from previous twat owners. I did try to reverse some of the neglect and give it some TLC. The interior was tidied and original stuff returned as much as I could. The tyres were changed and it became more of an acceptable motor, but I really wasn't smiling. It was about this time that I realised that there were better cars I could have for much the same money. Plus, I had a craving to try something different and possibly even non-Rover. As well as that, restoring the car to my standards would've cost me too much time and money, I really lost heart and decided to get shot of it.

It was later sold to a Rover 800/LPG enthusiast chap and is now happily living a much better life now than I could've given it.

MERCEDES E280 - GANGSTER MACHINE/MAFIA SQUAD CAR

IMG_2521_zps79340583.jpg

One of the best cars I've owned thus far. It was high-time I owned sonething non-Rover and this came up at the right time. Although there were a few mishaps early on, I was happily well on the way to getting this lovely motor up to very high standards mechanically and cosmetically. Unfortunately this was cut short by some arsehole who decided that he was the only one on the road and pulled a U-turn stright into the side of the Merc.

I've decided to be bloody minded about it and get it repaired. I've spent far too much money/time just to let it go.

So for now, the KV6 is providing me with much needed daily wheels.

It's been a while so I thought I'd update this with photos of my current fleet and hopefully photos of you all your current fleets!.

1zlpt7l.jpg

I'll start with the modern daily, it's a 1.6 TDCi Zetec-S, It's now 3 years old and covered a massive 16000 miles, So far it's been a great family car, cheap to run and spacious and perfect for the wife to ferry the girl about in.

This is the Astra replacement that i got last week, It's a 1.4 TDCi Zetec, My mum owned it for 8 years and even now it's only covered 27000 miles. It's basically a brand new car, It's cheap as chips to run but it really is gutless. I'm missing owning a old daily!

And my little Dolomite SE, I've had this a year now and pretty much gone though the whole car mechanically now, other than a problem with my wax stats that i must sort it's been a fab car to own.

This is about the only old-ish thing I have at the moment. I can hear the cries of "modern VAG toss GRR!!!!" from here but it is getting on for 19 years since the mk1 Octavia was launched. This one is from towards the end of the run, just before the mk2 was launched. I've always fancied one, I've always liked the styling of the mk1 Octy and the vRS has just the right amount of aggression without being too 'barry'. Our local police force couldn't get enough of them as undercover pursuit cars. They still run a 53 plate one which comes out to play now and again, which says a lot.

It's covered 130,000 miles and runs like a swiss watch. I was lucky to find it for sale just up the road from me. The p.o had intended it to be a keeper so had the timing belt/water pump done, full service with all filters, cooling system flushed and that fancy waterless coolant stuff put in, four mnew tyres (okay, Nankangs but the NS Sport ones which have so far managed to handle 180 bhp well enough in all weathers) and a reconditioned rear caliper with new rear discs and pads. So it was a pretty sorted example when I bought it. A year of daily usage and it hasnt put a single foot wrong. It now needs a minor service and a set of front discs and pads and that's about all it needs, really.

A five door car with 140 mph capability, and 40mpg, enough turbo'd grunt to see off the most pushy A4 s-line driver and a massive boot and room for five. I absolutely love it!post-5243-0-33003100-1471722720_thumb.jpgpost-5243-0-34661200-1471722780_thumb.jpg

Rover 75 diesel estate- general all round hack, has had a tough life ( at least 2 crashes judging by the replacement secondhand panels at the rear and offside) and is a bit battered but dependable, and since a bit of light tuning, faster than it looks; but you end up going slowly in it as the Trafford centre- esque interior is so cosseting.

post-4673-0-66200900-1471722953_thumb.jpg

CLK320 rust-edition. Not that well put together out of less durable materials than the rover. In these ways an insult to merc's supposed brand values; but a nice thing to smoke about in.
