A step-through Pashley Mailstar / Pronto or an older diamond frame one?

(Don't have any, just curious)

Any really

Would be nice to have an older diamond frame one, but I'd be quite happy with a Pashley Mailstar.

Couple on eBay/Bumtree but all are miles and miles and miles away.

Okay then - the Digital Boot Sale thread has been moved onto the general sales thread, so hopefully folk will still be able to find it.

Terms are as before: I'm not looking to make my fortune here, just cover postage costs. If you see anything you fancy, reply with the desired item in a quote, and I'll then strikethrough the item and hold it over for you. When you've got all you want, PM me and I'll weigh your selection to find the best value postage, and advise you of this along with my PayPal details. Fair enough?

To save you hoking back through the general thread to see what's gone and what's not, here's a rundown of the brochures still available as of noon on 2 December:

  • Chrysler: Voyager (1996)
  • Daihatsu: Sportrak (c.1995)
  • Ford: Fiesta Classic (1996); Mondeo Launch (1993); Galaxy (1995) x2; Maverick (1995)
  • Peugeot: 405 Estate (1989); 406 (c.1996); Range & options pricelist (1996)
  • Renault: Clio poster (c.1991); R21 Savanna (1990); R21 (1992); R21 Diesel (1992); Espace Turbo Diesel (1992)
  • Rover: New 400 (1995)
  • Skoda: Felicia (1996) - including loads of promo flyers, options pricelist, manufacturer history booklet etc etc
  • Toyota: Carina E Estate (c.1995) **TAKEN**
  • Vauxhall: Corsa B (1994); Cavalier (1993)
  • Volkswagen: B3 Passat L (1990); B4 Passat Estate (1996)
  • Volvo: S40/V40 (1996); Range & options pricelist (1996)

ADW1977, Ghosty, Pillock, Zelandeth and Egg - I have all your preferred items set to one side.

I'll be adding magazines and other publications this afternoon, so do sing out if you see anything you fancy.

The next stop for any unclaimed by the end of next week will probably be the recycling bin, as Mrs DC has put me on an ultimatum to have the dining room cleared for Christmas and the attic's already full... (and that's not one of those "full asking price or I scrap it" emotional blackmail threats - just to avoid confusion in case someone reads this in a fortnight's time).

Cheers!

First off, a straggler from yesterday - one that was hiding in amongst the copies of Auto Trader.

Toyota Carina E Estate - c.1995

4-page foldover, oversize 24x30cm

I'm guessing this is from 1995 or so as most of the others in this pile date from around then, and I think they were on the way out by '96.

First off, here's a copy of Auto Trader for Thames Valley, from 5-11 August 1993. 344 pages.

post-17915-0-57974500-1512215318_thumb.jpg

My dad must have picked this one up at motorway services on the return leg from Weymouth that summer.

With a full 17 pages of Bargain Buys, it's so chock full of hardcore, red-hot uncensored rammel that I'm going to have to insist on seeing photo ID before sending it on to anyone, to prevent the corruption of minors.

There's also six copies of Auto Trader for Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland dating from May and June 1995.

post-17915-0-47442500-1512215990_thumb.jpg

These were published just after Auto Trader branched out across the Irish Sea, so there wasn't yet much in the way of page count - about 68 pages per issue. Some very interesting cars and commercials though, which would surely be top spots for many of us today.

Eighties Toyota Hilux bodyshell wanted.

A friend left his rolling chassis with me many years ago, to get it up and running, I've finally got around to having a look, front crossmember has fractured leaving the steering idler to wobble around, battery will be toast, electrics want a once over but the major problem is there's no body. Does anyone know where something might be sourced?

AEjmGeI.jpg

Definite MOT fail that.

Had a look on ebay, prices seem a little surreal, I'm going to suggest to matey that he might be better to scrap it, WIL BRK 4 PARTS,IDEEL 4 AFRIKA EXPERT U R BDN ON UR WHEELNUT BUD! Could fetch enough to buy a real one, not a good one, but a real one.

Spending over a ton for a tatty secondhand shell isn't going to happen on my watch, It's 1/10 scale apparently, I'm thinking a Tonka Toy body, give the fucker some Ncap rating, or with some old biscuit tins and pop rivets I could knock up a Landrover body.

A few years later, and the Northern and Southern Irish Auto Trader areas have parted ways [insert political metaphor of choice here]. These date from August and September 1997, when I was actively looking for a better vehicle than my £80 Cortina (verdict: I was ripped off).

post-17915-0-49903400-1512216822_thumb.jpg

Seem to be doing better with attracting ads though, as there's a meatier 188 pages or so, just for NI.

I'm not even sure if it's still going in NI as a print publication anymore - though my latest acquisition did come off the website, so some folk must be paying to use it rather than Bumtree/Faceache, anyway.

The mention of the Fiat Cinquecento as the first car to be offered in both petrol and all-electric versions caught my eye, as that's definitely news to me. I know Ford ran a fleet of experimental electric Escort vans around this time, but I don't believe they were offered for sale to the general public - though an all-electric Fiesta Mk3 did emerge some time later,. Never seen a Cinq Elettra, though!

Also a snippet detailing the 'shock' at Beaulieu autojumble auction as a 'crock' with an estimate of £300-600 sold for £2800. Said crock being a VDP body previously fitted to a Talbot Lago chassis, and with rally pedigree... interesting that unique items like these were still valued at barely over scrap until recently, even in classic circles.

Usual sales and auction roundup, plus an interesting interview with Roy Haynes (Marina/Mk2 Cortina designer) on his vision for a 'world car' (spoiler: makes the Africar look like it was built by Tesla); also a science bod trying to make his voice heard about how nitrogen dioxide emissions from modern diesels is a far bigger risk to health and the environment than older petrol cars... noteworthy from the point of view of all the "we never knew" claims currently coming from central government.

15” Renault 4x100 alloys, to fit 07 Clio III, I assume any Renault alloys would do, but must be 15” as have brand new tyres on existing 15” alloys which would be swapped over. Current ones are 1x leaking/buckled and 1x MIA.

Also anyone have any parts for a mk5 Golf/Jetta lying around, have a load of broken/missing/damaged exterior and interior trims bits on mine I’d like to replace to satisfy my OCD but the stuff on eBay is no better condition and new prices are crazy!

I have a Pashley Pronto in my shed as a matter of fact, I bought it off Aston Martin at Shitefest.

It’s a bit kippered though, it needs a chain, the brakes need freeing off, and the gear selector cables and bits are all missing. Also the powder coating has cracked and fallen off in places, and let the frame rust.

Kind of a shame I’ve not done anything with it really. I was going to use it for work but that’s actually a terrible idea considering I get the train in.
