What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Having ran myself into the ground for 3 hours over lunchtime, I spent the following 7 hours watching a combination of the BTCC, the F1 and MotoGP. And I wasn't disappointed by any of it!

Not even a big fan of all the protagonists, just good racing going on.

The for the love of cars is actually a good TV program about cars on normal TV!. I was surprised they spluffed 85 grand on the restoration but it paid off in the end I guess it did look amazing...

30 grand just on the engine rebuild. Oof.

Next week an SD1 Police car!

Ah Yes the ex Grampian police car so I hear. Its a 1985 EFi, and it sat outside on a driveway in Essex for a long time, if its the one im thinking of.

Apart from running myself into the ground bit, exactly the same. Enjoyed the F1 but the MotoGP was fantastic.

I've come back to uni for a couple of days, but my Xbox is now at home, so I've no need for the battered 28" Sony Trinitron taking up half my desk.

8:30 I post it on Facebook, free for anyone with means to collect.

Instantly get a message off a mate in a halls down the road, hour and a half later he shows up with another mate in a 6N2 Polo, it's gone and he insisted on paying for it so I'm up £15!

Got as far as a V8 block with uppy-downy pistons, in a chassis. Tonight will be a back axle with what appears to be a working diff!

I'd forgotten about this, but a few months back I picked up an old chest of drawers, and recovered an entire Daily Express which had been used as lining. I found it again today. I was going to do a 'guess the year' thing, but forgot to blank out the reg plate on the Suzuki. Meh.

And if you ever find yourself bemoaning all the 'modern' sensationalist headlines, this was journalism 25 years ago:

Wow, that must have been one hell of a massive coach. I mean, the eye-witness who said that wasn't actually old enough to remember either of the Wars, but still...

Oh. I mean, I'm not making light of the awful tragedy that befell those people and their families, but I don't think there were that many WW1 battles that only killed a dozen soldiers.

Yeah, he's already been rumbled by the "fat" exhaust, may as well spill the beans.

I'm not sure, 95% of cars on RR with big exhausts have a standard engine. I say just ignore the question.

Hospital tomorrow (today now).

(Insurance scam).

Guy collected another 25 bags of soil as he said he would, offered to pay for the new sieve I've bought after wearing out the 1st one... Told him I was just glad someone off Freecycle turned up when they said they would so keep the money. Then said he'd sort me some beers for now and some veg when his missus had grown it using the soil. Felt embarrassed.

My Plaid Cymru candidate has been out campaigning. He's definitely going to win me over with shots like this.

Extra yay two job interviews on Thursday now!!!!!

This know leads to a mini dilemma. Say I was offered both (I know I can live in hope) do I take the job at the bigger company further away where the job is just initially prepping cars for painting or do I go with the smaller newer company where I will get to do more?

Both deal in classic cars

Oh and I forgot, thought I don't know how, I got to drive this yesterday, very nice

I have had a couple of grin moments today, i took mrs fp's efi cvh inlet manifold to a local fabricators that I use so it can be modified to take a cosworth throttle body and the take offs at the side removed and welded, while I was there I saw a chap I havn't seen since I did the engine on his cortina estate, after having a chat to him I sorted out what I was having done and the price which was £55, as quick as a flash the Chap pulls £20 out of his pocket and gives it to the fabricator and said no its £35 you have to pay, i told him don't be silly his reply was you looked after me and you wouldn't let me give you proper money, he was telling the fabricator how good I was to him.

I have been driving around getting bits and bobs and the admiration the saph has got from people has made me smile

Last night i took the plastic grill off the reliant, so i could remove the water from the headlamp and dry it out. The four screws were a bit rusty, so i sanded them and painted them black. I was asked but a passer by what i was doing and the reply was "whats the point". The reply was "because my standards are higher than yours". He smiled and walked on  :-D
