The Pantera copy isn't a "new" design per-se, but a reworking of an early 1970s one (arguably a late 1960s one given it debuted in March 1970, and factoring in the time it takes to develop and manufacture something like this). The Esprit and Corvette both had production runs from 1996 to 2004, so while the Esprit might have the de facto last registration of a car with pop-up lights, you could argue the Corvette was also still available. The really nit-picky answer would be "probably some half-dead MX-5 that sold 30 seconds ago on Craigslist/Gumtree/ebay/Auto Trader.
