The "WTF is that?" thread

Hotly pursued by what looks like a Barkas B1000.

Some sort of amphibious Mk1 Granada.

Also known as the Herzog Conte Shwimmwagen.

What a fab thing for going your holidays in.

Capable of driving through duckponds or across rivers whilst still retaining the ability to blend in discreetly with supermarket traffic.

'Capable of 100mph on land' apparently.

That's a good question. I have no idea, but I'd put money on the fact it should have a pop-up headlamp cover which is missing. Might narrow it down some?

I’d love it to be something rare and exotic like an ISO Fidia or a Rapport  Ritz , with , as @barrett suggests the pop up panel missing . But I think @High Jettermay be onto something with his damaged SD1 with Federal lights theory.

My first thought was an Iso Lele, with the half eyelid lamp cover but the bonnet opening is wrong.
It's an oddly proportioned thing, the lights are tiny and the door mirror is huge. Something says 70s Japanese to me, but I can't place it.

I also wonder if the headlamps aren't a bit of a red herring, they look very much like the late E30 BMW ones but it's no BMW.

Funny enough my first thought was Colt Sapporo, but those giant door mirrors and slight bulge of the rear wing don’t really fit.

I thought 78 Celica Liftback but we can eliminate that one too.

Also thought about Colt Celeste but it's definitely not one of those.  Or any Datsun I can think of.  Or Mazda.

So WTF is it?

Maybe a bit clearer?

Looks like it may be a cabriolet

The shape of the chrome trim on the windscreen is clearly SD1; it's identical to the one that's for sale. I'm with High Jetter on this one.

Where are the gingercators or their apertures?

And has anyone asked the seller?

I ruled it out for the same reason - and because the crease line is crisper on the mystery car.

Could it be a broken one of these?

I think we have a winner... 💯

I've messaged the seller along with another forum member. No response in the past 24hrs.

Some solid guesses but I don't want to die not knowing the answer to this

Nah, the lights are different.

It's what the lights may well look like with the front element smashed, and just parts of the reflector remaining, or something as simple as an aftermarket part.

Look at the shape of the wing at the front, the cutout matches perfectly.
