I bet this is fun to work on. No chance if you've got sausage fingers

Once you remove all the removable crap that BMW put on top of the engine, they're not as bad as you think

That huge plastic scuttle makes it look like it's practically mid engined!

I like older BMs, and will often try to defend them but this looks shit. It's never going to be like an original M3, it's almost impossible to market a car like that these days, encumbered as they are by air bags, ABS, power steering, air con, electric windows all round etc, etc.

And the engine, fucking woeful, didn't they learn about aluminium liners ages ago, what with the nicasil issues. The power output is hopeless, BMW marketing should be embarrassed to advertise that with less than 100 bhp per litre.

I'd be genuine happy for somebody to tell me that it drives like a modern day e30 M3 and dances across the road at the mildest twitch of the wheel with a compliancy that defies belief...

But with all that lard and 18" wheels, I doubt it.

I don't think that car exists because of reasons of marketing, more that BMW had to do it because of BMW Motorsports activities. It was also priced cheaper than a standard one, probably to help shift them as fast as possible.

But then only BMW could get away with their customers in selling something that obviously wasn't intended for normal road use and get away with it! I bet the BMW marketing bods are paid a fair few pennies - and to be fair, look like BMW get theirs money worth out of them!

It's certainly interesting in a wouldn't want to own one kind of way. Like the Laguna and the IDE engines.

I picked at random from all the ones on sale on ebay

120,000 MILES WITH FULL BMW SERVICE HISTORY

NEW ENGINE FITTED 30,000 MILES AGO AT BMW COSTING OVER £8000

and...

These engines suffered with poor engine blocks that failed. But not this one. It has recently had a new BMW genuine modified block and Pistons  installed with no cost spared. £2700 spent on new engine and chains.

the body damage was done at the stable yard where she keep her horse while it was parked

Oh good, cos the first question I had was "What were the geographical location and vague circumstances under which the body damage occurred?

had new breakes

Special award - many people use the wrong word, only a few manage the heady heights of mispelling it too.
