What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Driving through a small Welsh village yesterday, a builder shouted "A Maestro van! Classic!" There you go folks. It's official.

Actually, it's astonishing how much attention the van gets. I'm putting plans to sell on hold for the moment, as I've got it booked into a local show on August 2nd. With my 2CV sitting alongside, I'll definitely have the scruffiest vehicles there! Though some of the tractors might be a good rival... Parcgwyn needs to get his A35 van sorted.

In other news, it seems I've had a tax rebate. I thought the numbers had broken in my bank account but no, I actually do have some money! Perhaps that Acclaim in the Ebay thread is a potential next heap after all. Of course, my wife is quite rightly pointing out that there are sensible things to spend money on. It pays to be married to someone sensible. I'd have finances like Greece if I was left to my own devices!

Any news on the trafic/clio muppet?

Has he got home yet having driven at 1mph with his eyes gazing into his rear view mirror staring at the oily sump of a renault trafic and stopping every hundred yards and checking his knots

You're living in a 1950's timewarp and you're shagging Olivia Newton John? Jammy bastard.

I had to chuckle at the gastric distress in the Trafic video followed by his comment "that's the best you'll get out of me". Never have truer words been spoken.

My mutha has a new car and asked me to load the CD changer up. She said one of her CDS only plays half the songs but it's not scratched.

Yes, that's right. She'd written her name on the actual shiny side. She's 54.

Today is my last day in this house.  I'm shit-scared that something about the move will go wrong but it's countered by the fact I'm on a big new adventure tomorrow to put all the horribleness of the past three years behind me.  I only wish Mum was here to enjoy the day with me.

ROFL just watched some fat chav woman dent the entire side of her 62 plate people carrier on a fence post while trying to reverse into an (enormous) space. She then got out and started complaining! Haha, you do wonder how some people managed to pass their driving test.

Just reminded me of a woman I saw a couple of weeks ago as I took my daughter to school pulling into her drive in a black Megane cabrio.  She was manoeuvering between another car and a brick pillar and as I got closer she lurched forward and had obviously been stuck with the off side against the corner of the pillar. Instead of going back on a right hand lock (and moving the side of the car away from the wall) she carried on forward and put a 12 inch wide row of scratches about half way down the rear quarter and over the wheel arch. What was even funnier was as I walked back past after dropping my daughter off, the woman was frantically trying to rub the very deep scratches out with a damp microfibre cloth!

Good day at the car boot, bird food, a flower sprinkler thing, 2 crap but working new Hoovers and a totally blocked dc07!

Just upped the boost on the Astra (take the washer out, flatten the pump cap 'dimple' with a big hammer, and then screw out the screw a bit) and it has improved the performance hugely, it's like a different car.

I did it too much on the first go and it was like a petrol turbo, spinning up at 1000 rpm and chucking a huge plume of black smoke out the exhaust (which I reckon is still there).

This reminded me of 2 over the last few months

1 the lass over the road in her fugg ugly bmw 5gt.She had hit the side of a micra, her and her daughter on the drive with a bowl of hot soapy water some washing powder,a sponge and a micro fiber.

2 Taking the kids to school.there is an old dear with a battered s reg saxo,i always make sure i park away from her.Any how she is slamming the drivers  door,it won't shut .4 or 5 times she does this, then looks down to move her seat belt.

Popping to the pub which my Great Grandparents used to run (Noel Coward and friends used to prop up the bar) near Ashford. I hadn't been here for a few years other than getting the number 10 to Folkestone, but there was always a large wodge of shite in the village by the name of John Childs. So here's a pic of the site today:

Was out today in the river at the local water festival doing some kayak demos with the canoe club - we had to wait to do our bit until the local lifeboat crew finished their demo.  I was happy to wait!

They had a lot of passengers on board so kept the runs up and down fairly tame but the boat sounded amazing, clearly had a very large pair of diesel engines which made quite a good noise and for its size it was clearly very agile and maneuverable.  I know nothing about boats so had to go and look up what was powering it.

Seen a 993 shape Porsche 911 being dragged out of the "scenery", namely a hedge and grass bank this morning. I'm not grinning because a 911 got mangled, but rather what it was being pulled out by - a mid 80s, battered to FUCK Land Rover County (?) with a V8. Sounded absolutely brilliant.

Modern technology is pretty smart eh? Im 36 years old so not a complete old duffer, but get the feeling that I am falling behind it all.

My internet and phone has been down since Wednesday, and after poking around a bit, The France Telecom dude reckons the problem is with a buried cable somewhere and will need a digger and allsorts to fix it.....its not going to happen quickly.

In the meantime, my ISP has loaned me some wee gizmo, its a white thing the size of a pebble with some green lights on it and nothing more. It just sits on the desk blinking at me, yet somehow it harnesses the internet straight from the air and beams it directly into my laptop for use as normal.

SCIENCE, BITCHES!
