I love US porridge from that era, but boy do I hate those silly half vinyl roofs and rear quarterlights manufacturers often bolted on. I reckon with standard widgth windows and a metal roof, it'd look pretty good. Funny how it has manual windows.

Things were still a little different in the early 80s but by the 90s most of these Landau roofs were aftermarket add-ons installed by dealers for people who couldn't help themselves. I've seen them on so many cars where they looked entirely out of place. Case in point:

Indeed, I found it really interesting to see the rapid evolution in USDM cars in the 1980s while watching different series of Motorweek and other car test/review groups from that time. Probably the biggest aesthetic changes I saw were when sealed beams and 5mph bumpers were ditched.

Sometimes used by repair shops to cover up a damaged/repaired roof?

Not really, almost all of them were installed when new. Installing them would be more expensive than fixing any damage that could be hidden by them. They do cause damage by trapping moisture over the decades though.

Yeah, the move away from sealed beam headlights and introduction of flush glass was a huge step in design. Much more visible on cars in the US where it happened much less gradually than in Europe or Japan. Hence me appreciating cars from that time so much, imagine walking into a showroom in 1989 while still surrounded by cars from 10 years earlier outside of said showroom. The jump in design, technology and quality couldn't have been bigger.

Yeah, that brake 'hose' being held on by cable ties looks amazing, M8.

1300 Dolomite with the combination of square headlights and long boot that weren’t made until after 1976 registered as a 1971 Triumph 1500… Looks suspiciously like a legacy of when the cut-off for free VED was frozen at 1972 for 15 years.

Only sprints came with a vinyl roof from the factory so this one must have had it added later on.

There's something a bit strange about this.

Front end is like the style of the Phantom but doesn’t look quite right. Grill for example is a bit tall and more like an older generation Royce. Dash is also older style, maybe Silver Spirit, however 2013 registration would be consistent with a Phantom and too new for a rebodied Silver Spirit.

Comes back on Carbaba as a McAllister Mirage RR, so I'd guess at it either being based on a Silver Spirit (based on the dash) and somehow reregistered as a new build, or just a complete mish-mash of RR parts.

Either way, they probably shouldn't be using the RR badges...

This could be a bargain if had for around the starting price

If you lived a hundred miles away, you could probably get it delivered in about a month. That would give you 29 days to ride it out of his garage, then meet the fella with the van who's collecting it for you.

OOF!  Price not Dreamland... check.  Geographically within range... check.  Single-wheel pickup, that's fine.  Facelift, well ok, I could live with that.  BUT: welding project, and anyway doesn't run and has no keys.

Number plate is excellent though.

Worth £500 to strip to be honest. Not worth putting back on the road again.

There is no point.

Gearbox is probably fine and only going into limp mode as the abs module is showing a fault. Most modern autos need to speak to the ECU and ABS to function properly. ECU to get engine load measurements, ABS for speed and steering angle. Without it, it trips itself into limp mode.

You're probably better off putting this in the eBay thread than making a new thread.
