Or just a long stroke Landcrab engine. The Landcrab 2200 was in effect a 6cyl Maxi 1500 and this was a 6cyl Maxi 1750. British Leyland actually tried a few 2600s in Landcrabs but decided it was a bit wobbly. I can't remember the exact problems but they decided it was a step too far which is unusual for British Leyland who have form in putting out underdeveloped stuff to the general public. 

Leyland Australia on the other hand just thought fuck it, let's do it. Presumably on the assumption that it's a Marina, how much worse can it get.

Far as I know they needed  something to compete in the 6 cylinder market with the 3.3/4.1 cortina,Holden torana ,etc but the "C" series was to heavy ( witness the MGC) same for triumph S6  &  both where to  torquey for any axle that would fit rover V8 was likewise to powerful.

So a sort of bastardised  2200 eng was fitted ,  which all added up to the same disappointment as the rest of the marinas as far as the public were concerned.

Just come to post this, would love one of these, remember seeing one in about '85 and loving the look.  The Celebrity was 1300 Black & silver and the Exp was 1600 black & gold
