Did BL not sell there, or has it all just disappeared?

Think Marina was sold here but not Ital, and was not sold so many Marina here and few have survived. So Marinas are rare here. And Proton was never sold here.

The owner of this was dedicated. Building his own Lancia shooting brake and using it regularly for well over a decade, instead of just trading it in for a factory built estate car!

This reminds me of that barmy 1.6 Zetec-engined Vivaro (or clone) on the eBay tat thread.

So much effort! So little gain!

I have 2 issues with this

Firstly

Whilst technically, the C5 was sold in the UK if you imported one, I don't believe it was ever sold as a UK car - LHD only import.

If we're playing that game, then theoretically you can still buy a car with pop-up lights that meets legalities (but not in California apparently)

https://www.aresdesign.com/en-us/cars/panther-progettouno/

It's a copy of the 1970s Pantera.

So.... the last car I believe to be sold in the UK as a UK car was a Lotus Esprit v8, of which 1 was registered in 2004 (according to HowManyLeft)

I'd love to pretend I knew all that, but I didn't. I'm quoting from this place  and being a smart arse. So please do prove me wrong.

Well, it's clearly one of those answers that are "open to interpretation". You can move the definitions around as much as you like, to get the answer you like.

FWIW I think you're all right...  xD

Let me show my reasoning!

The Pantera copy isn't a "new" design per-se, but a reworking of an early 1970s one (arguably a late 1960s one given it debuted in March 1970, and factoring in the time it takes to develop and manufacture something like this).

The Esprit and Corvette both had production runs from 1996 to 2004, so while the Esprit might have the de facto last registration of a car with pop-up lights, you could argue the Corvette was also still available.

The really nit-picky answer would be "probably some half-dead MX-5 that sold 30 seconds ago on Craigslist/Gumtree/ebay/Auto Trader. After all, the question didn't specify it had to be a car being sold new...  >;D

There's a part of me that's tempted to buy it with the proceeds of my Granada sale.

Good grief, that's hideous. I love it.

"Runs and drives however difficult to engage gears. Will need clutch bleeding."

Or is that a typo for "needs a bleedin clutch"?

That's been for sale on Marketplace for a while, the lapsed MOT is mildly suspicious and seems to be putting people off.
