Looks familiar... wasn't this on ebay a while ago?

I posted it up a few months back but can't remember where it was for sale, could well have been eBay, looks quite different now but there surely can't be two of these with N241*** registrations and almost identical mileages so maybe it's just had TLC and a polish in the meantime.

This is local to me. Reckon it's a bit over priced considering it has no MOT? Looks tidyish otherwise. Not sure I cba trying to get an MOT though - my local favourite place is 3 to 4 weeks wait at the moment.

Not that I need another car but after selling my Boxster, I have a free insurance policy that will auto cancel within 7 days otherwise... [/man-maths]

Seems cheap enough, I was only looking at quattros but the cheapest I saw was an older one for £2000.

Bit weird that they wouldn't just put it in for a test as if it passes they could ask significantly more for it? But it's not been in and failed so who knows.

Did think that but most of their 168 car stock is 20k+ with some going over 250k. Probably just CBA especially with difficult to get MOT slots. Think I'd prefer one with an MOT (even if short) as less hassle and expense moving it. History looks clean enough though. I'd like an auto but harder to find.

Iirc quattro equipped cars are in the £700 odd tax bracket?

1965 Ford Zephyr 4 Mk3 £850 on Facebook, in Carmarthen, doesn't look bad for that price.

Been standing for several years, its had a lot of work done by different people,  due to the standing will need more work.  It has a recorded cat C at some point. Passenger front wing fibre glass. Car will need front to rear check and or repair plus full respray. Interior fair  some reassembly and 1 door card needed. Engine turns freely.

My S3 is 217g/km, can't see a DSG being much higher. Maybe just 3.2 v6s are?

I'd check what the tax is on that before you commit to anything, but yeah no MOT always sets alarm bells off for me, just put it through one for gods sake.

£240 p/a according to Autotrader. I think these are a later engine than the Golf Mk5 GTI. From memory at this age they went to all chains from a cambelt+chain that is on the earlier one. Which, being German, isn't necessarily the best of things.

Tbh I think I'll give it a miss. Bit too expensive to take a gamble on when you can reasonably easily get the pre-facelift 2.0T with an MOT for a few hundred quid more.

yeah the later engines are chain only, earlier are belt and chain, mines belt and chain (between cams) being an early car with higher compression.

Yeah I think it must be the 3.2 that are the mega tax. Probably because you can drive a 2.0TFSI off boost for regulatory testing and magically get the CO2 figure down.
