What a lovely old thing, but the asking price seems wildly optimistic.

Park Royal Vehicles were a major manufacturer of bus and other commercial vehicle bodies in N. London. Turned out some amazing stuff:

This lorry looks of the highest quality and I do hope it passes into sympathetic new ownership. Possibly a unique survivor...

Factory closed in 1979 during BL's 'rationalisation'.

Many were unhappy about this. This what was said in Parliament:

I wish I could go back in time and buy @HMC's one.

Yeah, that was another crazy good deal from him. Immediately flipped by the next owner for significantly more.

Rare GTi that is popular with the rally crowd. Looks cheap when compared with other cars of a similar ilk.

That will go for strong money I would suspect.

HOWEVER.... it's not been MOTed for 13 years, but clearly driven. It's somehow accrued 30,000 miles since its last MOT, which I suspect wasn't done in a year (Have you ever driven one of these? They're uncomfortable for a daily). Owner has probably accrued a ban for driving without insurance, MOT and so on.

And only 7 left on the roads? What a load of bollocks. These are import vehicles, so "Howmanyleft" often underreports the numbers. But even it says there are 53 currently Taxed and 208 SORN. Knowing 2 of the owners who are the type to SORN a vehicle, but drive it around anyway, I'd not be surprised if most of them aren't on the road 🤣
Once this one gets MOTed and Taxed, it'll get cloned quite quickly a dozen times.

Great, fun cars though. A mate has one that's had the full Mitsubishi Evo 4wd and engine treatment. It's an absolute monster.

...

I would guess that it has had a long holiday, possibly in Ireland.

14 years of not being caught is a LONG holiday 🤣

Do Ireland not care?

Ooh I like that, digital dash too. However something a bit odd.  Last MOTd in 2012 with an advisory on sill corrosion. However the MOT mileages show from 7000 in 2006 to 18000 in 2012. So if the odometer is correct it did almost 50k in 2012-2013.   and only did 7k (or went around the clock) between 93 and 2006.  Guess it could have also had a replacement dash .  Still bloody cool though

EDIT

The odometer actually looks to desplaying 6700, not 67,000

Probably just not noticed. 30k miles in 14 years suggests it was used little.

If you're a policeman who spots it occasionally over the course of 14 years, why would you assume it has spent all that time in the country? You'd assume that the owner is just an occasional visitor to the area.

Yeah, that's probably true.
I don't know how advanced Ireland are in regards to things like ANPR, but particularly if it's near the border, I don't suppose anyone checks.

I don't think ANPR is really that good for this or used for this purpose anyway.

It could be used to show a car was in a certain place at a certain time, but of limited use for any more. I mean, if it was left in a garage or on a driveway most of the time and driven very occasionally, what would we learn from ANPR?

Iveco Spa sounds like an idyllic holiday retreat in the Dolomites, but is actually what happens inside the cab when it rains.

I guess they then rely on someone telling them.

Happened to my neighbour - we still don't know who was upset with it. They originally lived in Spain and brought back one of their cars. They barely used it - sat outside their house most of the time except when it did a trip twice a year back to Spain.

Someone stitched them up.
