What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Seen some good stuff in the last 2 days. First was a tidy DS on an L plate. Then last night I pulled up behind an 05 Bettle that had water ingress in the right rear lights so that they were half full and sloshing, it needed a goldfish in there for the full effect.

This morning I saw a mk1 soft top Golf GTI (F plate) and on the M40 I saw 3 modern minis line astern all with a good looking blond wearing sunglasses at the wheel. Perfect sterotyping at work.

Drove the Pride to work today, just seemed right with the sunshine and an old mix tape for sound.

Was driving up M1 yesterday with American passenger, apparently some big cheese in a global logistics co.,bla, bla bla....

Anyway,he'd not said much and I thought he was asleep until we passed a lovely blue 1976 Ami 8, he was more excited than me and proceeded to tell me he was born in Argentina and Amis were everywhere when he was a kid.

For the rest of the journey we chatted about old shite, he reckons there is still a lot of old chod parked up in Argentina and it isn't rusty. Although there was some sort of scrapage scheme in the 90'swhen his dad swapped a 505 for a Polo!

Just wondered out of work and a Viewt (one of those Nissan Micra/fake Jag efforts) drove past.

It's my little fat Chesters third birthday tomorrow so I took him and Phoebe to 'Toys R us' .... sorry, I meant, Pets at Home! I warned them as I went through the door to have the mop and bucket on standby as he does like to pee on everything and I then let them have free rein to choose what the hell they wanted.

Chester just kept grabbing food and bones and pigs ears and chews and stuff like that while Phoebe looked on bemused. Finally, she looked favourably on a tennis ball and gently took it out of the bin. While this was going on, Chester was being uncharacteristicly well behaved, looked behind me and he was stood, utterly transfixed by a load of bunny rabbits in the open enclosure. You could see on his face he wanted one for his birthday... Couldn't drag him away, seriously. He stood there for a good five minutes completely in love with a fluffy thing that I couldn't work out which end was which...

Finally got him to move whan a lady wanted to say 'Hello' and she then started shovelling treats down his throat... that always takes his mind off stuff!

Took me a second to work out you were talking about two dogs...

(and yes that is a grin, oh context)

Picked up a book for 1.50 from a charity shop at lunchtime.

So far so boring. It's called Dream Cars and was published in 1988.

Tell me more. It is full of big high quality pictures of the then current concept cars. A good few of which I have never seen before.

Autoshite Gold.

Now I need to have some me time with the office scanner, then we can play the guess what this became game.

Is that the one with the red cover and stuff like Mardakian BMW M1s in it? Classic Dream Cars. I can haz it. Superb book in many ways.

Watching the chod-tastic Fiestas at Mondello on Sunday made me grin - Fairly 'committed' driving going on...

I'd forgotten about the SD1. Think that RM's skills were shown off very well in his Kevin Turvey character, though I didn't get it at the time.

That's the thing, though - in a Mini/A35/whatever the vastly increased death risk is balanced out by the driving experience. And not looking like a fecking numpty.

I'm not at all worried about being killed crashing into things in my A35, I am slightly concerned about being crashed into by other people so try to avoid that by hardly ever driving it.

What made me grin on the way home today was spotting a:

Noble

MG3 in yellow with random black stripes

Lotus Exige

and top billing to a well used pre A reg 2CV in a weird medium to dark green

and I still don't have a dash cam to record all this, silly boy.

Worked on not one, but TWO Princesses today.  After what must be a two month break it felt pretty satisfying to be getting grubby and frustrated (fnar).

Not sure if this is a grin or a grump - it has aspects of both, but it made me LOL several times so it's going here.

Plus the little prick got six months.

Well I got turfed out of my bachelor pad but luckily it was timed just as I was no longer a batchelor anymore so I've moved in with our lass. She's not mental or anything, I've claimed the big loft bedroom for all my electronics lab/beer fridge/etc stuff and I'm actually quite enjoying having some company around the place after spending years swearing that I would always live alone cos I'm such a grumpy yorkshireman and like wandering the house popping a mangina listening to Q Lazarus..With the reduction in rent, council tax, diesel etc and a surprise 10% payrise this month my disposable income has increased from about £9 a month by about a hundred times, so I'm back into the dicking about with cars game both barrels. Nowhere to work on owt off the road sadly, but I reckon it's about time to get the x-x-bolox Seat Toledo moving and some cheap coilovers off ebay for it so that I can make it less comfortable and more suitable for me as a total twat.

Also, My golf is PISSING oil out of something that is probably the crank seal. It's not an issue at home as I park on the road most of the time and it's drippings are distributed quite well, at work I'm always in the same place and it's making a right mess of the brand new tarmac. Can't really bring myself to actually fix it though so if I don't get the Bolox Toledo on the road I'll just have to put a drip tray underneath.

Anyway, someone in the (quite fancy and full of the usual <3 year old toss) carpark has noticed, and I someone left me a 3/4 full bottle of old castrol diesel 10w40 next to the drivers door. No idea who, it must have been someone from a neighbouring company. It might have even been as a pisstake, I don't know but it's free oil so I don't care really and it made my day.

it's alright lads I'm on with all kinds of glossing/polyfillering/emulsioning antics on her house to keep 't cart on't wheels, I'm trying to drag it out for as long as possible like cos as soon as the house is finished then I'm of no practical use to the woman. I reckon at this rate I have about 18 months until she realises I'm not that charismatic afterall.

Just collected four builders trestles for a Tenner a pop. Been looking for some for ages so I can lift the bond minicar up in the air and create more space in the garage by using the space underneath.

Local too. Normally they sell for about £20 each and are miles away and there's only two.

Back of the net!!! As they'll be saying for the next month.

There must be something wrong with me as when I first read that I thought it said four builders testicles...

The air horn I ordered for the Delica arrived in the post today.  Gave it a test run by running two wires direct from the battery to the compressor, and fark me is it loud!!!

It sits nicely along the inner wing too, although the section I was intending to bolt it to is double-skinned and can't get in there to screw the nuts onto the bolts, so I might have to either find an alternative mounting spot (below the air filter is a possiblity) or use BFO self tappers instead of bolts.

I'm seriously tempted to buy a couple more of the horns and fit them to other members of the fleet, but unfortunately not many of my vehicles have enough free space under the bonnet for a 18" long horn.  I might investigate the possibility of fitting one to the scooter (possibly mounted underneath bolted to the frame) - that could be quite amusing.

Where did you get it from please, Wuvv? I reckon my Maestro van would benefit* from some air horn action and like a div I let my musical ones go with the Mk3 Cortina when I sold it.

Get it on the scooter. I have a klaxon on my Honda c90. Gets some funny looks but the pissheads don't stand in middle of the road on a Saturday night nor the dithering school mum who makes a regular habit of not seeing me and pulls outonto a 40mph road doing 25 while telling little Chardonnay and Brooklyn to stop bloody fighting in the back seat

This isn't the same supplier I bought mine from - he was in the UK, but he appears to have sold out.  This is exactly the same horn though as far as I can see.
