Nicest ever wheels??

I like minites, but they really don’t suit a lot of the vehicles they’re fitted to. They certainly suit 60s cars more so than later. The look nice 10” on a classic mini, but the Clubman needs a different treatment - 4 spoke revolutions is my personal favourite for the flat front mini.

yes the original Mini Sprite in yellow was particularly well thought out, those wheels are also pretty nice and suit the black bumper minis well.

Oh, you’re definitely on the money there. Starfish on later ones, without a doubt. Apols for missing earlier shout for Kents which I think also set off an xjc quite nicely.

I know they’re hubcaps but back in the day I thought these trims were the fucking bomb. I had several of them in a shed when I’d upgraded to alloys, all of them in perfect nick then chucked the lot in the skip about 10 years ago thinking they’d never be any use to anyone!

I even  bought a brand new set in 1990 from MWS in Coventry, £200 for a set of 4 , they had a warehouse full of em,most probably went for scrap eventually.

Saab I think are up there for the nicest looking wheel trim award.  Loved the look of these, especially on a dark car.

Being stainless steel all they asked for was a quick skim over with some Brasso and a good wax once a year or so.  It's a car where I'd honestly rather just have steel wheels with those trims on rather than bothering with alloys.

Though I am also particularly partial to the Starfish alloys from Jag in the 80s.

The dish on the fronts doesn't half collect brake dust though, but at least they're easy to clean - unlike a lot of designs from this era.

Alfa style teledial wheels are lovely. Lots of old cars had fantastic hubcaps. Volvo 240s in particular had brilliant chrome hub caps. I like that sort of thing on a classic. Saab three spoke ally wheels also lovely. Turbine-style alloy wheel is one of my favourites. The Jaaag XJ 220 had brilliant wheels. X300 XJR wheels also brilliant, much the same sort of look.

Some wheels definitely are look good on one particular car and naff on others.

I know these were fitted to many 70's fords - I think they're either Ghia or Sport alloys - but look best IMO on the Mk 2 Capri. Mk 3 they're ok, but look wrong on other cars. A great period design. (The 4-spoke RS really suited the Mk2 Escort)

Spiderwebs look fantastic on the Mk1 Granada but awful on the Mk2. I think they'd suit a 70's Lambo or maserati as well as the handsome big ford.
Only other vehicle I've seen these on is a bay-window T2, and they looked absolutely shite on that. Again an opinion. One of my favourite wheel designs of the 70's. 
The 4-stud version of these don't look anywhere near as nice.

I've seen a Scimitar fitted with Minilites. No. Just no.

I always thought of those as Mk 2 Capri Ghia wheels , but as you say a lot of Mk2 and 3 S’s had them , including those driven by CI5’s finest as the Laser RS 4 spoke lookalikes didn’t get fitted to the S until after The Proffesionals.

They used to look great on Escort Ghias in the brochures, but I never remember seeing one on the road so fitted.

Earlier 3.0 GT Consuls and optionally on other models , you would have got the same wheel with chrome wheel nuts and stainless centre caps, although never a trim ring.

Mark 2s got a silver painted plastic centre cap that was shaped around the silver plastic covered nuts.

My favourite was the special edition Consort that got colour coded versions

Although not with that trim ring as standard.
