What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I can almost guarantee she would turn her nose up and refuse to drive it when she sees it anyway. Sounds like she'd be expecting a Cayenne or Boxster or suchlike.

Correct.

Sent her mum some photos to show to the lass and guess what?

" Ooh no, that's not what I meant. It's old"

Sigh.

What she actually needs is a slap, what she is now actually getting is a brand new Audi A1.

I am too old for all this modern parenting stuff. I don't have any kids, but if I did "they would start off their driving in a Marina with a dodgy gearbox just like I did so there"....... Etc.

These were taken the day I went with my brother to get the Golf MoT'd.  Unfortunately it did fail, but then it had been sat in a field for three years.  This was also the day I discovered the Golf has a larger turning circle than the Princess whose turning circle is around 37 feet.

Today, I was too ill to go back with him for the retest so Dad went with him and the Golf passed after having a track rod end boot glued, and what turned out to be a coaster sized hole in the front inner wing welded up.  Brother is, understandably, delighted that our hard work recommissioning this car has paid off and now he's saving up for the road tax so he can get on with the shakedown.

My offspring, aka Dude or 'The International Percussionist'  B), is not far off 18 but has thus far shown no interest in learning to drive. However, now that we're looking at acquiring a set of timpani (used... very used...), conversation yesterday turned to the price of - and the appropriate licence necessary for - a Ford Transit or similar VAN...!

Oh aye, it's all good here too as my 17 year old daughter wants a Corsa.

We had a break in at work in the early hours of Sunday morning. Two people somehow got through the coded front door without a swipe card, the pass controlled outer floor and then kicked in the inner doors. They took the unsecured safe to the back of the office, smashed it open..........and found it contained plastic pass holders, a dieting recipe book and keys to the cabinets that contain nothing but blank headed paper. I tihnk that constitutes a fail.

Odd thing is it seems like a inside job seeing as how they gained entry so easily, but if it was they surely would have known where the valuables were kept?

Just seen a tv advert for the MG3. It was on Really inbetween Traffic Cops mind.

I'm going to sell one of the A35's in the spring and buy an A40 Somerset. Currently looking for a suitably scruffy, but solid and original one that can be left outside without worrying about it too much.

Having experienced both, I'd rather keep the A35.  Although I suppose if you've got two, selling one to buy something different sort of makes sense, variety being the spice of life and all that.

That's what I'm thinking. Somersets are also creeping up in price and I think now's the time to get one before they get too expensive.

It's a shame (imho) that they showed the RV out of Breaking Bad rather than the beige Pontiac Aztek with missing wheeltrims and blowing exhaust.  Proper modernshite that was.

Where's the herald from "Confessions of a driving instructor"?

Easy to solve that one - Immediate Payment Required and send with tracking number (Rec'd Delivery will do)

Cashback!

Can you do the immediate payment thing with an auction then? I thought that was just BIN type listings.

Work spunked out on 4 new coat stands at £60 a pop. I put one together this morning, someone picked it up to move it and it snapped in half in the middle, where a big chunky 13mm bolt goes through a little sliver of plastic.

It's with the rest now, a snotty email is being sent to get them refunded and better quality ones ordered!

I did offer to find someone who could weld and run a bead around all the joins but I then had to explain welding, so gave up...

Whilst some things in that picture are obvious, some are not.

Is there a large size somewhere so I can read the text under the cars?

Here's the biggest one I could find

If you buy an external dock (check your hard drive connection, although it'll prob be data) and you can plug your old hd in as a pen drive, and as long as it's not proper fucked you should be able to get everything off.

I must admit I wasn't convinced by this but it worked! I've recovered a year's worth of photos and about five years worth of other crap. Thanks to Cobblers' Classic Shell suggestion the new laptop is proving quite acceptable to use, a good result all round.

Shit, sorry. My mistake. It is just on BIN listings. That said, we changed all our listings to Immediate Payment and it saves loads of time having to cock about with none payers. No help if you auction stuff though.

I'm feeling well enough to get dressed today.  I might even get some work done.  Or I might just sit here and eat ice cream all day instead.

I was scrabbling around in a cupboard this evening and happened across a number of 1:43 scale models that I wasn't aware I owned - including a Facel-Vega, TR6 and low-roof Estafette.

To celebrate, I lined all my 1:43 models up on a shelf and took a photo.  I know my collection probably looks pitiful compared to some of yours, but I like it.

Commieshite in the front, frogshite in the second row and "Misc / other" at the back.

I could have sworn I also had one of those mental Tissier-bodied 6-wheel DS vans, but I can't lay my hands on it at the moment.

Premature Christmas celebrations grounded by electrical fault.  You want my opinion?

I may be sat here wide awake at nearly half past four in the morning but this cold I've been plagued with has finally abated, my voice has almost properly returned and my temperature is something like stable.  I even managed to get some work done which I've been itching to do for the past fortnight or so but haven't been able to.

Maidstone Minimeet soon, new interior to go in the Princess and happily discovered that some debts are almost cleared now thanks to living with my parents.  Okay, so I'm not thrilled that my 3 month stay is getting on for 12, but it does look like I'm finally pulling myself out of the hole Bolsover put me in.  I shall be cautiously optimistic for the time being.

Nice shi-casts Wuvvum.

Here's some of my slot cars. They made me grin when I popped up into the loft last night.
