My triathlon next sunday that i have been training for over the last 3 months has been cancelled.

Bit of downer but instead have entered one a month later but twice distance so using opportunity to push myself

You're a brave man doing a triathlon, I was meant to be doing a half marathon next weekend but trashed the ligaments round my right ankle a few weeks ago and am just getting back into running again after an enforced break.

Good luck with the training.

My Aunt has just told me she's traded her Prius in for a brand new Jag XF.

TAKE THAT GLOBAL WARMING!

Average mpg on a run up the A9, pretty impressive for a 2.5 litre automatic that's done 180k. It's looking as if it will average about 46 in normal (for me) use, which is nice- and about 50% better than my last Volvo with a VAG TD engine.

I like your approach!  What's the distances for the new one?

I have my first one coming up in June, as I'm only now learning to swim properly I am having occasional moments of terror about it but having a target like that is an excellent motivator.

I want to say another massive thank you to Messerschmittowner for helping me out of a hole with my Cortina wings by collecting them from Manchester for me and running them down nearer to London today, they are now all dropped of my dads ready to go to the bodyshop in the morning. Good to meet you too. :)

one on Sunday was a supersprint just to check i wouldn't collapse. Instead will do a sprint one at end of April with another in June with outdoor 750m swim.

Swim isn't to bad. I have trained with pull bouys and kick floats which helped my technique, still not great though but can cover 1km ish

Also discovered a pieathlon which is race with pies every two miles. They also do a wine one and chocolate one :)

Moog, the straw race sounds just your bag - do you know it?
It's just over the hill from Accrington, in Oxenhope.

By entering this race, you agree to do so at your own risk.

Competitors are reminded that the Straw Race is a strenuous activity involving alcohol.

I saw a Honda Acty on the road today - a slightly scruffy white D-plate panel van, buzzing along at about 45 with a queue of traffic behind it.  Not seen an Acty in the wild for yonks.  I love those little vans.  They always seem to go for daft money though on the rare occasions when one that isn't totally rotten comes up for sale.

Google Images 'Honda Acty' and the second result is one that belonged to Ratdat  :-D

You just reminded me, i saw the mint looking Mk3 Granada Scorpio again today driving about, B167 DOO being driven by a older chap with a beard, It must be one of the oldest Mk3's left, It still looks classy in black too.

Davidson's Scrap Metal in Altrincham have a restored one.

Well, they did in 2007.

Today I was followed by a brand new white van. He sat right on my rear bumper at 100kph. The badging on the front was covered over with something, when i pulled over to turn off it accelerated past and I was able to see the rear ... LDV. Nothing really changes !

Sitting still on the M40 I glanced to my right and saw 2 taxi passengers giving the driver a hard time, presumably over the traffic. I made sure I blew the smoke from my rolly at their open window for the next few miles until they pulled over into the fast lane (and I then 'undertook them' as the fast lane was doubly fucked...)

Casper the parrot taking the pee out of MrsDSdriver having a rant this morning had us both in fits of giggles. Its impossible to be angry around here without him chipping in.

I thought the changeover was on C?

The very first ones were on a B but you could still get Mk2's on a C! It's very rare to see a B plate Mk3, especially one so tidy and original.

ohh that looks fab. Just need to find a friend to do it with!

Aside from the beer consumption that sounds great!

You must track it down and take photos. I'd love to see it!

It's the 2nd time i've seen it in the last fortnight, I wish I took chase after it now! It sell even has its original Sercks plates fitted.

met Trigger of this Parish yesterday - wasn't more glad to see the back of two bits of precious metal! Glad they arrived unscathed in Colchester. As I said yesterday, cheaper in the long run and you won't lose money after the resto - seats looked fantastic too in the pics. Can't wait to see the Mk3 in the flesh.

Weather was abysmal but had a good drive back home after collecting a hard top for a pug 306 cabrio in Royston, Herts. Wrong colour but complete with all fixings and bargainous price of a mere £79.

It's in a breaker's less than 10 miles away and complete, got a tip off just now from Captain Slow.  Planning to take the rear axle to solve the HLS suspension issue and the head if the thermostat housing is good to solve the HL's issue.  Anything else I can bag is a bonus.

I was getting some tyres, but this is more important as it solves more problems.  Wish me luck!

I broke a pen the other day in the car so threw it into the passenger footwell. Had a brainwave earlier and grabbed the ink holder bit and it was deep and thin enough to make my clock change!

Photo taken at the correct time! So finally I wont have to fumble for my phone to tell the time.

Also accompanied a female colleague to put air in her tyres. BP was shut, Esso was fucking rammed and the air machine was broken so we went to Asda, I put the sum total of 9psi over all the tyres in and she bought me a cheeseburger. Being in a happy* relationship I'm happy with that!

She did make me shit myself driving the 4odd miles we did though, and as much as I feel the XM isnt the wafty ride it should be its fucking luxury after her 1.2 10plate polo on steelies. Car's due its MOT next week and she seems to think itll fail. Told her that if a 10 plate car fails its MOT then there's a bigger issue than a shoddy car...

The first one I ever saw was a b plate - on BBC Breakfast time in 1985.

My mother in law has one on an F plate - still has the best brakes of any car I have ever driven.

Changed out the brake master cylinder on the Pontiac yesterday.   It weighed about 10lb, took about 20 minutes to do and only cost $30 once i returned the core.     This made me grin when compared to doing the job on other cars I have owned.

Errr? You adjusted your clock, a week before the time changes (to british summer time)?

Was just testing it worked before the big moment...
