That's not so bad, if you cut back to the adjacenct car you'll find fresh metal to weld to.

Oh well.

Did you park it next to a Transit? Poor ol' Chevy.

Nah, better to run it into the  ground then scrap it. WBAC saying £175, CTB saying £214.

MOT is till Jan, I'll see how long I can make it last without spending any money on it.

It will torture you by lasting longer than a Fray Bentos pie.

Yep, you know it. 🤣 It'll probably pass another MOT knowing my luck

Aargh.

Tested some paint on the grille and it was a good match, so bought some more. Miles out this time. 🙄

At least it's painted now I guess.

WIth how tiny it's engine is, would it not be a hilarious conversion for a Invacar?

Or in a Field of Dreams lawnmower

Stick it on eBay/ Autotrader for £995. Given the current stupidity you will seriously walk away with that, possibly more.

At £175 I'll be asking my mate if I can stick it on his drive....

I know which £214 I'd be having right now. That's like finding a pear in the bottom of the fruit bowl that's been there for 3 weeks and there's fruit flies crawling over it.

Yep, this 'drive it until it dies' strategy may not last as long as I first thought...

Uh oh...

Still, might just be trivial thing.

Best ignored until you get symptoms. Maybe.

I looked it up for you and apparently it's Daewoo Chevy for 'My engine mounts are quite crispy'.

It'll be fine*.

I did the Vauxhall fix of turning on and off a few times and the light didn't reappear. I may have disturbed something earlier today when I changed* the air filter, which was filthy and looked to have never been changed since 2007.

*bodged on an old cone filter, making the car have hilarious 'induction' noise.

Chevy will be off soon hopefully.

Peugeot 309 due in tomorrow, see separate thread.

AX will move up to daily duties.

Picture of how far out the front bumper is now. At least it's not hand painted Hammerite anymore.

Wow, saviour of old French chod! Can't wait for arrival of 309 - AX bumper looks a lot better now, I couldn't work out what had been done to it previously but mechanical stuff always took precedence on occasional days off!

Posted

I'm tempted to do the whole lower half in the off-white, like a bad two tone effect....

Which reminds me @AxWomble, what is the brake cable thing in the passenger grab handle for?

With a 309 incoming here, I reckon it's about time @richbraithtells us what's just replaced *his* 309

Not a bad shout, or maybe a fetching shade of beige?

Ah, I wondered when that would come up again!  It’s a patented* remote boot release, of my own invention. The clamp/cable slack might want taking up again but if you stick your hand in the grab handle as normal and then pull down on the cable, the boot catch should release. Handy when you’ve got no central locking and you want to be opening the boot frequently or with the engine running or whatever, which had been driving me mad!

do the rear bumper then it will look period correct for when they did colour coded bumpers rather than body coloured

Oh. Not the ejector seat then?

As soon as he asked I did think of saying that, but then the baby had a nappy incident and my mind was drawn elsewhere 😕 great minds!

Ax has a bit of a cough, and sometimes a bit hesitant. Trying to diagnose 😬

Have you filled it up with E10 perchance? Friend's Toyota Starlet is hesitant and coughs on the new fuel.

Otherwise, it could be a dirty injector.
