How can I get a full v5 when I have only got the green slip?

Would a letter saying bought it and only have got the slip work?

I would rather not grease the palms of dvla if can be helped.

Fill in the green slip with your details, post to Swansea address on green slip ... they will then send you a V5 and fine the person who didn't send the copy back to them

If its made the to the specifications set out by your engine manufacturer, then no it won't explode.

Will it be as good as high-tech, big brand oil?

Probably not.

Are you likely to notice the difference?

Unless you are competing in the RAC rally, probably not.

This is the kind of reasonable, good advice that you hardly ever see on the internet.

I once went on a BMW forum when I had an E36 and there were pages and pages of idiots arguing about Royal Purple Bellend brand being better than Mobile 1.

Form V62 I think. Free if you've never had a V5 for the vehicle in your name or not received it but have the new keeper part.

My windscreen looks like I'e had Vanessa Feltz in stilettos dancing on it, it's covered in small marks and a bit of wiper rash from a previous owner, have any fellow shiters used one of the glass polishing kits on a car windscreen with any sucess?

The headlamps on the 75 really are good. Bad thing is it make the ones on the Shuma seem really poor. Anything i can do to improve them?

Halogen bulbs can deteriorate quite a lot before they fail. Compare a sparkly new one with an old one and the old capsule will look quite cloudy, which of course dims the light a fair bit.

Another vote for nightbreakers here.

They're the sort of thing that once you fit them to one car, then you'll fit them to all your cars.

Much brighter.

Save your money and just buy a small packet of Jewellers rouge powder about £2 posted off ebay. Works a treat I last used it to remove deep windscreen wiper scratches. Sometimes the old stuff is the best.

My work is looking at getting a 4.5T van because Transits don't have the payload we need. Would a CPC and/or tachograph be required?

I think you'll need a tacho for >3.5t and travelling more than 100km from your employer's base, aye.

Might be the switch pack.

Honda D16-engined Rovers are quite thirsty, my manual 416SLi barely scraped the 30MPG mark.

Ahhh ok. I do a hell of a lot of running round town. Parkers quote 36mpg,they also say vectra auto I had does 30 which I didn't get either!

A mate got some of the oil, wrong grade for his car but sick of buying 5w30 when it's pissing out all the time.

Parkers usually post a sensible real world MPG figure, it's 38MPG for my V70 TDI automatic, which is about right for a mix of commuting and bumming about town.

I don't think you're going to find a particularly fuel efficient automatic at shiter prices unfortunately, but there's more to the costs of running a car than fuel, my car does a cost equivalent 100-150MPG but it's rare that I'm not spending money on it.

The Rover should be totally reliable if it's been looked after. You could buy a fuel efficient automatic supermini or common rail diesel that ends up costing you loads in repairs, it's a gamble either way.

Up to 80MPG and automatic! But

awful.

No to sealant on sumps, it tends to squeeze out like jam from a butty to bob about in the oil looking for something to block up.

I'd use some of the loctite copper silicone, it's good for jobs like this. Don't go mad with it though otherwise it will go all over the shop.

My friend is keen to buy a 1999 Merc C250 TD, anything to look out for? It has a long MoT so it might not be too rusty, in theory...

Fitting idle control valve on focus tomorrow. Does it need a gasket? It didn't come with one but some people online say it needs one.
