I cannae see it, it's behind the FB wall.

I think I have learned that 2.0 EFi (and diesel?) uses a different PAS setup to 1.3/1.6 cars, something to do with the shape of the VW box versus the Honda box.

Montego 2.0 Vanden Plas

Is that beige denim seat fabric? Unbelievably cool.

Anyway back at Citroen R&D, 1973:

"Where shall we put the heater controls?"

"By the driver's arse"

"What about in the centre console?"

"No, we've already put an empty box there"

It's a car from the future right? They put that little box there for your phone.

Wasn't there another Citroen that had the radio (mounted vertically) where those heater controls are? I have a vague childhood memory of getting a lift in one in the 80s - I thought it was a CX but maybe it was a GS. It was batshit compared to my dad's Datsun anyway.

Yep, GS & GSA plus CX Mk2 had radio by your left arse cheek. It's a shame they'd not invented steering column stalk controls for remote radio control at that point.

My only childhood memory of such Citroens is getting a lift in a mate's dad's GS and the dad flapping about it overheating while we were idling and stopped. Which I don't really understand because it was air cooled...?

That would be a very useful source of spares including the PAS as you say. However it requires a) transporting and b) a house with enough space to take it to pieces. Neither of which I have at the moment. Annoying.

Another unit next to Maestro if available/not stupidly expensive?

The head lining on that Montego looks like my best 'going out' undies.

Citroen rectified that with the series 2 which put the heater controls in plain site on the centre console, and the radio vertically between the seats.

It might seem odd nowadays, but other cars had heater controls down between the seats back then. Air-cooled Fiats and VWs for example. Even the radio between the seats is not as daft as may be first thought: with just 5 or 6 pre-sets and volume control, you really don’t need to look at what you are doing.

Compared to the ergonomic disaster of Tesla’s touch-screen-for-everything, the CX is ergonomically utterly brilliant.

It's in Blackpool, so you can probably say you've ridden worse on your stag night there.

Also, it's not really that far from @UltraWomble and your fancy car that this would fit in. #justsayingM8

That's delightfully grim

Thanks for the heads up

A shaftdrive moped? Yamaha were obviously experimenting with mind altering substances at the time.

Didn't the Imp have the choke lever by the handbrake?

Oooh a crashed, well past it example of a car that’s been unsuitably stored forever and needs everything at 7x the value of the finished product? It would take an absolute madman to take pity on the car and get it back on the road?
This is right up my street then, good thing it’s across the continent.
