eBay tat volume 3.

Which is why I'm now gently caressing the idea of doing just a wee bit of saving, and then seeing if I can basically buy, tax and insure a car for under £500.

Trying to do it for £500 is tough unless you already have, say 10 years NCD on a 2nd car.

pre-2001 mid sized saloon under 1549cc (£85 cheaper on the tax)?

GRDT that's been sat in a field for a couple of years.

I call bullshit.

Having a punt because it's £150 anyway...

So I've been having a bit of a bid on this.

My main issue is it's 120 miles away, with no MOT and hasn't seen a road for 2+ years.

Anyone in the Bristol area know of somewhere I can bung it for an MOT and establish what it might need? +- store +- can repair it.

It fulfills many of my current want criteria for a WBOD/ work hack.

Probably too modern for most tastes here, but I've recently become obsessed with Ssangyongs.

Look at all the VFM going on here...

Good man. I like them too, even the Rodius looks ok to me.

A Ssangyong dealership near me had a Musso pickup when they were new, I've only seen a couple since, they look great.

Fun Rexton fact, the '290' version is veg friendly.

Yeah, the insurance bit might be where it all falls apart. I've got 10+yrs NCD but it's only ever been on one car. The second car will have no NCD....

Still, tax-wise it looks like a 1.6 V40 is on the cards!

3 Door N15 looks much nicer than the 5 door.

^ That's quite handy actually, I can tell what it will look like if I take my glasses off without the inconvenience of actually removing them.

"Rover Cabriolet 1.6i 16v TWIN CAM Lotus" Lotus?

I suppose you could sort of argue that it is the same engine in the Elise.

There's a vague chance that the buyer of that Blur-O-Car won't realise he's actually bidding for a Laguna II until he collects. Pretty good marketing strategy IMHO.

Vauxhall's answer to the Vel Satis? Mebby cheap enough if you're brave enough and don't mind the dinged quarter or the fact the owner is proud of flogging round the Nurburgring.

That has had a new rear subframe following the rear shunt apparently - it looks to be riding a bit low at the back end and has no MOT.....

I like these (my stepdad has one) a lot - but not that one.

"Has anyone bought a car blind, and it turns out Ok?"

Tis the ONLY way to do it, preferably many miles, continents or hemispheres away..

Tis the preferred route of the original Shiters here.! And the founding basis of this forum,

Here here, I think a foreign country should be involved at least once in a happy shiters buying life...

So far bought;

3 DS's in Holland, 2 very good, 1 not so.

Renault 4 in France which was great and an Estaffette that turned out to be superb beyond all expectations...

Oh and another 4 that broke down, a lot and had to be recovered home.

America this summer, watching LA craigs list...
