58k mile 106 for an oddly specific 535 quid:

535 is the international Colour code for a white, 3500K halophosphor fluorescent tube (5 for 50-59 the colour rendering index 35 for 3500K the colour temperature)

maybe he was struggling to come up with a price, then looked up and had a... lightbulb moment?

image.thumb.png.65b27d4f7cdc388a6ae1b096c91e8dd1.png

(35 also happens to be the british colour code for a white fluorescent tube, but thats just a coincidence, the british code for Cool white for example is 33 but 640 is its international code, 6 for 60-69 CRI, 40 for 4000K )

58+106+535 also happens to be 699, the year Saint Sexburga of Ely died. Google sexburger and what do you get? This picture of a guy in a black jacket. The color of the car that is being sold. Coincidence? I think not!

This is god afwul.

That is (or was) a MK3 Fiesta XR2i from the TV Show "Chop Shop". It was modified to be the "Boy Racer's Dream", and turned into this atrocious... thing.

The real question is crush, or keep it... as a warning.

That Merc is lovely, pity it’s a four banger.

The original paint on these (Glasurit) is of the highest quality and a good polish would have that looking better than any new car.

1500HL with 1850 running gear, 495 quid:

The rear sticker indicates it was originally from a BL dealer called Hisley of High Street, (something). Does anyone have any info on that dealer?

Hidsons of Rainham were a genuine family run business that have been trading since the 1950's but alas the JCB group bought them out in 2018..

They became Hidsons Citroen (and Vauxhall) after dropping Rover and in the late 90's when i used them had a decent parts department with a  trade delivery driver you could set your watch by.

And a manual.

I always thought the W124 worked best in lower spec 4 cylinder guise, although the sweet spot was an auto 230e with a/c, the fact that you could buy fully loaded Scorpios, Sterling’s and Senators for the same money meant they weren’t that popular with company car user choosers.

To me, the 6 cylinder models were out of their depth in the marketplace against XJ40s, 7 Series and even W126 S Classes- I remember a 300e-24 and 300SE being delivered on the same day and the 124 cost more! (That was also the first 5 speed auto I ever drove)

I must be alone in that I quite like the long throw rubbery manual change too, as with XMs I never  understood the moaning about 4 pedals , as I pretty much always managed to remember to be in neutral when stopping and applying the parking brake.

Fuck me, I’m talking myself into one of these , just when I’m trying to conserve some money for when Trigger sells his Scorpio( or I have to buy food to survive no work!)

Sorry brain fade-in last post it was a loaded300 TE , funnily enough a manual, that arrived at the same time as G64 PFC and cost more.
tThe 300-24 was a year or two later and must have cost about the same as an LS400 that other board members had at the time.

ive never noticed the cladding below the rubbing strip on these before.

Also they would seem a very cost effective way into a Mark2 that doesn’t need  @TripleRich levels of welding.

Interestingly,  eBay is definitely quieter than it was. But Gumtree is busier than ever and the shit being advertised is worse than normal.
