Is there a thread for spotting members of this forum? I spotted a red P reg BMW having tyres pumped up at the Esso station Glyne Gap, I only saw it as I was inside paying and when I came out it was gone. I just wondered if it was Vince70.

Unhelpful answer of the day: I think Hiscox will do this but I suspect you'll also need to buy one of their reasonably* priced home insurance policies.

We tried all sorts to get my daughter a third party extension when she was under 25. It's close to impossible, and hugely expensive if you do find one.

 

She spent 7 years only driving the same 1.0 polo. Now she's over 25 every policy includes it as standard.

Should be able to - I can fit a bike in my 3-door and while it is a commercial, its no different length-ways to a normal one with the seats down.

Worst case, pop the front wheel off the bike, it should then fit in with the seats up.

Four adults , two mountain bikes and a bmx in a chevette hatch ! The bikes were pretty much in kit form tho .

I took a fairly large framed touring bike and camping gear to and from France in a Corvette C4, not the largest hatchback known to man. Wheels, mudguards, rack and pedals off.

I've just bought my old Perodua back.  It's had all the weldage done, but the alternator now isn't charging the battery and I almost ran out of electricity on the 12-mile drive home last night.

 

It's never given any problems with the charging before.  I've checked all the fuses and for any loose wires, I've even run a jump lead directly from the alternator terminal to the battery to eliminate dodgy wiring as a possiblity - nowt.  The weird thing is though the battery light goes out as soon as the engine starts - but a multimeter confirms the battery voltage as 12.43v, rising to 12.55 at high revs - but 12.81 with the engine off.

 

Two questions:  1. is there anything else other than a fecked alternator which could be causing the lack of charging on a vehicle as simple as a Kenari?  And 2. if the alternator is fecked, how come the battery light isn't staying on?

A duff battery light can stop the alternator working.

The battery light comes on when the ignition is switched on though.  It goes out when the engine is started, as you'd expect it to if everything were working correctly...

Try running a jump lead from battery negative to the body of the alternator too.
