Just packing for a 2 day not collection. In fact it's a delivery .

I have my passport, sun cream, some cassettes and a return air ticket.

The first leg from Milton Keynes to Folkestone commences at 06.00 tomorrow.

Pictures and clues as to the car will begin then.

And here are the shorts and shirt I'll be wearing, they seem sort of in keeping with the car- in my head, anyway

I just caught up on Saabnut's Bentley thread, so I think I know what you're delivering. If so, mega jealous, always wanted one.

Tunnel achieved, oil pressure scary, but TADTS. Half a tank for 130 miles.

Didn't even know there was a 1st class on tunnel- lots of free breakfast and a luxury poo( 1).

I kerbed the shit out of my 19 inch alloy whilst boarding the tunnel train last summer in my Merc CLS. Whoever thought it was a good idea to fix metal trims to the edge of the raised walkway is a complete dick.

Do they make cars in Hawaii?

If they did, the top speed would only be about five-o.

You know when people buy convertibles and think they look the dog's bollocks? Well absolutely no other one quite cuts it like a Corniche imho, it's the epitome of cool.

We're off, this is the backup car and yes those are my shorts. IMG_3890.JPG

Spot the tarted up VAG parts bin parts! That dash looks awfully similar to a Golf dash but with more chrome bling and a nicer font.

Audi A4 steering wheel for comparison.

Arrow is pointing to the heated wheel button but most of the insignia is the same. The Bentley gains more plastic at the bottom and aluminium/plastic coated wheels. A4 dash looks more advanced with its full digital display though.

FTFY. ;)

That Bentley is beautiful absolutely love it!!!

I wouldn't exactly say it was beautiful, but I could see it being useful for carting the polo ponies about.

just got back, cars safely tucked up in the underground garage at the villa.post-17414-0-52969100-1531787816_thumb.jpg

The eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted how wet the floor is, more details to follow tomorrow.

^^^ Lovely! I thought the shiny floor was just the finish to it until you mentioned it was wet, then I looked more closely...

A long time ago I did some work at Berkeley Square House in Mayfair. Part of this concerned the Jack Barclay dealership, full of lovely Rolls Royce & Bentley motor cars at ground floor level and below in the basement. There was (& probably still is) a turntable lift in the floor to take vehicles up and down and point them in all directions below. I could only just squeeze between cars downstairs - no more than a handspan of gap among any pair of them. I was carrying a set of stepladders around them at the time, which was quite scary, but none got scratched. The basement looked just like your photo though, except stuffed with a greater number of fine motor cars.

The Bentley Bentayga rear lights appear to be a mirrored pair of Bentley 'Flying B' mascots! Cool! :-)

A turntable would have been useful when I was trying to turn the Corniche around, with all the windows completely steamed up because the aircon fan decided to go awol just as the Cote d'azure had its biggest thunder storm in 20 years. I'm not sure how many scooter pilotes I wiped out in Nice , because I couldn't see them. Luckily they had the good grace not to scratch the paintwork.

Might have gassed the villa staff though as their quarters were underground next to the garage and the door was open...post-17414-0-81655900-1531906876_thumb.jpeg

Oh, did I mention the wiper fuse blew as well!?

Apparentlly it's the first time it's been out in the rain since at least 2008, not surprising it didn't like it.

Here is my giant head driving towards a massive storm , proving Cavcrafts theory.

This is the romantic idea we all have a of French road trips.

Don't know what's happening with the light, but the hood is up because of just having driven through a massive storm.

The reality of trying to find food in France on a Sunday evening, possibly made worse by them having just won the World Cup.

French idiots are pretty similar to English ones, whilst waiting for our kebabs(!!) we saw retards at this bar jump on two passing Peugeots, needless to say we went out of town the other way- even though it was a one way system.

Which was good because we found this:post-17414-0-60641300-1532200983_thumb.jpegpost-17414-0-59307800-1532201002_thumb.jpeg which would have been the perfect Autoshite Hotel. Pity the savages had bulldozed the R6 , the Nevada, C15, 505 and the Miriafori looked savable.

Our hotel wasn't quite as interesting

The Corniche has had a FTP. It was getting warm in traffic on the way down .

This happened on the way back on Monday as my brother was taking a leisurely tour back with his wife. post-17414-0-35880500-1533141576_thumb.jpeg

Waterpump.

post-17414-0-14784800-1533141644_thumb.jpeg

Le Flics had it towed here, where nothing happened at all for a whole day- because French.

A specialist was found in Roanne, a local car transport guy was found and off it goes- Transport man is from Trimsaron near Llanelli , where FathaN lived in the 90's- his cousin is married to our ex-stepmother !!

post-17414-0-33535900-1533142001_thumb.jpeg

Best bit is the courtesy car he was give n - if Autoshite did courtesy cars etc etc.

Anyway , the owner called me from Italy( he's driving back in the Bentayga, himself)

To see if I'd be free to take a waterpump down from Hillier Hill in Olney along with some tools so that my brother and I can do it ourselves as French specialist is being all French and talkin about next week.

Best bit is he said if it's a go , just go to the house and use one of his cars, if I need to, I'm insured on all of them- Now, DB11, Golf R . Or my Passat... Mmmm

Posted

I think ECP have just started using DB11s as parts delivery vehicles so it seems the best tool for the job.
