What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

The Rover is either lying or using far less fuel than expected.  I've decided to keep track of it on Fuelly because I really need to know what exactly it's returning.  I know I'm putting less litres in than I was with the Xantia for the same miles but I also know I'm doing less motorway than I was in the Xantia.  The only difficulty is that the Rover sips fuel so frugally it's going to take ages to get enough info to get a reasonable fuel consumption estimate out of it.

Finally had my ticket from traffic warden cancelled. My evidence was enough to proove the car was undriveable but they cancelled it as a "gesture of goodwill" anyway.

Visited, pictured and flyposted a couple of Rover 800s and met an elderly owner of one of them, her husband used to work at Rover. He still drives it despite being in his 80s. They saw a identically coloured 800 in Stourport who I suspect were the same people who saw my 2 Mk2s being transported to thier new home a few weeks back. Apparently when they saw the elderly couples 800 the chap wanted to buy it.

Gave up a parking space for someone who lives a few streets away, I know how difficult parking can be around there and getting about can be difficult for her I decided the lady deserved it more than I did. My car was only moved around the corner anyway.

Oh yeah, that reminds me. I've actually been able to drive to places in a car for the first time in what seems likes ages.

My elderly neighbour had a flat battery today, swung the ole Fozzer round and jump leaded it back to life, and Henry insisted I had a bacon n egg sammie for my efforts. Sat on the garden wall and drank tea n scoffed sammie whilst he reminisced about his old rides, Austin Healeys, Bullnose Morris's , Bedford TK army trucks.... Love listening to a persons life and stuff they had and did. And the fact he always thought I was a twat when I was a kid :-D, which I had to agree with him on

Just happened to be passing the Leeds cruise at 6pm last night after dropping my daughter at uni, first time this year I've managed to make it and had an enjoyable hour browsing the chod.

I was in my 2300s and got talking to a nice guy with a VX 4/90 parked near me when a viva estate went past, in 1 view were 3 old Vauxhalls it was heaven.

My gaffer ingnores the fuel gauge on the 416 tourers and goes off the odo, his bollocks are bigger than mine 'cos he runs 450 miles to a tank but I normally shit out at about 350.

The last time I filled up was before setting off for Cholmondeley, the odo is over 650 now.

Our dog has an uncanny knack of managing to crap on the ends of peoples drives, 99% of the time while they're in the garden or looking out of the window. Today he excelled himself, by crapping onto the o/s/r wheel of a Hyundai coupe parked on the verge, as the owners were coming out of the house. Thank God it wasn't one of his Ex-Lax specials.

That's pretty impressive, it costs my employers about £500 every time I go to Shetland.

You're lucky, not many companies will let you put hookers on expenses anymore.

That's what the "Misc" box on the expenses form is for.

I was going to say I don't think they have hookers but there are literally thousands of people working away there (IIRC there are three floating hotels, a huge new accommodation block as well as all the existing hotels and B&Bs) so I suppose there must be some.

I can just imagine the look of horror on their face when they think Barbara Cartland is taking a dump on their drive/motor, i wonder if the sport has done the Barbara Cartland shat on my Hyundai story yet?

Getting a message from Cobblers last night saying I'd finally managed to output a valid STL file he can read made me grin :D

It'll make me grin even more shortly because it means I can build this:

I was coming out of a junction and saw an old bloke driving a 2004 Astra, but it was in one of those Chromaflair special editions. Complete with chrome boot strip, it looked stupid and yet was kinda cool at the same time.

Being on a 2004 plate, it must have been a run-out model.

Off to the local country show in a bit, time to stock up on jam and chutney again!

I discovered that the video for Devil Gate Drive works quite well with the audio of Bohemian Rhapsody, much better than its own video does. By chance I started at 3:03 so they ended together, but I don't suppose it makes a lot of difference.

Pleasant afternoon cleaning the interior of my stag. After 21 years of ownership don't think I have ever done the seats. Not sure I have cleaned inside it more than a dozen times

Found that leather cleaner is most effective at cleaning 41 year old vinyl but also makes my pinkies smell like an old Jaaaag

This batch will make ten done - how many do you need in total? I'm coming to Rotherham next weekend so I can drop them over.

My son used have an Airedale terrier who liked to shit on or in anything, not for him the blank canvas. Particular highlights were the local newsagents doorway, the kissing gate at the local woods and his finest hour, on top of a childs sandcastle on the beach as the childs family looked on. :-D

1 of radio 1's comedy "stooges" remarked last week about Bohemian Rhapsody being " a bit of a mess"

His twitter account got quite a pasting before he could retract his comment.lol

Had a towbar fitted on the 75. Took the van out for the first time in months, to check tyre pressure etc. Always towed it with a 4x4 before. Stuck on my ipod as the 75 has a posh sony thingy. Listening to money for nothing, towing a mildly snaking van on the motoway brought back memories of when i was young. An old van behind a 1800 Sierra. God i want my 4x4 back.

I was sitting here before thinking how shit YouTube is, as it seems to freeze/slow things down, then I randomly remembered all the sort of stuff I used to listen to back in the day. It's snowballed and after listening to loads of stuff, I'm now half way through The Exploited's 'Let's Start a War' album.

Youtoob is great for music, like having a free unlimited jukebox in your living room.

Whenever our lass gets pissed out with her mates she comes home and bangs a load of mega naff songs on the stereo off youtube via the chromecast I got her for her birthday last year, then dances about the front room with the dogs while I'm laid in bed trying to kip.

It's fairly impressive that someone pissed enough to dance around with a pair of whippets is easily able to access pretty much any song available, the best bit is I can also add songs to the playlist from my phone while laid in bed, and she doesn't yet know this. I usually stick something mega offensive in just to see how long it takes her to notice and change it.

Generally it's

But when I really need some sleep I put

in the playlist about 8 times over.

LOL' d my tits off at the thought of your pissed up missus dancing with dogs while you fuck about with the controls, brilliant!

You should add this into the mix

I can hijack the TV from anywhere in the house with my phone, not by doing anything clever either, it's a standard feature. Normally I play this because it unsettles SWMBO. 10 hours of silence is a good shout though, I'll try that next time.
