It is, there is just surface rust here and there which I may or may not attend to in my ownership, it may well be coming your way if I can find a cheap floppytop for the summer.

Ok I have had my fun with this and want a floppytop or sporty car for the summer

Its history is well documented on here, please read my thread on it and everyone else's

Key points:

Its not rusty, anywhere.

There are no warning lights

Its the most relaxing and comfortable place to sit

everything important works

It looks great

it GLF

It has mot.

nothing major is broken apart from the aircon, which doesn't.

I have just put a backbox and centre flexi on it, plus new rear kenwood speakers, and polished it.

I have a mate who wants to buy it but continuing with the theme of never sell a car to a friend and wanting to keep it on here I thought I'd put it up here first.

Price is £600, no offers, I really can't be arsed with roffle logistics.

Collection Kendal, Cumbria.

Who's next up on the X300 experience?! :D

It would be good to keep it in the AS fold.

Good car this one. I drove this from Dundee to Bristol in a day without a hitch (467 miles @ 28.1mpg). Put like 800 miles or something on it in a month.

If this wasn't the strange universe of Autoshite where everything is sold so cheaply and under market value, this would be £1600 not £600.

It would, and part of me wants to advertise it elsewhere and reap the benefits but in the interest of community spirit (which has been lacking a bit recently) I would like to give someone else the chance to experience it as its an awesome car and I don't feel like I own it as such.

This is one of the best Jags I have driven. Given how many I have gone through, that should say something. I’m happy I too owned it for a bit after trying to win in by roffle many times, had to be done. It would be very pleasing to see it stay in the fold and the community keep it in good shape. As long as we stay on top of the rust, and this is literally rust free by X300 standards, it will keep going for many years. It has so many things that are good about it, engine, interior, massive service history, drives spot on. It must be the best bang for buck on the forum. Running costs are also minimal on these.

Get it bought someone!

Split_pin, is it your time for this now? You've been after this for a while and missed it everytime!

I’m going to be one of those posters that says they want it but can’t have it now. Got Imps Xj8 3.2 on the drive for nada and as much as I want an xj6, I want a kitchen more :/

Please someone buy it so I can have a turn in 6 months.

I drove this from St Neots to Tavistock in what felt like forever and it was great. Tempting to ask for it again but I'd be spending house move money. A really nice car.

David kindly gave me first refusal and all was good to go as I am indeed very keen to own this cracker.

Unfortunately when you have a democracy in your household, things get vetoed. My wife doesn't like it and my 5 year old son doesn't want me to get rid of the Audi as he wants to go in it with the top down. Guaranteed I'll not be out in it 5 minutes and he will have a big moon mouth, telling me it's too windy.

The mood in the living room is currently one of 'not impressed'.

:(

I'd be all over this if that MGF hadn't just promised to cost me loadsa money to fix.

I have serious want for this but wife says no, and she's way too pregnant to be argued with right now

I'm going to put it out there that I've been thinking about getting rid of my floppytop 205 and that an X300 is on my list of must have one day cars. And I like the colour. To be honest now wasn't the exactly the time I was thinking of, but... er... it's got me thinking.

I'd definitely have this back if I wasn't already chucking money at my floppytop car to make it functional again.

Much want. Swap for a Merc 320 CLK convertible? Mine cost me £1800 so I 'may' have over paid a bit :(

this is completely the wrong question to ask about a Jag, but how many MPG’s on a cruise?

I got 28.1mpg going from Dundee to Bristol at roughly 70mph the whole way. Probably about as good as you can get. Torque Converter Lockup is only in 4th when cruising. If not locked up, economy will suffer. Iirc lockup is around 55mph. You feel and know when lockup engages due to an older fashioned box that isn't computer controlled. I think I was getting 24-26mpg on fast a-roads when using it.

Thanks. Probably better than the Saab for my occasial blasts to Scotland then..

It did 28 MPG easily on a fast cruise from London to the East Riding when I collected it. 30 should be achievable, but I can't see the point chasing that. Although it is illogical, they like to be driven harder and reward you buy providing extra MPG. My hypothesis is that if you are too gently on the throttle automatic Jags get stuck between the gears. Hit 52 MPH and they go "clonck" and you are in torque converter lockup, better to get there quickly!

Posted

About 28 was what I got on normal motorway drive and it can sit silently at 90.

I think I got 32 out of it when the space saver was on from Gretna to Dundee at the recommended 50 60.

Took the key out the front door tonight before going to bed and looked out at the drive. Boy have I quickly grown to resent the flipping Audi, literally cannot stand the sight of it now!

I’ll take it and pay if you can keep hold for a few weeks?

Just as well I didn't see this before I bought Davehedgehog's nice sensible Puggy 405 the other day or it could have become the second XJ6 I'd bought off someone on here.

Looks an absolute bargain for £600 and I can't say I'm not still tempted.

It DOES look an absolute bargain, yes!  Tempted?  I certainly am.  If I had my licence I think there'd be a Sold stamp on this thread right now.  However I haven't, yet, and anyway I've agreed on something else, much further away.

GLWTS!

Yup, straight swap? :D

Clio is fucked again, may try to use that in some sort of bargaining argument with the wife and say that I 'need' to swap the Audi for the Jag.....
