Provincial Post Offices who start talking about my Bluebird as soon as I walked in!

Yeah you gotta love them, I went to the main post office for the stamps for the dealer sticker, when I asked for 150 stamps the desk drone made a face like a cat's arsehole at me and said I couldn't have that many, so I jumped in the car, 3 miles out of town and got as many stamps as I wanted.

I mean who are they saving them for? Surely my money is as good as any one elses? [/wanders to the grumble thread]

They're doing it in my local newsagents too. Stamps are set to rise dramatically very soon so lots of people are trying to buy in bulk to saves themselves a fortune, hence rationing is in place.

That's if you can even get to the front window at the Post Office, and conquer their policy of closing as many windows as possible at busy times. Or get stuck behind an old woman attempting to pay in Farthings and cat food tokens

Those old bats are ace, they always seem to be getting stuff for 27 other people at the same time. 'Here's 30p for Mrs Jones' s telly licence, can I have the change separately please' etc.

Then they realise they've forgotten to check whether Doris's pension is due that week before twatting on about a two day break they had in Tipton in 1948 and how horse shit was rationed at the time.

I've never seem as many Mercs as there are here in Walton on Thames!

When I was a kid in Sussex I remember seeing a Merc was a rare experience. I always wondered how they managed to seem such a large manuafacturer if nobody bought their cars. However a couple of years later I was in North London where the only car on the roads were Mercs and realised where their main client base was.

They are everywhere now though. The Ford Mondeo/BMW 3 series esque Merceres C class is stuipdly common up here. There are 4 of them parked outside my office. From what I understand they are bought up mega cheep on fleet sales and still have a carry a greater air (heir/hair?) of class than the Mondeo even if they do spend half of their time in the garage with various electrical problems.

It's the badge an the old image that does it. I've owned/driven old Mercs, Jags and Beemers and occasionally people would say 'ooh that's posh' etc but most cost less than a Mondeo/Vectra/406/etc.

Father Ted's post over in grumpy.

That is indeed amusing! While I may have some regret about mentioning the F word so close to the C word, the concept of cats running on laminate flooring makes up for it.

Am pissing myself laughing over those Veet reviews!

They are better built, better quality and if serviced properly last a very long time, just like BMW's.

Statistically they are still less reliable than Fords though, although BMWs are.

Mercedes went thought a very shaky period 10 years ago, the modern range is light years better but they are still not the most reliable & durable brand in the word, which they were in the 1970s and 1980s. The cars suffer from annoying electrical faults that are often due to poor parts selection and overcomplication.

But the ownership base has changed, they are a "churn and turn" business lease/Personal Contract Plan brand like everyone else now, very few people buy a new one and expect to keep it for 7 to 10 years like in the old days.

It turned into Hypnotoad for a minute at the end.

It didn't when I watched it.... :?

I think Matt and I are an odd couple:

I've got come in from swearing at the car with dirty fingernails and smelling of oil to settle down at the laptop and wee myself at those reviews. He is in the kitchen cooking tea after rolling his eyes and not cracking a smile at the childish product reveiws.

CHELSEA! Yeah, it's only half time but what a result!

Struggling like fark off the fags. Not bad at work but home and relaxed it's a nightmare, it's like my body's screaming for nicotine. Patches are ok but seem to wear off later in the day and I've left my sodding ebifter at work. Chewing gums and pens at the moment.

The autoshite help-a-member system has me grinning today.

A couple of days ago I "accidently" won something on ebay for far less money than it should be worth. Problem was, it was in Runcorn and the seller wanted cash on collection, and quickly..... A quick PM exchange with Pete_M of this parish and the item is now safe at his house until I figure out a/ how best to get it over the pennines and b/ how best to tell the wife.

:D Ta Pete!

Not the most optimistic match stats though! :(

Certainly had some luck thanks to their shocking finishing. If we'd attempted to play an open, flowing game against them we would have been destroyed. I still don't think we'll go through, but can be damn happy to have gotten this far

+1.

However Chelsea defended (mostly) superbly and were stroking balls around the box (fnarr fnarr) with relative ease, even if at times it seemed madness. Also Barca looked shell shocked later on, I reckon they expected to be three or foul goals up and it pissed them off when they weren't.

Drogba is an idiot at times though. He was on top form and had them looking worried a lot of the time, then he did his snipered routine which was just stupid. Oh well, even if they don't make the final they can say they beat Barca and under di Matteo they've been brilliant.

+ another one..............

i think Drogba's theatricals were part of a plan tp break up Barca's rythm. Worked a treat...........although I fear we may have annoyed then slightly, and we could get a right walloping next week............

Sore head, but happy. TAKE FUCKING THAT, Mr Gladioli. My girlfriend was laughing her head off at the sight of the normally mild-mannered me turning into a swearing football hooligan last night. The taxi driver who brought me home from her house was a Liverpool fan, and admitted to being pessimistic about the FA Cup Final.

If we lose in Spain and have no chance of 4th place in the league I reckon we'll smash Liverpool in the cup final. They do have a good record against us but our recent form is much better than theirs.

Whilst we're on Chester are on for 100 points and 100 goals this season and are already promoted.
