The fella in the garage over from mine has one on the road, it's HUGE.20503890138_6819f30a19_b.jpg

I love the mkX/420G Jags, gorgeous cars. I just hope that one doesn't follow the destroyed A60 behind it.

I very nearly bought an early 3.8 version a few years ago, it was immaculate in dark metallic grey with red leather. I had the cash and was on the cusp of getting it but a house move screwed that. Easily one of my biggest regrets was not buying it. One day I will have one though.

I had my MK10 for 8 years. FJU 99C, 4.2. I loved that car and it got used a lot. It was my only car and did about ten thousand miles a year. I bought new doors for it when Unipart were clearing their stock - £25 per door! It had new sills and was re-sprayed in its original Sherwood green and other than a bit of rot in the bottoms of the old doors it wasn't rusty.

I was a complete fucking cretin though and didn't look after it properly at all. Oh yes, I used to wash it and polish and hoover it out and all that good stuff but oil changes? Never! Finally the gearbox lost first gear so I drove it for another year or two in 'D2' then sold it to my StepDad for £500. He parked it in a field and as far as I know, that's where it stayed.

Enjoying the old concept cars site. Interesting to see how so many of the odd little features of these made it into production in one way or another. I sort of knew about the Leganza being a Jag cast off, however I never knew the Matiz was a Fiat reject though:

My sister brought me back some plop, kex and picnic bog from Sweden. All very nice but she also brought me a bottle of schnapps. I've no fucking idea what's in it but it's delicious. 38% too and on  School night. You can see my new tablet top left.

I've seen the cars he races, they are complete rust buckets that will never see the road again.

My mate at work kept banging on about great his fancy silver coloured pen was, to the point of massive annoyance. On Monday, I removed it from his pocket, placed it just in front of the drive wheels of a 44 tonne truck and got the driver to proceed in a forwardly direction. No more fancy silver coloured pen.

I had similar with a loud mouthed compardre who worshiped his Blessed ''I am a god'' Mug - I sliced the mug in half with a thin diamond cutter then glued it back together with copydex, the resulting morning coffee routine ending in said coffee mug parting with itself onto said mans lap. He was nay best pleased and was venting like a F1 Car on full brakes

Ford Puma official fuel consumption is 38mpg.

My last tank full returned just shy of 44mpg and I'm not driving to save fuel.

Makes me wonder what the official figure would be if the test was run now.

is that the 1.7? I used to get low/mid 30s out of mine so that's pretty good going

Shit!!!...since when were we supposed to have a reason?

Posted

Oh, I have a reason! Just not a rational easy to explain one.

Hang on, a bloke called Scaryoldcortina who makes mandolins out of elves coffins is worried about rational logic?

Well, when you put it like that... :D

I'm not worried, I'm surprised at how fast we got from my son wanting to buy snacks in bulk once a month to save postage (don't ask..) to buying a vending machine to put them in. I'm also surprised at how not bothered mrs S is about the whole idea.

Tax return completed >2 months prior to the deadline and surprisingly easy too. I had visions of 10,000 pages needing completing in triplicate but seem to get away with about a dozen pages, most of which require me to write '0' in a succession of boxes.

Added bonus, if moneysavingexpert is to be believed (he isnt) then I could have overpaid PAYE tax to the tune of ONE HUNDRED AND NINETEEN POUNDS. Incoming Reb8 M8.

I'm sure it will get more complicated once my side project company gets going and I start getting money out instead of pouring money in, but for now it's nice and easy.

SWMBO has fixed the dyson vacuum hover thing.

as suspected the drive belt had snapped, £2.50 bought a new one from down town and about 10 minutes fighting the machine to fit it.

i wonder how many machines get condemned with daft failures like that?

Fucking shit loads, it's great! Either that, snapped cable or clogged cyclone/airways

You did get away lightly though because its a non clutched machine, just one simple belt!

Now, strip and wash the cyclone of your dyson hoover thing, and buy it new cheap filters. Whats the DC number?

Posted

actually i think its a DC07, maybe?

it really could do with a wash/service, so something else to do this weekend!

there is a clutch in the machine, though SWMBO says that the thicker clutch belt is ok, as is the thing it runs on and its just the smaller drive belt thats broke, though she also says that the brush bar that wasn't working is now running all the time?

i think some more investigations will be needed.

Saab is fixed.

Courtesy of the lovely 2smoke of this parish, the shouting has stopped.

No horn on locking, or unlocking.

No BONG BONG BONG BONG seatbelt warning.

No autolock on the boot.

It's wonderful.

Although the curry delivery lady might think i'm a bit odd. We were camping in a difficult to access place so I went and waited for her next to the car. And there I was going, lock, "ooooooo thats nice", unlock, "giggle", lock, unlock, "ahhhhh" lock, "awesome" when I became aware of someone standing in the dark, watching me, clutching a bag of curry.

I don't know how long she had been there, but she seemed keen to leave.

2smoke sir - I thank you very much. The irritations have gone.

More investigation does sound needed, the brushroll should be off when the clutch is in the off position or the machine is upright
