What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Today's morning commute was made much better by a high speed chase of a tatty Y plate Hyundai Amica through the mean streets of Bournville.

The driver was so autoshite he just didn't know it.

Last night I came across a D reg breadvan on tiny tyres pulling 70 through the corners near my house and 80 on the straight, I was impressed! Also allowed me to properly push the ZX through the corners as I deduced that if he can do it, so can I on my wider tyres.

I like to think we shared a moment, but in reality he probably didnt even notice me behind him blowing smoke out my arse to keep up!

My mate and business partner Davy took some wee lad home to his mother's house in Holywood, Co Down on Monday.

Too much stuff, and too many people for the CLS or S Class, so he used my Viano.

I think the young fella won a cup for spelling or something.

It was ace, well worth the money, already zipped up the Samba as per Samba thread. They even rebuilt my own welder and I used that for all the MIG, apart from the examination pieces I had to produce

Was it you who mentioned the were going to do a course in welding? If so what was it like?

Is he in Cavette's bathroom?

Yes, I had a gun in one hand, the V5 for a Corsa in the other. He saw the light eventually, they all do.

Mrs fordperv has told me she has sort of agreed with a woman she works with for me to have her late fathers Renault 5 which he owned from 1 year old and apparently is really good condition, the only downside is the woman is indecisive about getting rid of it, it needs an exhaust and the m.o.t has run out, apparently it has leather interior????? I Didn't even know you could get a 5 posh enough with leather lol she didn't mention a reg or year but we will see what happens, fingers crossed

well mrs fordperv has found out more of this lonely little 5, she is a g reg monaco in bronzy gold, lovingly named monica by the ladies late father and she is looking a bit unloved but i reckon a few hours with the cleaning products and polish would have her looking tip top again, i bet you'd all love to see the sneaky picture she sent mrs fordperv wouldn't you.....................

her cat photo bombed the picture

mrs fordperv has pretty much sorted to for me to see her on saturday to assess what she needs to return to the road, any tips on places to look for problems on a 5?

Imagine my disappointment when I read...

'Mrs fordperv has told me she has sort of agreed with a woman she works with for me to have her'

...and it wasn't what I thought.

5 Monacos are great. Watch for rust around the screen. It will be well worth doing if not suffering from terminal rot or major mechanical problems. It might well be an auto, although manuals also available.

Monaco was a late 80's Renault luxury spec which was sold as a special edition over here - UK got 21 and 25 versions as well as the 5, although the 5 was the most popular. Then in the 1990s came 'Baccara' which was even more hedonistic, and in the last decade 'Initiale'. Both these later ones were regular top of the range trim levels, albeit rare over here.

from what i am told i know its a 1.7 im sure its a manual and the test only ran out in april this year so hopefully will be a good find

The 1.7 manual Supercinqs are supposed to be a pretty good steer.  I've not had a chance to drive one yet, but I'm usually a fan of the big engine / small car combo.

The 1.7 5s fly. My mate had one years ago and it was of one those car you got in and thought 'fuck me this is fast' when you expected it to have the pulling power of an IT specialist on match.com with who dresses a hobbit at the weekends

Went to see a race the train event this evening, not only did I get to see one of the lovely trains of course (love em!) but it got me even more fired up about this running thing. It was a 5k race, the first guy in was in at about 16mins, train in 23. Makes my 3x 5mins planned for tomorrow seem a bit weak!

Air-conditioning. I had to do Grimsby-Sheffield-Leeds-Lincoln-Grimsby today, and I'd have been a grumpy overheated sod without the a/c.

The CD player is the only thing that doesn't work on my T5, too.

However it also has a cassette player, which does work. I no longer have any cassettes, but when I bought the car there was a tape in the deck, so that's ok.

It is the greatest hits of Elvis Presley. Rejoice!

Loved my one in the Rover, but now the iPod is fucked and the AX doesn't even have a cassette radio (and since I "fixed" the aerial only picks up Heart FM)
