eBay tat volume 3.

B2 Passat estate is rare enough but a B2 Passat estate with 5 cylinder engine is extremely rare. And in addition, this has only had one owner and only 140,000 km. I'm struggling now as I really want this but have a hard time getting it. And it makes me angry and frustrated.

Prototype ADO71 in Morris form. There's a resto thread on this from a while back, I'll try to find it.

That listing undersells the huge amount of work done in the resto. Looks like the paint has some weird issues going on though which is a shame.

It seems to be going through owners fairly quickly.

Here's @rovamota's resto thread:

Amazing. Shows how good these looked. And the difference a little good detailing can make to a car. Ford would never have made the mistakes BL did.

This has a bit of jewellery that lifts the design from the everyday and looks better overall than the Princess production cars.

Front looks better than the bland Princess with grille and bonnet ridge  - and what marketing guru thought abandoning established brand names in favour of naff Princess was a good idea.

Having darker and more sports looking wheels sets off the body and improves the stance.

This does not seem to suffer from that 'rump-up' look that the Princess seem to have which made them look so gooney. It also looks better with a body-colour C-pillar.  Also a decent colour does it a lot of favours

I thought these looked awful but can now see what Harris Mann was after looks-wise. BL seemed always to grab failure from the jaws of success.

You can see how an MG version would have worked as well.

Interesting comparison  with the Lancia which was a much more expensive car and points the way to what a 'Mk2' "Princess" could have looked like with integrated bumpers and rubbing strip and darker cills modernising the body. Why mess about with Ambassador when a hatch on the Princess wd have worked just fine.

That is a new one on me, always thought the 5 pots were the Audi end of the VAG spectrum

On the sales page it states the engine size as 1.2cc which was the Sporting, The Hgt was a 1.7cc engine as shared with the Barchetta.

And was a quick car, unfortunatly for me I bought the 6 speed manual geared sporting brand new in year 2000 from Dixon motors of Grimsby.

Biggest pile of steaming shite I've had the misfortune to purchase, engine was rattling after 1500 miles, cv joints knackered at 2000 miles. Steering faults and lots of other niggles. £11500 Brand new and they offered £7500 at 6 months old. Utter creatins .

And it was bloody slow, had to keep going through the 6 speed box to maintain a pace,  a standard cinquecento was nearly as quick, so dread to think what the slush box would be like

After the difficulties I have with getting cars, I have started looking at trucks. And 3.5 ton  car transporters are expensive. So have started looking at options this here is more in my price class.

This is a 1973 Opel Blitz with 70 horsepower petrol engine so cross country trips fully loaded through the mountains in Norway would probably be exciting.

Trucks because you can't find a suitable car or trucks to carry home the cars you find?

A truck to transport cars I find. Seriously think that this is something I have to think about as it would make things much easier but things can also quickly get out of control if I were to get one.

Yes I was thinking the same, it removes a very valid excuse not to so the floodgates then open

Pictures are from 18 months ago, No MOT and the clutch needs doing but it’s £<500 which if it’s OK in the flesh could be a decent deal.

Last MOT was nearly 4 years ago and had a sticky calliper. It’s not been driven for 3 years and I guarantee you’ll have trouble with the entire braking system.

in addition,  DO NOT try and change the clutch on axle stands and even then, expect it to take twice as long as any other car you’ve done. Ask me how I know 😂

There’s a reason why the clutch is £80 and the labour over £300
