Typical don't know their own laws/rules it's exempt.

DVLA always shows 'expired' on MoT exempt 'Historic Vehicles' - the detail is in the 'MoT exemption guidance' - one of those DVLA eccentricities to catch out the unwary. There is probably some deep meaning for this that @LightBulbFun might have information on.

I was more interested in that it's clearly not much a Land Rover - I think the ad says there is some problem with the registration. Probably a PITA to put back on the road - even if it is safe.

The value probably lies in the GM diesel V8 engine.

DVSA! the MOT stuff is responsibility of the DVSA,  otherwise yes, any vehicle thats had an MOT through the DVSA's database thats been allowed to expire without renewal will show that warning, note that it does say "may be exempt", as the DVSA themselves have no way of knowing if any vehicle is actually MOT exempt or not (just because a given vehicle is over 40 years old does not necessarily mean its MOT exempt)

4 door Alfa Sud, not unreasonably priced if it's not turned to dust.

when I was in my teens, my dad tried to talk me into buying a 3 year old mk 1 Alfasud from a main dealer in Bristol - All my mates were in Fords and the Alfa was visible rusting before my eyes (he also tried to talk me into buying a bright metallic green Allegro "equipe" which had flat tyres due to the porous alloys on the same day ) miss my dad - soon after he bought a Fiat 128 1300 - brand new on a X reg for £2995 ISH on interest free - we rust proofed it with in an inch of its italian life - it started to rust within a year - drove so well though   - sorry for the off topic

It's a miracle how any Alfa Suds survived at all.

thats the DVLA's checker which will return no results found for any possibly MOT exempt vehicle thats not currently MOT'ed

these 2 are separate entities  and behave in their own manner independently from each other, (although they will sometimes borrow data from each other, but how that data is interpreted is different)

Looking a useful bit of kit - plentiful room in that.

They need some beefing up in the rear to stop them flexing if you lop the roof and the coffin bed out,  but that would make an ace pick up.

@Somerset Suffolk this appears to corroborate your Italian metal stories.

Your dad sounds cool though, imagine if you'd bought the Allegro Equipe and kept it going up to now - you'd be beating them off with a shitty stick.

Friend of mine has a silver Equipe which is super mint/no expense spared, but it rarely sees the light of day. Also owns a Maestro turbo, clearly one of life's winnars

Mine bought a brand new Tabot Horizon on an A reg - we lived in a seaside village. He claimed that it was made of sterner stuff that the Simca predecessors which were all mouldering around the area.
It did last until D reg when it barely made it to the new, local Skoda franchise without dissolving.
Skoda man till the end then (bar a Pug 3008 that nobody mentions)

OK some tat - I'll see your manual SLK up above (which does have some decent looking front wings) for this one:

Bargain in Bath (not Truro) only £250. Did I mention it's a non-runner (no shit, Sherlock)
