320touring's Shitey Saab 9-5 Fuckitybye 16/1/21

Obviously, with having a frugal, sensible load lugger in the Berlingo, I had to rebel..

A 2003 2.0t Saab 9-5 Vector Estate.

It has a COVID-19 MOT til Jan 21, and 128k on the clock.

It's had all the important things done - sump drop, new clutch. Posh tyres too.

There are some issues:

Got it with a flat battery - despite 2 days of charging, the resting voltage is 8.4v so it's toast.

Ignition switch is an 'acquired technique' to get it started - replacement a likely plan.

Bonnet doesn't always release on both sides

Rattle from front suspension

One rear door doesn't work on the central locking

Only the 150bhp 2.0

But MOST CRITICALLY - the snazzy cupholder doesn't work!

It's had a clean inside but badly needs a wash

Anyway, enough nattering:

Leather seats too, you are winning, and a glutton for punishment!

Is this the same engine as a 2006 9-3 with a 2.0 150bhp unit. If so noob tune can probably get this to 220bhp. Not getting this done to my 9-3 is a regret.

Believe it is:)

Need to work out what I am doing with it, but well aware of noob tune;)

No it isn't, the 9-5 kept using the venerable Saab H engine and the 2006 9-3 uses a GM derived engine.

I like it! Good looking car and a sensible and relatively economical load lugger.

There is at least one at UPI if bits are needed.

I have a 2004  9-5  2.0 auto with stage one Noobtune and lowered 35mm--the car is transformed!

My Dads 1984 900i had the H engine!

Top knowledge on all fronts:)

Glad you approve - what did you lower it with (brand of springs?)

Woof!! Lovely, my fave front end styling job on that one. Not a fan of the dame Edna look here.

My cupholder doesn't work either. I feel your pain..............?

I might have a spare ignition switch in my assorted box of saab bits. I'll have a look tomorrow and chuck it your way if I do.

Cor, that looks a bit proper!

Half of those issues sound ignorable, I mean who cares about a non locking rear door?

Handsome. Very handsome.

I miss my Aero very much, the Volvo I've got now is almost but not quite as good as it in every way (even handling).

Knock from front will be drop links.

I approve

It's only from the front right - almost sounds like a worn bush in a bottom arm?

Doesn't seem to do it over speedbumps, but does over potholes

More importantly does the night panel work?

I discovered two more cup holders in our 9-5 yesterday. Pull down the rear passenger arm rest and they are in the end of that.

I propose the formation of the SSM.

I will announce meetings to every member by starting up my 9000, as the exhaust is leaking so badly right now they should hear it.

A most excellent plan:)

Think this one has a blow too. (Fnar)

I'd be heartbroken if the cupholder broke in my 9-3, it's the best feature ? Seems to be a common fault with these Saabs
