Mark 2 VW Golf van with 1,050cc engine and 4 speed gearbox for that utterly miserable driving experience.

I had a 1050cc Mk2 Golf once - it actually wasn't as miserable as you'd expect, at least around town, thanks to comically low gearing. It'd beat a 1.3 to 30. Ran out of puff at 80 though so wasn't a motorway car.

Anyone else prefer the recessed lights of the povo spec Metros?

Yes and it's getting very difficult to resist the urge to buy one with all these Metros turning up on here!

Want, want, want, want, want, want, WANT!

Not so much BITD but I do like them now..

+1 on the lights.... No idea why but I do prefer the recessed lights. I'm becoming more and more tempted by an A-series metro... parts don't seem too scare, it has the simple A-series engine, cheap to buy, presumably relatively cheap to run and not too big. There's got to be a massive that I've missed other than becoming a metro owner.

That Mini's partial leather like my sister is partial Elle Macpherson.

Meanwhile, got a MIG welder and a few miles of wire for Christmas and wondering what to do with them? Look no further:

Now that's what I call patina.

This one sounds like a good bet:

few minor problems:

heater has stopped working this week likely to be thermostat.

hose which connects coolant to radiator split (possibly frozen)

there is no coolant in it as i do not have time to sort it out

Yeah right! best budget for a new engine I think

Earn $$$ by investing 1500 quid in this (+probably another 10 grand getting it through it's MOT) then driving it around your local town centre stuffed full of chesty potato shaped women hanging out the roof drinking blue WKD.

I'm in

At 450 quid you could surely scoot about in this until the MOT gave way then ship it off to uzcheqistania?

Hello, Wankshaft and McTwatty Customs, how can I help?

Yes, I'd like a picture of Paul Whitehouse with a balloon up his jumper

Easily done

wearing brown mittens.

That's no problem

But I want him to look like he's gone massive big fat leg

'yes, sir, that's fine, we can do that'

Holding a gun

'yeah, yeah'

With population paste leaking from his trousers?

'FFS, YES! We CAN do that!'

THIS CAR HAS BEEN OFF THE ROAD SINCE 1977

I HAVE NOT HAD THE TIME TO BEGIN ANY WORK ON IT

CONSIDERING THE AGE OF THIS VEHICLE, THE BODY AND UNDERSIDE ARE CONSIDERABLY GOOD, THERE ARE A FEW AREAS THAT WILL REQUIRE WELDING, O/S OUT RIGGER, SMALL 2-3" HOLE IN BOOT FLOOR, BOTTOMS OF ALL DOORS WILL REQUIRE ATTENTION, BUT NOTHING MAJOR

OK YAH - I have never even seen this car, but can tell that it is as rusty as a fishermans bucket just off the fuggin tiny photos, I bet those wheelarches are 'solid' Isopon.

That needs preserving as is, just to act as a beautiful reminder of seventies modifying in all its wanky glory.
