Word from Muvva & Favva_tone is that some loft searching has uncovered the majority of my train set which was declared mostly abandoned in a former house in a previous grumpy thread update. The track is gone, but rolling stock and most engines seem to have survived, along with a box full of them hornby trees that shed green dust over everything. I shall go and retreieve what there is in a month or so and tuck it up safe at my house somewhere.

Been a busy week... turns out I went back to work after the school holidays to find out I no longer had a school. Boss has shuffled things about and I now not only have a new school contract, but a new schoolbus... BUS SHITE TO RAMMLETOWN PLZ M8

24 seats, decent stereo, lazy speed limiter and it has no less than two box heaters in the saloon. I had to take my jacket off today cos it was like a bloody sauna bringing it up the road.

 

 

In other news, more of a "WTF?!", but my mate phoned this evening.

"Well, it had a soft tyre today, pumped it up, but it's making a rumbling noise like you were driving on a rumble strip when you do anything over 55-60mph"

I hope that's the 4.o n/a diesel, bloody ace engines. Bit slow and fisrt gear is pretty much useless but they last forever.

I've always wanted a go in one of those Mercs. I would imagine them to be like driving a less shonky Dodge 50 with an even bigger steering wheel, and I quite like driving Dodge 50s.

Haha, Speedcars are the taxi firm I use when I'm in Prague! Interesting to see that they make people that emotional!

 

Edit: Further research reveals that the Passat belongs to AAA, the biggest firm in town, that also happens to be well-known for anti-competitive practices and general looniness- I read somewhere that the contracts of employment explicitly prohibit cabbies from having relationships with their dispatcher colleagues!

No wonder they are not pleased about the competition getting bigger!
