I wouldn't take any advice from Keith Moon mind, he put a Silver Shadow in a swimming pool and choked on his own vomit.

Does that mean the potential of an invacar at the next twixfest?

So long as it doesn't clash with FistFest, apparently.

I shall be sure to check in with the fisting enthusiasts of the forum in advance of setting a date.

I do not like football. However, I got suggested this vid. Thought there must be a blue vehicle there somewhere.

The whole vid, if you like football.

https://youtu.be/cB8Csr1W29I?si=T-p0IS56USuXtLHN

The bit where you can see a Invacar and a red "friend". No reg numbers, as far as I can see.

very interesting! that Burgundy coloured Tippen Delta

image.png.f561b04c3330ad8f8b986a18657dd343.png

looks like its the same one I found here and have long since wondered Just WTF is it! I was never quite sure if it was a Tippen Delta or a Harper, but I can see now from the alternative view given from the video you found that it is no doubt a Tippen Delta, a Private one at that as well :)

I wonder what the reddish brown invalid carriage is here? im thinking some sort of Harper but im not 100% sure...

on the note of football, I wonder when was the last football match featuring invacars on the pitch side? :)

(or when did they stop allowing people with invacars onto the pitch, if you where still using one in 2003, could you still drive onto the pitch?)

also finally got a chance to discuss this picture with stuart, have posted it here wondering what the brown invalid vehicle is

image.thumb.png.2933de7a209a543e28912fa92bc66388.png

and now we are both wondering! my best guess currently is a Tippen Delta, but it would be interesting to see if anyone here has any other ideas! @busmansholiday ya seemed to know a bit about the match you wouldn't happen to know if there are other photos/video of the same match? hopefully one without a pesky footballer standing in the way of the lineup of carriages?

so thank you for sharing that! it solves a long standing mystery for me :)

Is £2700 absurdly expensive for one of these?  I very much hope so.  Especially in that condition.

sadly not these days, thats about the going rate for one in that sort of condition, if others that have sold are to go by (which is one of the primary reasons why I got REV when I did since I could see the ship sailing right before my eyes and I was not going to let it get away from me, I knew it was get a Model 70 then or never so to speak)

that being said this one the the mysterious Orange NHS101 Model 70, supposedly sold at auction today(?) for £680, but the impression im getting from everyone commenting on it, that the Auction was a farce, no one realised it was actually being auctioned and the website was broken/buggy

It's remarkable how much better that looks in a decent solid colour.  Well, decent-ish.  It rather looks like tomato soup, but still better than the completely-invisible-against-a-greyish-sky colour they came in.

I have the winning bid and I plan to cross the channel in it.

I hope you plan to begin the journey with a Dukes of Hazard style jump off the white cliffs of Dover?

If so I'll provide a Confederate flag for the roof FOC.

I've not commented here before iirc. But have genuinely got tears running after my initial WTAF of the last several pages....

Many thanks to both genuine and antagonistic (and drunk) posters.

Autoshite hasn't made me genuinely laugh this much in a long time.

Dez - you do you, I do think that many here have your safety as main concern to be fair...

Your obsession is fair enough and we all have them or we wouldn't be here BUT many of the informative and genuine posts from far more knowledgeable fellas than I or you are being blanked like a stroppy teen (not saying you're one of them)  holding their hands over their ears and shouting LA LA LA......

Genuine long term and long distance users hated the things and felt unsafe. They failed basic checks/tests even back in 'the day'. I didn't know all this but reading the info offered even I (a known moron) am thinking fucking hell that's dodgy....

All power to you for wanting this, but I also have noticed the utter horror show that has been getting this thing roadworthy in any way shape or form.... It has taken dedicated efforts from forum members and being hauled the length of the country to get it (almost) sorted.....  Doesn't that bode ill for any regular use? Even our old shitters leave us stranded and we have a far better support in place.

Not to compound misery - but as said, your learning hours behind the wheel and now years off the road are not a good omen for avoiding a statistically proven chance of 1st year crash..... and in London you wouldn't be punted down the road as in your gif. You'd be hammered into the 2ton modern that's right behind you. That chassis you pictured would go under and the body would be sliced off - bus low bridge stylee....

It is your choice, so do go for it if it's the be all and end all.... But don't just take genuine knowledge and concern as belittling.

I'm settling in the terrible idea camp, suggesting (like others) that you get some miles under your belt in a modern so you have more hands on experience first dude.

From a neutral viewpoint reading the thread, you have a lot of regulars in the advice corner, a shedload on the leave him to it but we're biting our lips, corner - and what can only be described as a  full on keyboard warrior in the go for it corner That should tell you at least something!

Best of luck n all that, seriously.

the reason I hang up on that, is because of comments like yours, that seem to ignore the fact the Model 70 was Crash tested back in the day, and data from the crash tests was used to improve the crash safety of the vehicle throughout production, in the end the Model 70 was compliant with the ECE crash test regulations at the time, I am *not* trying to say that a Model 70 would be considered crash worthy today, but to claim it was utter dire even by the standards of its time, is doing it an unfair disservice

and ditto your comment about "the handling prowess of a wayward shopping trolley"

invacar-handling-cornering.gif.de9d943061aa89d603e49e98b04bd729.gif

freegifmaker.me_2eGbw.gif

yes they will pitch and roll as a 3 wheeler does, but they can get a hustle on! I highly recommend watching this video where the first ex-ministry owner of MHJ22P chucks it about with quite some vigor!

I have to make a point.

Dez, if you aren't going to listen to anyone suggesting the Invacar is a bad idea as a whole, at least take this advice into consideration.

If you're going over traffic jam speed, please do not base your expectation of how REV will perform on these GIFs and videos. They were done by experienced instructor, and not someone with only few thousand miles of experience and no understanding of how vehicle weight transfer actually feel and what action is required.

I'm not saying you will drive like those careless youth, but even if you're a careful, considerate driver, an evasive action is something that will be needed when you least expected it. The skill of not steering too much by instinct and to stick to within vehicle cornering limit threshold is something sometimes even people with decades of experience don't get properly. You get none of it with the lessons from driving school. It's hard to learn in a four wheeler, let alone a three wheeler.

If you already believe that these car will not tip over, it is extremely dangerous because you are NOT expecting it. Please please please get this idea out of your head immediately. It would be a good start.

Take care.

That slalom gif , that gives the impression of good road holding .. They are skilled drivers . They're releasing the steering lock  just before the point of tipping over  ..The emergency stop video, i don't think thats good at all  either . Why on earth didn't they didn't put the single wheel at the rear though ? It would have been so much more stable , and with 2 contact patches , better braking , steering and road holding .
