the elise engine is an 1800 i believe with fancy cams and variable valve timing meaning more horse powers,

 

so in a car weighing about the same a packet of crisps mean that it should be pretty rapid, well until the inevitable OMGHGF occurs.

There was a vvc 1.8 k series in the MGF I wondered if lotus has made any mods to the engine. You don't hear  of them hgfing as much in the elise.

Having seen that NCAP video, I'd probably want a 1.8 engine in my metro.  That way, you're guaranteed death - rather than being left in that grey area where you're not sure if you're dead or not/rather than leaving your family an impossible decision over life support/rather than being left in a permanent vegetative state.
