What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Those interested should refer to my corresponding post in the grump thread for the ying to this posts yang.

Went to the beach last weekend - proper good time. It was really nice to get away from work and all that shite for a few days. It was one of the touristy seaside towns but its still off-season here so pretty quiet. We booked a hotel that was right on the seafront...literally stepped out the front door, crossed the road, hopped a wee wall and landed in the sand.

Good company, hot weather, nice food, boobies on the beach....heaven.

I am not one for suntanning - I have body hair to rival Chewbacca and nobody wants to see a fat wookie lying on the sand, so I kept under the parasol and watched the boobies world go past.

My nephew made me proper grin too, he was paddling about up to his knees and suddenly plunged his hands into the water and held something aloft like fucking Excalibur from the lake. Jammy wee bastard had only found a twenty Euro note on the bottom!

The wee Escort performed fine - 2.5 hours drive each way over quite a high mountain pass in 25+ degrees heat. The temp gauge sits steady in the middle and the air con blows nice and cold, although if the cabin fan is too slow it seems to freeze up the exchanger and airflow stops until its switched off for a wee while.

Managed to get an oyster grey aerosol for the audi off ebay

Oddly, there was genuine audi stuff available in Germany but it would only fit LHD cars.

After months of faffing about re a disabled bay, bloke came round on Monday and marked (two little lines) where it had to be and I got a  letter Tuesday (yesterday) saying 'all okay, will be done within the next four weeks.

Two really nice chaps turned up this morning and one bay painted on the road double quick!

Impressive.

They wouldn't take a tip either, really wouldn't even though I shoved a tenner under their noses.

Pulled in to make way for the (LDV Convoy) school bus this morning. Lady driving it was driving my kids around in a Sherpa bus 25 years ago and occasionally driving me to school in a Bedford Duple 45 years ago!

The B-road between Bridgnorth and Ludlow made me grin today.  Again.  The bloke in the 63-plate BINI Cooper was doubtless wondering why he couldn't get the 20-year-old French chod out of his mirror.

It's because you brake too much, pal.  And 59bhp IS all you need...  ;)

Amazed that this place couldn't offer a single pineapple based dish. Missing a trick there I reckon.

Just seen the utterly awesome Mad Max Fury Road. The vehicle designs are a work of twisted genius

Went to see it in 3D the other night, not having seen a 3D film since a 15 minute I-max one in Bradford over 20 years ago. Was an interesting experience but did remind me of the time I watched my old (wooden cabinet) TV through binoculars, aged about 13. Anyway, I think that the latest film holds enough similarity to the concept of Mad Max II to be classified as part of the series; far more so than Beyond Thunderdome does, which was utter piffle.

I also worked on a job featuring Tom Hardy a few years ago, so it's nice to associate our crossed paths, even if his career has advanced a little further than mine...

It definitely feels like a labour of love, not something made as a quick cash in, and it's full of practical effects and stuntwork. My only gripe, which is a very minor spoiler, is that we don't see enough of the Interceptor

There is something about the roads to Ludlow that makes people drive slowly. I was once held up in the Pride by a Porsche Boxster as the driver was too scared the take left hand bends at over 30mph.

I volunteered my afternoon to polish a mates car for him as it was looking a bit tired and he's going to a show tomorrow and camping over, he washed it before I got there, first it got clayed because it felt like braille, a bit of cutting here and there, then a lovely coat of polish

I think he may be related to cavcraft he loves vauxhalls that much, here is his family wagon that got the treatment, you can just see his nova saloon in the background

Check the reflections
